Episode Recap

The auditions start off in Seattle, which is were all the rejected acts were from. Five acts in all were turned away, while ten made it through to the Vegas callbacks.

The first act to make it through was Kari Callin. Kari was always afraid to sing because people saw her scars from her cleft palate, and not her. She can be described as the Susan Boyle of the US. She told the story about how she went to her first audience for a singing job on a cruise ship and the director took one look at her and said she wasn't what they were looking for. She sang "Somewhere" from the West Side Story. She received a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. David thought she was fantastic. Sharon said she had an extraordinary voice. Piers thought she has an amazing voice. All three judges voted her through to the next round.

The next act to make it to Vegas was Simon Chaban, with a fire acrobatic act. His act alone is a Vegas sideshow act. David told him to bring back more fire in Vegas. The judges votes were not shown, but he did make it through to Vegas.

The third act to make it was Keith Johnson, a country singer. He sang "Walking In Memphis" by Marc Cohn. David thought he had charisma and off to Vegas he went.

Pixie Mysteré was the next act to make it through to Vegas. They were acrobats between the ages of eight and eleven. They dressed in skin tight outfits with colorful polka dots all over them. Their act consisted of a lot of flipping and gymnastic moves. David thought they rocked. All three judges voted yes and off to Vegas they went.

The fifth act to go through was a dance group called Destined 2 Be. David thought they had terrific choreography, while Sharon thought they had a terrific future in front of them. They had a lot of showmanship, creativity and were very entertaining to watch. All three judges past them through to the Vegas callbacks.

Next up was Rashida Jolley, who had a unique act of coming singing while playing a harp. She performed "Killing Me Softly" by Lauryn Hill. She could have made it through just on her singing alone. Sharon thought she was unique, but she was confused by the singing and the harp together. Piers thought she was very inventive and thought she made the harp quite sexy. All three judges voted her through to Vegas, even thought Sharon and David didn't like the harp.

The no named act of Anthony and Matt was up next. their act was very unique. Matt played the guitar and sang "Use Me" by Bill Withers, while Anthony tap danced along with it. Although Matt was not that good and he was very hard to hear, Anthony made up for it with his tap dancing. Now if they could only just come up with a name for their act. Sharon said they blew her away and David thought they were great. They went on to Vegas with a yes from all three judges.

The tango dancing act of Louis Bar & Laura Cantu, were next to go through. All three judges voted them though to Vegas.

Next up was the acrobatic act of the Kalinis, a father and son act. The son showed great ability and skill in balancing about his father's head. Although their act could have flowed better, it still showed great skill. Sharon and Piers voted yes, and David's vote was not shown.

The tenth act to make it to Vegas was a variety (whipping) act of Christopher and Laura Camp. The act was really hard to follow because it moved so fast. Hopefully they will get more airtime in Vegas. Chris cut flowers in half with the whip, while Laura held them in her mouth. The judges were definitely impressed. David thought it was weirdly entertaining. All three judges voted them through to Vegas.

The last act to make it to Vegas was a returning act from last season. Mia Boostrom appeared on the show last season and was eliminated in the top forty. She was definitely more confident than last year and her practicing paid off. She sang "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles, while playing the keyboard. David thought she did a great job and Piers admitted that she was a better singer now.
