The final episode of this series about the father of the atom bomb takes us to Oppenheimer's downfall. A little-known American actor in England, Philip O'Brien, gives an exceptionally strong performance as Roger Robb, the prosecutor whose questions ruined the great scientist. (This was O'Brien's only appearance in the series.) One watches the snake-and-mongoose situation unravel with fascinated horror, as Oppenheimer's friends are humiliated as they try to defend him and others who have benefited from his genius - Manning Redwood as General Groves and David Suchet as Teller - turn away from him. The moment where Oppenheimer, aware that Teller has destroyed him through his testimony, still shakes his hand, is exceptionally moving.moreless
