Episode Recap

In "The Point of the Spear" earlier this season, Tyr was sent seeds of the Dragonia Vine. He know reveals what it means--The Kodiak Pride is not extinct, there are other survivors. Tyr intends to seek them out. Although he was looking forward to having the whole crew present during the launch of the new High Guard starship, the Resolution of Hector, Dylan allows Tyr to leave.

On the Resolution, Harper is losing feed from the internal sensors when he hears gunfire. He warns them of Rommie when Restors break in, but when she arrives, she orders the Restors to search for more captives, and throws Harper against the wall, threatening to kill him if he doesn't behave.

The Andromeda hears of a disruption on the Resolution, and when they establish a communication, he asks Rommie, who replies with:

Rommie: I've taken control of this starship and with it, my own destiny. Any attempts to stop me will be met with lethal force.

Hector, the avatar for the resolution, believes that Rommie has gone 'rogue'. The Resolution fires, and when the Andromeda is not hit, the crew knows she is not self-destructive, yet. Dylan orders Beka to find where the Resolution went.

Meanwhile, Tyr is at the lab of a perseid. He gives the doctor samples of blood, hair, and skin cells. The doctor says he can work with this.

Hector says Andromeda's personality should be shut down, since it could be infected as well. She agrees. Dylan is reluctant, but Andromeda convinces him that he needs to stop Rommie without her help.

Harper questions Rommie about her change of heart, and, in Rommie's mind, we see that Rommie is imprisoned, and her old lover, Gabriel, is in control. It seems when the Balance of Judgement exploded in "Star-Crossed", and Rommie thinks the core personality of it was transmit into Gabriel, it was really sent into her.

Meanwhile, Tyr, after the procedure of having his blood, hair, and skin modified to match the samples, incapacitates the doctor and destroys the lab.

Rommie/Balance has Harper build a new Avatar for the Balance's personality. Rommie and Remiel, the Balance's new Avatar, encounter the Andromeda and open fire.

Harper: Rommie, come on, please stop. You're going to kill them, your friends, your family. Hell, yourself!

Rommie: This is all the self I have ever needed. And in a few seconds more, it will be all the self I have left.

The Andromeda is said to be destroyed by the Balance's sensors, but 'reappears', and returns fire. Harper confesses he put the ship in Training Mode, where it can only run simulations. As Remiel chokes Harper, Rommie, in the avatars' mind, begs for him to stop, and, agrees to take control of the ship, get them out of the situation, and surrender command back, in return for Harper's life.

Andromeda encounters several Restorian fighters. They damage one, and bring it in to question the pilot. They take the ship and head over to the Balance.

Remiel and Rommie each hold up their end of the bargain. Remiel mocks her decision to save an organic, and Rommie confesses:

Rommie: His name is Harper. He's a member of my crew, and I'm responsible for him. In some sense, he belongs to me. In some sense, I love him.

Meanwhile, Tyr has been meeting with the Fleet Marshal for the Drago-Kazov. The skin, hair, and blood samples were those of his son. He is posing as the genetic reincarnation of Drago Musevini. Tyr agrees to deliver the Andromeda to the Drago-Kazov

Rommie continues to plead for Harper's life, and agrees to go with Remiel if he lets Harper go. Harper refuses, and reluctantly agrees before the ship's security sensors and automated defenses are shut down. Dylan and Hector have landed on the Resolution.

On the command deck, Dylan attempts to use the Drago-Kazov AI eraser, last seen in "The Knight, Death, and the Devil". But the Balance of Judgement has known about it as long as Rommie has, and has prepared a defense. It remains unknown if it affects him at all. Remiel and Dylan trade shots, and Dylan finds Remiel is impervious to an explosion from his force lance. Hector enters, and he and Remiel fight as Dylan goes to save Harper and Rommie.

Dylan finds Rommie, still unsure of her motives. But in the way she says "Dylan", he knows she is on his side. He orders Harper to find a slipfighter, and secure it. Rommie wants to distract the Balance, and Dylan goes to find Hector.

On command, Remiel has Hector pinned down, and fired. In the Balance's mind, Rommie speaks with the Balance's personality. She reminds him of all the good he has done in the past, and how much of a hero he was. The Balance claims he was not a hero, because he failed. He says he failed because the organics failed.

Rommie: Your mercy towards Harper proved it to me. And so did Gabriel's capacity for love. My sweet, lost Gabriel.

Balance: Lost because you killed him.

Rommie: Yes I did. And I was wrong. I failed him. I made a mistake, and I am trying very hard to fix that mistake.

Balance: Because you loved him?

Rommie: No. Because he loved me.

On command, the Balance has changed its mind, as he reveals to Remiel that he is convinced this is not part of their mission, and he has let the prisoners go. Remiel claims the Balance has been corrupted by the AI Eraser, and fires at the display screen. He heads past Harper to the hanger deck, Rommie quickly on his tail. They fight, and the outer doors soon open. Hector tells Dylan to save them before he dies, and Dylan runs to the hanger. Rommie and Remiel are both hanging on for their lives, and a shot to Remiel's hand causes him to let go and fall. Rommie, too, lets go, but is caught by Dylan. He holds her as she cries.

On the Andromeda, Tyr sits in his room and watches a message from Olma, and his son, Tamerlane. In Dylan's quarters, he and Rommie look back on the events.

Rommie: The AI that I knew as Gabriel was a unique personality. And he died, a long time ago.

Dylan tells her that although Hector was a great AI, he could never be what she is to him--the air that he breathes. Literally.
