Alvin Ridley was known as "The Zenith Man" due to his former position as television sales and repairman in Ringgold, Georgia. A screenplay was developed by writer Mark Bailey of the bizarre facts of the murder trial and the relationship between Ridley and his lawyer, McCracken Poston. New Line Cinema acquired the project in 2004.
