    I'm glad you liked it.
But it's a shame, I think you should have watched that episode as last. Then the shock would have been much bigger.

I think Gunn's entrance takes on a new poignancy if you see the finale first.

It's all good. I saw "Long Day's Journey" in s4 first and I got into the show anyway.

You mean you started your obsession with the very season you so (relatively) despise? Liek, whoa.

For some reason I always take some little bit of pride out of the fact that I was on board from the very beginning of the Buffyverse, an original fan you might say, despite the fact that I was only seven when Sarah Michelle Gellar's show debuted. (Hey, that's why I caught the first episode -- my older brother thought she was, you know...and now later, since I'm older, I definitely understand why he decided to tune in for a show that he otherwise was uninterested. And for that, I thank him. And truly, I must also thank SMG, for being so, you know, and attracting my brother's attention. Thank you, Sarah. Thank you.)

Well, I probably would never have gotten into the 'verse at all unless my sister hadn't brought B-S2 on dvd to my house and I was just enthralled by it.

"Long Days Journey" didn't get me into "Angel." It was merely the first ep I saw.

I did watch "Angel" from the very first episode when TNT started running them in syndication -- alongside S5 which was the first season I ever watched as it was aired. (B-S7 was being aired Saturday nights at 11 p.m. on ABC in this market when I started watching it -- way towards the end of the season, too -- and it came in terribly. I caught up on all of the "Buffies" on FX).

TNT hadn't gotten the rights for S4 so halfway through S5 they started over with S1 and I was still not entirely clear on everything that led up to their being in charge of W&H. Grr. I think I saw all the way through S4 by about March of 2004 -- by which point it was announced for sure that S5 would be the last season.

I was heartbroken, but happy to have discovered the show in time to get really, really excited by it.

Hell, I didn't even see "Firefly" 'til November of 2004, but you know what they say: There's no zeal like that of a convert.

ah, pretty cool/ So you're actually not a very long fan?
    glad you found this show.

I wish I had given Angel as much attention when I could.
After Hero/Parting Gifts I quit watching and got hooked again two years later by Lullaby.
I did catch a few episodes (only one season 2) but Lullaby got me watching every week.

thank god my mom has a job and could buy me the dvd's.

My first TVTome post was in Oct. of 2003, shortly after I started watching "Angel" with any regularity.

Before then, I can't honestly say I had much of an idea who Joss Whedon was.

Now I'd read his grocery lists.

I'm pretty sure the title I was parodying was Snakes on a Plane, moa.

But no, the joke isn't ruined at all in having to explain it.

Or more to the point, Snakes on a Melonfarming Plane

Nah, I just add drifting into every franchise - even the ones that have already been spliced. Like the rerelease of LotR:RotK with the extended elephant drifting sequence, Episode I: The Phantom Menace (With 20% More Drifting!) and who can forget Good Will Drifting.

Though, if we're talking about non-Tokyo Drifting titles , my absolute favorite is The Perfect Twistergeddon: Apocalypse.

Well, then, that would sort of be your inside joke and I didn't forget anything.

There can be two jokes, yes?

When you begin to watch Angel, make sure you catch all the Buffy crossovers (which means, if you haven't bought Buffy Seasons 4, 5 and 7, please do so). You have to watch them in order. I can't remember them all, but the ones I remember go like this:

    B4.03 / A1.03

    A4.07 / B4.08 / A4.08

B4.15 / B4.16 / A1.18 / A1.19 (though I don't know why it takes over a week for Faith to get from Sunnydale to LA)

    B5.07 / A2.07

B5.17 (not really necessary to watch as there was no corresponding Angel episode, Angel just showed up after a certain character's funeral)

I don't remember what episode Willow said she was leaving, because by Season 7 Buffy and Angel were on different channels so the episode numbers were way out of sync, but she turned up in Angel 4.15.
