    BIRTHDAY

    The Good;
Cordy's sitcom is great and some excellent crazy acting from DB. Also nice to see Doyle again if only in a clip.

    The Bad;
Feels a bit laboured in places. How can the message in one dimension still be there in another (Jasmine?)

    Best line:

    Captain Subtext;
If Cordy wasn't around does this mean Doyle's last act was to kiss Angel? Love the CC as Wonder Woman cake the gang get for Cordy, too bad Joss went off the idea of making the film. Gunn comments that Fred is so cool. Wes refer to Gunn as his 'partner'. CC and Angel kiss

    Questions and observations;
So this is a world where CC never joins AI. No Fred so presumably after Wes and Gunn rescue her she goes back to Texas? In a world without Cordy's influence does this mean Merle, Elana etc are all still alive? Pentagrams always bad news. What are Buffy and the Scoobs doing about mad Angel in this alternate reality? CC is now part demon as is Faith, Buffy etc. This is ep 55 so exactly half way through the series.

  • There was never, and there will never be another woman like Cordelia Chase.

    "Perfect"
This is the episode that explains why Cordelia Chase is my ultimate idol, and why she is one of the best characters in last couple of thousand years. One day, when I grow up, I wanna have courage to make choices Cordelia made in this episode. Her devotion isn't blind, it's inspiring and beautiful. Gorgeous as ever, she somehow menages to maintain her fabulous fashion taste and her image as "powerful b!tch princess", while defending humanity and risking her life, never being afraid to say what's on her mind, to stand for her friends - or stand up to them, and always making the most logical choice without unnecessary tragic pomp.

This episode is a must-see for all Cordelia fans, and for all Whedonverse fans, too. Cause it's hard to appreciate a genius, until you meet his formidable creation. Meet my almost-perfect idol: Miss Cordelia Chase.

Birthday was a perfect and classic episode of Angel. I really enjoyed watching this episode which focused on developing Cordelia's character. This was a chapter from her own hero's quest and it is pivotal to the season and series as a whole. I thought the story was well thought out, and it was interesting to see Skip as Cordelia's Guide. There was a lot of awesome supernatural action, touching drama, and a surprise ending with new implications. There was also some development between Fred and Gunn as they worked to find out what was going on with Cordelia. I think Fred is so cool too!!!!!!!
  • Cordelia gets the offer of a lifetime.

    "Superb"
Birthday is an excellent episode that gives us a nice break from the rather arc heavy episodes of present and focuses on our main co-star, Cordelia. The episode shows how far she has come and reminds us of key moments in her life.

Charisma Carpenter proved what an amazing actress she is with this episode. We all know she can do excellent comedy performances but here she gets to show her dramatic talents and really livens this episode and makes it all the more enjoyable. This episode concludes Cordelia's journey from nasty girl to caring woman and finishes her character's arc, letting us see her from now on as the woman she is rather than the woman she was becoming. A lot of people complain that after this point Cordelia becomes "Saint" Cordelia but I don't feel that's true. She becomes a motherly figure to the rest of the gang and to Connor and a wifely figure to Angel, and can sense when someone has problems and tries to help them with it. As seen in previous episodes, she's always been good at reading people and now she uses this talent to help her friends with their problems.

The first scene is a nice call back to S1 Cordelia, a failing actress. The award speech scene reminds us of her roots and brings up memories of her self centredness in the first season, when all she could think about was being rich and famous. Then when the gang bring in her birthday cake, it has an image of a superhero on it, reflecting on the champion she has become. This scene sets up the episode nicely.

Cordelia also finally gets everything she's ever wanted in this episode; fame, money, power but when she gets it, she realises that it isn't her path anymore. Giving up her seemingly perfect life to help others with her visions shows what a remarkably selfless person she has become. We also see what Angel is without her- an insane man chained in a room. It's important to realise that Angel isn't insane through the visions but through the loneliness in his life when Doyle died and Cordy wasn't there for him. The blue room was a marvellous scene and shows us that Cordelia was pre-destined to get the visions. Her demonhood is a message for adulthood and this episode charts her moves as she takes the next step in her life.

Skip makes a pleasent return in this episode and it becomes clear in certain scenes that he's not as nice as he makes out he is. His aggresiveness at certain times hint that he's not as innocent as he makes out and as we find out later, he isn't just a simple guide. He seems to presentat key points in Cordelia's life without directly forcing her to do anything, but somehow manipulating events in his favour.

Angel also showed us how much Cordelia means to him during his deserate quest to release her from her astral state and her visions and refusing to give up without a fight. It's obvious to the audience now that he loves her and I really wish he had told her here but no such luck. Well have to wait over 2 seasons for them to even kiss!

Birthday is a fantastic episode that provides us with insight into Cordelia's character and is a pivotal point in the Jasmine arc of next season. Definitely should be watched.
  • What could of been.

It's Cordelia's birthday and she gets a very painful vision that knocks her out. Fred and Gunn find out that she has been taking pain pills and a CAT scan reveals that she's dying. Meanwhile a demon named Skip (Likes the Matix, doesn't love Gladiator) changes time to what could of happened if Cordy and Angel never met. Cordelia is an Emmy award winning actress with her own sitcom Cordy (God knows how, we've seen the play). A great what if episode that shows us that Angel really needed Cordelia. We also learn that Cordy has changed a lot from her Sunnydale days.
  • It's Cordelia Chase's birthday and she has to chose between living as a real famous actress or to give up her visions and Angel Investigations.

This is one of my favourite episodes in Angel. Cordelia Chase is an awesome character in Angel. I love seeing what it would be like if Cordelia didn't meet Angel in the episode City Of. The televsion show she was acting in was so cheesy but it was really funny. It was cool to see what her life might have been like. It was weird to see Angel in her alternate reality. It was like the visions took over his life. It was awesome when Angel left Cordy that message on the wall and she finds him and kisses him on the lips. Then she gets visions again. I thought it was interesting for her to decide to become a demon which is really cool.
  • Skip, Skip, To My Death

Birthday-On her birthday, Cordelia's visions become so painful that they propel her into an astral state and a life-threatening coma. Visited by a demon guide, astral Cordy is mystically granted the opportunity to live her dream of a rich and famous actress if she is willing to give up her history with Angel and her visions.

A brilliant stand alone episode that gives us a chance to look back at how far Cordelia has come and will be going. Her episodes are always some of the best episodes of the series and this is no exceptions. Charisma is great througout as she goes through a life-changing journey alone for most of the episode without her friends to back her up, which helps. Skip returns and is wonderful a Cordy's guide. I especially loved his Matrix and Gladiator references which are so perfectly placed in the script. But the episode has it's share of some disturbing scenes like that village girl who had the back of her head blown off by the visions...visually, I can't believe they got away with showing that on TV. Also, the alterante reality scenes were great, like the Cordy show credits and seeing how Wesley and Gunn are live in this world. The worst one being Angel, which David gives a very convincing performance as now insane vampire with Doyle's visions. I do also love the throwbacks to Doyle and Cordelia thinking of herself as hero. Not to mention, wanting to become part demon which is big step for the character and well played by Charisma. The ending is also hilarious with Cordelia awakes and has a vision when suddenly she's floating the mid-air while only everyone notices but her. All and All, one of the best of the season with some great acting, characters, and plot developments.
  • Cordelia Chase: This is your life

    8.6

So Cordelia is getting more and more pummelled after her visions and she has been keeping it from everyone. It all comes to a head on her birthday, when she is hit with a vision that knocks her out of her body. She (and I) begin to wonder if she is really dead, but lo and behold she isnt dead. She has a demon guide, Skip (remember him?) who shows her what her life *could* have been if she had never met up with Angel in L.A. She was supposed to have been a very famous actress. Now...knowing Cordy from way back when, you might think she would prefer to stay in that reality. But knowing the Cor we all know now, we know there is no way she would leave her friends to fight evil alone. She makes the right decision in the end, and is now made part demon so she can handle the visions from now on. Gotta love Cordy!
  • Cordy rocks

    "Superb"
This episode so solidifies Cordelia's growth. Not only do we see that she is commited to the life she is in but we see she would have grown even if she became an actress (famous Cordy thought the breast cancer PSA was important, high school Cordy would not have cared). The storyline also confirms that Cordelia is meant to "help the helpless". She does know her destiny. We also get to see more of Angel's love for Cordelia which is important. I also enjoyed seeing Fred and Gunn appreciate each other and igniting their future connection. Watching this episode with hind sight you can see many of the things that set up storyline for season four. If you are looking you can see how things that seem one way really confirm Skip's last speech at the end of season four. A true Whedonverse trait.
  • Cordy's other life.

    7.5
    "Good"
Seeing what Cordy's life could have been, had she never met Angel was quite a sight to see. Though she still grew into a more adult and less vapid and shallow woman she was still in that world. And by season 3 that was no longer then Cordy we had all grown to love. We also got to see how instrumental she really was the rest of Angel's team. Connor was non existent, Fred was presumed to still be in Pylea, Wesley and Gunn had a even harder then in the actual world keeping the demon world at bay, and Angel was destroyed.

My only issue was that if we are led to believe that they last time Cordy saw Angel was back in Sunnydale, before she and Angel left, then that would be the extent of their relationship. Which was pretty much none. They barely had contact and really didn't have anything together through the three seasons they were on the show together. So, why would Cordelia be so adament about seeing Angel? Accuracy wise she wouldn't know him that well, going by their Sunnydale relationship.
  • cordelia in dream land

    "Perfect"
perhaps the best episode of the show. it was that amazing!

it has cordelia in a coma when she gets a vision and crashes. her spirit is out of her body and keeps hearing voices but it's just skip. the guy from that vision thing. he takes her to a world where she could live the life she always wanted to without the visions and there shes a superstar and has her own tv show. it should exist in real life! cordy needs her own tv show.

but cordelia is such a hero and feels like there is something wrong. she sees wesley and gunn again and wesley does not have an arm in that world. then she goes to angel who went crazy with the visions and she calms him down and kisses him and takes the visions into her again. that scene in the blue room was so amazing and beautiful. she wakes up in her real life and part demon now with flaoting abilities. the episode was amazing, just brilliant.
  • Cordy joins the ranks of other 'verse heros...

    8.5
    "Great"
In this wonderful episode, Cordy becomes part demon, joing many other classic heros in the 'verse. Angel and Spike, Anya, Willow (witch), Lorne, and even Buffy are all part demon. And now Cordy.

Cordy has grown-up so much since Buffy season 1, it's really a testament that she was good all along, but never had the means to say the world, before.

Would the BX (before Xander) Cordy have even helped the Buffy group if she had the visions?

This episode was very well written.

Also, this episode introduces Lorne as a key player (part of their group). Another great plot point.

Angel is my favorite show and of all the perfect episodes, this one is the BEST!

    Cordy becomes a star

    Cordy, Cordy and more Cordy

oh, and did I forget, this episode is about Cordy.

She is having trouble with her visions and the only way for her not to die is to live the life she was meant to. But our superhero can't, and she goes back to Angel (in a beautiful blue room) to get on with the smoochies and he passes his visions over to her.

This is the best episode on tv I can imagen, the vibe and acting are powerful. Cordy turns into a half demon and we even see Wesley without an arm.

    Tv's at it's best.
  • One of my favorite episodes ever. it reminds me of my favorite 'Hero' only in Cordy style. it was well written and acted. even if it didn't have a classical line it had one of the most classical scenes. the one where Cordy kisses Angel in the blue room. b

    Birthday

tremendous and powerfull episode. just really amazing. Cordy is just the best character ever. her visions are killing her and get taken by a demon named Skip and he gives her another life or else she'll die. she becomes a very famous actresse but she still finds her way over to Angel and kisses him giving his visions to her. then she asks Skip to demonize her and that's the only way for her not to die. at the end of the episode she has a vision and floats. Amazing episode and one of my favourites. Specially in that blue room.

cut to Cordy crying and telling someone that she loves it and that it's always been there for her. and then we see Fred applauding on the floor. Cordy was doing her famous speech if she ever ets famous and it gave Fred chills. Cordy says she'll never get to do it cause of the job she has now. then comes Angel with Connor and they wanna touch it but Angel doesn't let them and Cordy has to friss herself a little up and goes to the bathroom. then comes Wesley in and asks where she is. Cordy is in her room taking some pills and then she goes out and the gang sings a song for her and have a cake. she's very happy and Angel lets her hold the babies and everyone has presents. but then she tells Angel to take the baby and then has a vision that hits her into the glass unconsious. Cordy wakes up but then sees her body next to her while the gang try to wake her up 'I'm fine guys, i'm just...dead?'

    the credits start

cut to Cordy talking to the gang but none of them hear her and they have her body on the couch. then comes Lorne and she talks to him but he walks right through her. she tries to tell them about the girl but they can't hear anything and have something she dropped. it's again head migrane and they know that she was keeping something from then and it doesn't help to take her to the hospital. Gunn and Fred are going to her home. then she starts to hear some voices. cut to Fred and Gunn going to Cordy's place and phantome Dennis was waiting for her and then they talk to it and they are gonna tell it about Cordy.

cut to Cordy and Wes and he's reading that she might be there but able to cumminicate. then cut to Cordy's appartment again. Fred and Gunn can't find anything so they ask Dennis to show them and it puts something out the bed and see that she has stuff from over a year ago. cut to Angel talking to Cordy and he's mad that she didn't tell him cause he could have helped her and she says that she should be furious. then comes Lorne and tries to speak with her but he says she isn't in there and Angel forces Lorne to find a place where he can communicate with the powers that be. she waits until Angel is asleep and then goes in his body and tries to write something on the wall. then something pushes her out the body and Cordy comes out of it. Wes comes in and tells Angel that Cordy's results say that she was drying. and then comes some sort of demon to Cordy 'Hey, how's it going?'

Cordy asks if he's death and he laughs but says that he's kidding. he's Skip and he wants her to take her to a place and she says she doesn't wanna die and he says then don't and grabs her hand and they leave. cut to the gang watching picture's of Cordy's brains and most of it is dead and they find it weird and then comes Lorne and he can't tell them where it is but he wrote it down and Angel is going. cut to Cordy and Skip in a mall and then he shows her an image of when Cordy kisses Doyle. he says that she wans't meant to have the visions and they passed over to her because of love. that makes her smile and then he tells about a girl Tammy. she says that her people thought she was a witch but they didn't have to kill her because her last vision blew out the back of her

cut to Angel going to a realm. he talks to the things in there and tells them to save Cordy but they don't wanna talk to him and then start to throw with him and look if he knows what suffering means. cut back to the mall and Skip tells Cordy that she was meant to be a very wealthy actresse and shows her a tape that the first night she met Angel if she had met one great casting director she would have been very famous but in that life is would have been with no Angel and the powers that be can write over it. she doesn't know but Skip says if she goes back to her body she waits until she dies. she says that isn't fair and the takes her to another place.

they arrive to the place that talks to those people and he tells them that she's weak and that they have to help her and Cordy gets upset and asks Skip to take her away. then Angel tells it that he's more afraid of Cordy's dying that she is. cut to Cordy and Skip back and she asks him to turn her. then she's suddenly on a stage and the music intro of her show begins (pretty awesome and very original) then the show ends and Cordy goes to her manager and she wants to do something and goes to a hotel and he sends her to a car on the side door. cut to Cordy going to the hotel and the guy tells her he's taking her to his room...her room. (really funny) she makes him open a room and it's her old room and takes some wallpaper off the wall and sees the 171 oak that she wrote and asks him where that is.

cut to Cordy arriving to a home and a girl opens up and says she's her biggest fan and loves her and asks what she's doing there and she doesn't really know either and asks if something is on and Cynthia says that her dad left her. Cordy wants to go again but she shows her something weird on the ground and Cordy says to better leave but then a demons comes out of it and it attacks them. cut to Gunn and Wes coming in and Wes doesn't have one arm and kills the demon. Cordy says there is something weird with her like sunnydale weird. cut to outside and they're taking the demon. Gunn didn't believe they had something together and Wes tells how he lost his arm and he wants to repress some stuff and Gunn doesn't get that and says you three are the weirdest and Cordy asks about who's the third here.

cut to Cordy and the gang going to a room and Cordy sees that Angel is crazy in a blue room. he's against the walls and he's afraid and then she tells him to to be and kisses him and his visions pas onto her and then she remembers everything. Skip tells her they had a deal or else she'll die but then he says there is another way. if he turns her into half demon and she accepts it. and he says it was an honor being her guide and demonized her and then she wakes up screaming. and checks for horns and tale. the gang is with her and then she says that her vision is taken care of and is having another one without pain and everyone is looking at her floating. 'what?'

    Black Out

    ----------

    Best episode quotes:

Cordelia: I'd - just like to say thank you. You believed in me when no one else would. Even in my darkest hours you were there for me and that means more to me that you'll ever know. I guess what I'm really trying to say is - I love you. - To all my fans: this is for you!

Fred: Wow! That was just - wow. 'cause... oh, and with the tears! I-I got chill bumps all up my arms.

Cordelia: Yup. That's the famous speech. Not that I'll ever use it of course - unless they start handing out awards for best slime and grime.

Angel: Look who's up from his nap.

    Cordelia: Oh, Conner!

Angel: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa - dirty people. Not touching the baby.

Cordelia: But pig-drinking bloodsuckers are okay? - I meant that in a nice way.

Gunn: Don't just stand there. Blow out the candles, girl.

Fred: Did you make a wish?

Cordelia: I sure did. Ah, Jude Law was a little busy, huh?

    Cordelia: I'm fine - you guys. I'll be okay. I'm just...Dead?

Cordelia: Ookay. I get it. This is some kind of bizarre birthday present you guys cooked up. Alright. The joke's on me. Now put me back in my body!

Fred: Oh. Hi there. I-I know we haven't been formally introduced... Actually I'm not sure how to introduce myself to someone who is, you know - former. But, I'm Fred. It's nice to meet you.

Gunn: Fred, you are - you are so cool.

Fred: What's wrong is you picking through Cordy's support - things.

Gunn: What - this? Come on, you're telling me you never hid anything in your underwear drawer?

Fred: I don't know. I mean, for five years I didn't even have... Can we not talk abut my underwear, please?

Angel: Cordy - Look, I know that you can't hear me, but - there is something I have to say. You really piss me off, you know that? I thought we trusted each other. But you've been lying. MRI's and CAT scans? It's been going on for over a year. Why couldn't you let me in? I could have helped you. You make me so furious.

Cordelia: You're furious? I get body-jacked on my birthday, and you're the one that's furious?

Wesley: Fred studied Cordy's latest CAT scans. The news isn't good. The tests show widespread neuro-electrical deterioration.

Cordelia: That's just a fancy way of saying...

    Angel: She's dying.

Cordelia: I think I like the fancy way better.

    Cordelia: You're - you're - death? You've come to take me.

Skip: AHAHAHA Kidding. I'm Skip. You're Cordelia Chase, right? Sorry it took me so long, I... Is this you? Most people go astral, their spiritual shapes tend to be an idealized version of themselves. You know, straighten the nose, lose the gray, sort of a self-esteem kind of thing. You're pretty confident, aren't you?

Cordelia: What is this? Who are you? What the hell is going on?!

Skip: You have questions. I get that. And I'll answer them, too, but first we got to get out of here.

Cordelia: But why? Here is good. I feel really comfortable here. I-I like here.

Skip: But you see, there is a slight problem: you - don't belong here anymore.

    Cordelia: Because I'm dead?

Skip: Not yet. But you will be - very soon - unless - you - come with me.

Cordelia: Well, I'll follow you on-on one condition. You have to tell my friends about this vision that I had.

Skip: Sorry. No can do. I'm not a messenger. I'm just a guide.

    Cordelia: I don't wanna die.

    Skip: So don't.

Cordelia: Is this... This is a mall.

Skip: We just figured you'd be more comfortable here.

    Cordelia: We?

    Skip: The Powers That Be.

Cordelia: The Powers That Be popped me out of my body and sent me to a mall?

Skip: Actually, this is more a construct of a mall. You know, like in the Matrix.

    Cordelia: You've seen the Matrix.

Skip: Oh, I love that flick. When Trinity is all 'dodge this' and the agent just crumples to the and I'm not really instilling any awe anymore, am I?

Cordelia: Why did you bring me here?

Skip: To give you a choice. But, we'll get to that later. Right now there is something I want you to see.

Cordelia: Oh my god. - Doyle.

Skip: This is where it happened, big cosmic whoops. - Doyle was never meant to give you those visions.

Cordelia: The why did the Powers let him?

Skip: Well, they're usually pretty good at catching that sort of thing. What they didn't count on where his feelings for you.

Cordelia: You mean - Doyle gave me the visions because - he loved me?

Skip: I can't answer that. What I can tell you is that it was a mistake.

Cordelia: But I thought the Powers That Be knew everything.

Skip: Life and death, that sort of thing, they got a handle on. Who someone chooses to love, well, that's just good old free will. See Cordelia, the visions are an ancient, powerful force. Demons are the only ones who can withstand them.

Cordelia: But I've had them for more than two years now. Doesn't that mean I'm strong?

Skip: Strong, yes. Demon, no. Just ask Tammy here.

    Cordelia: Tammy where?

    Tammy: Hello, miss?

Skip: This is Tammy. She had the visions back in - sixteen thirty?

Tammy: Aye. Had 'em well neigh on a year, and a hellish year it was, too. Town fathers called me a witch, wanted to burn me at the stake.

Cordelia: They killed you because you had visions?

Tammy: No, miss. They didn't have to. Last vision I had blew out the back of me skull. We wasn't mean to have the visions, us humans. Look, you want my advice, you listen to our man Skip here. He won't steer you wrong, this one.

Skip: Aw, get out of here. Really. Get out. I've got work.

Voices: It is come. The champion is come. Come for what? Answers not to be had. Death is certain. Death awaits.

Angel: I wanna talk to the conduit.

Voices: We are the conduit. We are the gateway, the all the time, the ever. It wishes to speak to us.

Angel: Yes, it does. Are you gonna show yourselves?

Voices: We are unseen. Formless. It speaks unknowing. Send it away.

Angel: I'm not going anywhere until I get my message to the Powers That Be. My friend - Cordelia - has visions given to her by the Powers. They're killing her. I want the Powers to take them back. - Let her go. She's suffered enough!

Voices: Suffering? Does it know suffering? Yes it does. - The Powers owe nothing. Send it away. Send it away.

Skip: You ever have the vague sensation that maybe you left the oven on? Or that you're supposed to call someone back, you just forgot who it was? More to the point, have you ever felt that way about your acting career?

Cordelia: I don't have an acting career.

Skip: Which sort of brings me to my next point.

Cordelia: Hey! I remember that night.

Skip: You'd been in LA for a few months, things had been kind of lean, and who should you run into?

Skip: Your entire life changed that night. In ways you couldn't imagine. Indescribably painful ways, I think you'll agree. Now, what if the play ran a little different? You're on the sideline over here, talking to a couple wanna-be moguls. Angel is down field here. Instead of cutting through the middle to meet Angel, what if you'd been forced to counter? What if this guy, who happens to be a very powerful talent agent, flanks you and drew you off side? What would happen then?

Cordelia: I'd, ah, score a touchdown?

Skip: Metaphorically speaking, heck, yeah! Inside every living thing there is a connection to the Powers That Be. Call it instinct, intuition. Deep down we all know our purpose in this world.

Cordelia: Are you saying that - I was meant to be an actress?

Skip: No. I'm saying you were meant to be an incredibly famous and wealthy actress. And the Powers That Be can make that happen.

Cordelia: They can do that? They can turn back time?

Skip: They don't go for that - much. Think of it as 'writing over history.' From this moment on you could live the life you always wanted. No monsters, no visions, no dying. Well, not for a long time, anyway.

    Cordelia: But no Angel.

Skip: Cordelia, I want you to listen to me. If you go back inside your body, you won't wake up. You will lie there, unable to move, unable to speak - until the next vision hits you and then you will die.

Cordelia: But that's not fair. How's Angel gonna know to save that girl if I don't tell him where she is? He needs me.

    Skip: Let's go in here.

Voices: Its pleas are pointless. Her path is chosen. We will not interfere.

Angel: The visions are too much. She's not strong enough to handle them.

Voices: Obstinate. It speaks and does not listen.

Angel: No, you're not listening! Cordelia is not a champion. She is a rich girl from Sunnydale who likes to play superhero. She doesn't have what it takes to do this! Don't the Powers get that? Stop whispering and listen to me, damn it! She's weak.

Cordelia: Skip. Get me out of here. Now!

Angel: You're killing her. She's unconscious, and she's alone. Who knows if she's in pain?

Voices: It is angry. It is afraid.

Angel: I'm more afraid of her dying than she is. - What is that?

Skip: Cordelia - are you sure?

Cordelia: You gave me a choice, so I'm choosing.

Skip: Okay, kid. Here goes. I'm gonna make you a star.

    Cordelia: Hi. Excuse me.

Concierge: Ah, yes, how can we help... Oh, Miss Chase. How can you help me? Ah, how can I help with... How can we help you?

Cordelia: I believe my assistant made a reservation.

Concierge: Ah. The, ah, luxury suite. I will take you right up to my room. Your room, I meant.

Cordelia: So, you - like - kill things now? Cause last time I saw you, you just kind of fainted in front of them.

Wesley: Cordelia, why on earth are you here?

Cordelia: I know, I know. Reseda. It's practically the ninth circle of hell.

Wesley: Not Reseda. Here in this house. Is that girl a friend of yours?

Cordelia: Oh, look, I know we haven't seen each other in a while, Wesley, and... But there is something weird going on with me. Like Sunnydale weird.

Cynthia: Oh, my god. My mom is gonna freak.

Cordelia: ...and underneath the wallpaper was an address. This address. So, for absolutely no sane person reason I can think of, I come out here and whammo! Slimy monster fun time. What's up with that?

Wesley: I'm not sure. I'd have to consult my books.

    Cordelia: Some things never change.

Wesley: Oh, sorry. This is my partner, Charles Gunn.

Gunn: Man, Wes told me he knew you, but I-I didn't believe him.

Cordelia: Yeah, we go way back. Back to, uhm, when - you had two arms, which, by the way...

Wesley: Ah, Kungai demon a couple of years ago.

Gunn: Hey, is it true that you and Wes were... You know, that you had a little...

Cordelia: ...humiliating kiss where he drooled all over my chin? Yeah. But I worked really hard to repress it.

Wesley: Right. Well, as much as I'm enjoying this forced death march down memory lane...

Gunn: Hey, what is it with you Sunnydale folks and repression? I mean, you three are the most denying it folks I've ever met.

Cordelia: Three? Who else is here in LA?

Wesley: Cordelia, I want you to think about this. Angel's not the person you knew. He came to Los Angeles in pain, vulnerable - and when Doyle, his only friend died he - he retreated into himself.

Gunn: Him getting the visions didn't help either.

Cordelia: So, let me get this straight. Angel gets the visions of people who are gonna die, and he tells you, and you go out and slay, and - this is how you make your living? This - got to be the suckiest job in the world.

Gunn: It pays the bills - occasionally.

Wesley: Don't be shocked by his condition. The visions have taken a toll - and the isolation. Sometimes he sends us out to save people he killed two hundred years ago. So, why don't we just tell him you stopped by and said hi?

Cordelia: Wesley. I've gotta see him.

Wesley: Restraints. Sometimes the visions make him violent.

Angel: One seven one Oak drive, do you hear me? I feel better now. I can be alone here. I won't run away...

    Cordelia: Oh my god.

Wesley: This is one of his good days.

    Angel: No, I - I won't. I won't do that. I won't do... I didn't mean... I didn't mean... Only if it's dead. It's me. It was my fault. It was me. I'm okay. I didn't mean... I didn't mean...

    Wesley: Don't get too close.

Angel: Ah! I won't run away.

Cordelia: Angel. - Do you remember me? Cordelia?

Angel: No. I'm afraid. I'm afraid. I'm afraid.

Cordelia: Shh. Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you.

Angel: I'm fine. Fine. One seven one. One seven one. You'll see. You'll see, one seven one. My head doesn't hurt. My head doesn't hurt. Now I'm warm. My head doesn't hurt.

Cordelia: You don't remember me, do you?

Angel: I was there. I wanted to die. But - but I was - was afraid to die. So afraid to die. One seven one.

Cordelia: Shh, Angel, it's okay. Everything is gonna be okay.

Angel: It was my fault. I was there. I couldn't do anything. There was nothing I could do.

Cordelia: Everything is gonna be okay. I remember everything. The visions they're mine.

Skip: We made a deal. You gave up the visions, not to mention the certain death that goes with them, and you get to live out your dream. Call me crazy, but I thought that was a pretty fair trade.

Cordelia: Sure it's fair. But it wasn't me.

Skip: We've been over this. I respect what you're trying to do. It's noble and heroic, and all that other Russle Crowe 'Gladiator' crap.

    Cordelia: You've seen...

Skip: Didn't love it. The fact remains that humans are not strong enough to harbor the visions! Period. Even the Powers That Be can't change that.

Cordelia: Then find a loop hole, Skip. I know my purpose in this world and it includes the visions. And if the Powers That Be aren't complete dumb-asses, they know it, too.

Skip: There maybe a - tiny - loophole.

    Cordelia: I'll take it.

Skip: You may wanna think about that. The only way you get to keep the visions is by becoming - part demon. The process isn't easy. It'll make your vision pain feel like a stroll through candyland. And even after the pain subsides the effects of the transition will be numerous and unpredictable. You may never be able to lead a human life again.

Cordelia: So - demonize me already.

Skip: It was an honor being your guide, Cordelia Chase.
