IMO, this isn't great news. From the article, it seems like Brian Lynch, not Joss, is going to be running the comic.  Also, Joss said it is going to be a 12 issue miniseries. I'll probably say otherwise when it gets released, but if all your going to do is 12 issues (which is maybe equivalent to what, 3 or 4 episodes) and Joss isn't going to run it, why bring it back?

I think it's wonderful news myself. Joss is co-plotting this with the other guy, so yeah. And just because it's only 12 issues don't mean there won't be further issues down the road if sales are good.

    Not by Joss?
Even if they got written by a 12-year old Spike-fan, i'd still want them.
    I'm not picky anymore.

    Well, you're lucky.

    It's actually written by a late 20's Spike-fan.

I disagree, Joss created the Buffy/Angel universe, nobody can measure up to him

No, nobody can measure up to Joss. But the man can't be expected to do everything. And if you never give anybody else a chance, how do you know they don't measure up to Joss?

Simple: NOBODY measures upto Joss. Its true, nobody has the genius insight he does. If you watch the DVD special features, he seems to come up with the bestest dialogue/changes to the script. I will give the guy a chance, he just cant be as good as Joss

I know, beleive me, I'm one of the hugest Joss fans out there. But being a big fan of his means more than just liking the work he's done. It means trusting his decisions, and his decision (and beleif) is that this story will be it's absolute BEST if Brian Lynch is writing it, and not him.

I think we can all agree that Joss will always do what's best for the story, no matter what. If he thought it was best that he write it, then he'd be writing it.

For me, the only writer who even comes close to Joss is Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. I would love it if the two of them were to ever collaborate on a project

Good point, I'll put my faith in his decision then

FWIW, fans have unanimously praised his previous Spike work, Spike:Asylum.

In fact, it was reading this story that Joss decided that Brian was good enough to write After The Fall.
