      • Rhade: Harper was supposed to adjust my stabilizers so it looked like I had an accident--not so I'd actually have one! Dylan: In the future, I'll be more specific with him.

      • Beka (referring to the Maru): Hey, Rhade, don't ding it up! Rhade: How could you tell? Beka (stroking the Maru's wall): He didn't mean that.

      • Rhade: There's a price to pay for doing the right thing but an even higher price for doing the wrong thing.

      • Dylan: It has made them a little eccentric. Rhade: That's not the word I would choose. Dylan: Well, that, Rhade, is why Nietzschean diplomats are in short supply.

      • Rhade: (talking about Harper) Where the hell is that spiky-haired little midget?

      • Our vanguard is the point of the lance. Then came design and crimson flame. There, they still wait somehow. Disciples of Qhatch CY 0417.

      • Title:

An oracle told the people of Phrygia to name the next person to enter the kingdom's capital Telmissus with an ox-cart as their King, and they crowned a man named Gordias. His ox-cart was dedicated to the gods, and tied with an intricate knot of cornel bark to a post. A later oracle said that whoever could untie the knot would become king of Asia. King Alexander the Great of Macedon defeated the Persians at the battle of Gordium, and attempted to untie the knot. There are several versions of his solution, firstly, that he simply drew his sword and severed the knot, or more ingeniously, that he pulled out the cross piece that the cart was tied to and the knot unraveled itself. Either way, the Gordian Knot has come to mean a seemingly impossible task which is solved by a bold stroke.
