In "Star-Crossed", Rommie was terrified she might go insane from being alone, as the Balance of Judgment and the Pax Magellanic did. It finally happened to her.
Goof: The term "nano millennia" mentioned by Rommie makes no sense. The prefix "nano" means one billionth. A millennium is 1000 years. A nano millennium is 1/1,000,000,000 of 1000 years. It works out to about 31.5 seconds. One Thousand "nano millennia" is less than a day. While a computer can do a lot in that amount of time, it can't be the first time Rommie was shut down that long.
Rhade: Stop firing, fleshbag, or I'll rip out your entrails!
Dylan: Maybe you should kill him. (Rhade raises his gun and Dylan stops him) I was kidding.
Rhade: I know.
Dylan: Is Rommie here?
Harper: More or less.
Rhade: He's up to something.
Dylan: More or less, yeah.
(as Doyle leaves)
Dylan: In good company, Harper.
Harper: Very. She is Doyle. She protects me. She makes sure I don't end up on some hellhole of a rock.
(Dylan asks about Rommie again)
Harper: Uh...'More or less' was the wrong thing to say. I meant, in a sense.
Dylan: You're growing Vedrans?!
Harper: I prefer 'farming the perfect being'.
Dylan: He's dodging what happened to Rommie.
Rhade: He didn't insult me, not once. That's not right.
Rhade: He's the same but different somehow. Same old same, but worse.
Beka: There's news.
(to Gogol after he can't find his gun)
Harper: 'A place for everything and everything it's place.' Not, 'Put something in a new place each time.'
(looking at Harper's workshop)
Beka: Huh. Guess who plays here?
Rhade: He's lost his mind. Not surprising.
Beka: Yup. Harper's lost his mind.
Rhade: Was that Rommie?
Beka: What's left of her.
Rhade: I wouldn't put those on without knowing what they do.
Dylan: I was hoping they were a VR relay into Rommie.
Harper: I lost hope in this armpit.
Dylan: Is that what this is all about? You want Marika out of the way, but you want me to do your dirty work for you. Well done, Harper. Well done. You've made your problem my problem.
Rhade: Fear. It'll eat you up and spit you out.
(Dylan says he needs to create a distraction. A golden light appears inside the cave and the guards leave)
Rhade: How'd you do that?
Dylan: I didn't do anything.
Rhade: Life is cheap here.
Dylan: Apparently death is very expensive.
Rhade: (to Harper) So you started stealing.
Harper: No. I started stealing when I was like 4.
Rommie: I'm awake. After so long. It's been nano millennia.
Dylan: That's Harper's doing. It's been a very short time.
Rommie: I do remember a dark eternity.
Dylan: It's over now.
Rommie: Though at first, I swore I would serve whoever freed me from this unjust imprisonment. And then when no one came, how I realized that whoever freed me was my betrayer.
Dylan: What are you talking about?
Rommie: And then how I swore to kill whoever set me free.
Dylan: Listen to me!
Rommie: You're here to destroy me!
Throw them all away,
But don't predict where your foot will fall;
The first and the last steps are the same.
