In other news, my parents live in one of the areas without power due to the ice storm. Fortunately they have a generator, but no hot water or phone service. My mom had to borrow my uncle's cell phone since Verizon is the only service working. (Can you hear me now?) My dad is planning to get up at 4 tomorrow to wait in line for gas. The generator doesn't run on happy thoughts.

Oh, and everything is cash only...

How are your parents getting on Auntie? Did your dad manage to get some gas?

I'm not sure. My uncle's cell phone is pretty crappy amd cut out when my mom called. I don't think I'll hear from them again until they get some stuff settled. Thanks for asking though.

Got an update. My dad was able to get gas. They were able to bring gas in on barges, but they had problems getting the gas to the stations. Then the stations had to figure out how to get power so they could pump it.

My dad's been going through withdrawl not being able to get on the computer.

That sucks for your parents Auntie.

I remember our horrible ice storm from a few years ago. I got really sick, and the only place in town with power was the other McDonald's store in town. I had to work there with a 104* temperature. I vowed to never work at the other store again. It was a nightmare. Being the only place in town with power we got bombarded with people. People had to wait at least 20 minutes for coffee since we can only brew two pots at a time and it seems like everyone was ordering a pot of coffee per order (3 or more large cups).

The first day without power wasn't so bad. Everyone was joking and acting like it was some big adventure. By the third day ... well, it sucked bad. Especially since I could barely stand up and my boss wouldn't let me go home. We were too busy and shorthanded since most people still couldn't make it to work. To top things off we only got a 15 minute break instead of our usual 30 minute break. 15 minutes is not enough of a break for a 9 hour day.

But, I'm not bitter at all.

I've learned three things just now. 3 large cups of McDonalds cofee is equivalent to a pot. Cordy's not bitter and ITL likes to lick things.

I guess I really already knew that last one.

Thanx for the update Auntie.... im really glad that your dad managed to get some gas... at least their generator will be running for a wee while... u and they must be very relieved. I cant imagine what we would be like if we ever got storms like that... we get a couple of inches of snow and the whole country grinds to a halt! Saying that tho.. they've given out severe weather warnings for the rest of the week... mainly snow so i might get in touch for some coping strategies

OOhhh pc withdrawal is not good (or is that pcp withdrawal i always get them mixed up )

    I'm the kind of guy
Who'll look you in the eye
    And lick ya!

(Substitute those lines for the ones in this song for full melodic effect. TRIVIA!: Guess which one of those guys had a cameo in SPACED?)

Tish: They knew it was an area prone to ice storms so they've been prepared.

ITL: You find the strangest clips.

I couldn't remember any of them in Spaced. I think I need to watch it again to refresh my memory...
