    LULLABY

    The Good;
All of it, pretty damn brilliant, especially love Holtz raiding the club. The Lilah and the interpreter scene is also great, no such thing as a minor character on Angel.
Interpreter (horrified); "You highlighted an ancient gushundi text?"
    Lilah (defensively); "In yellow"

    The Bad;
Even if it's just a stun grenade wouldn't Lilah and Holtz be deafened for hours afterwards? Why can't they just resoul Darla?

    Best line:
Sahjahn; "He's using product but he's the same guy"

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Darla and Angelus slaughtering Holtz's family is beyond horrible. Holtz's killing his sired daughter is the strongest and most tragic act in the series, your heart just bleeds for him.

Lullaby was a really great episode of Angel and really makes a great begining to the midseason spectacular. I think this episode ties together many story lines and really starts to bring every thing closer together. There was some good character development in this episode as well as action, intrigue, mystery, and drama. I really look forward to finding out what happens next. The characters really have been through a lot and this episode show cases their struggles. I can't wait to find out what Darla's baby has in store for the future, and for Angel. This was a very entertaining episode with lots of possibilities and I can't wait to see what happens next!!!!!!!
  • Goodbye Darla.

    9.8
    "Superb"
Lullaby is an outstanding episode and my personal favourite of Season 3. Everything about it was marvellously done and it contains the death of my favourite character; Darla. The entire episode was so beautiful. Darla, after all the destruction and pain she has caused, sacrifices her life for her son. The last scene was such a tearjerker and I had to contain myself from howling with misery. Julie Benz completely outshines every member of the cast here and the scene on the rooftop and the scene in the alley was Emmy-award worthy. This Darla reminds me so much of the human Darla in The Trial- finally accepting death and atoning for her sins. This baby was the only thing she had ever loved in 400 years alive and to watch her so scared of killing it when it leaves her is gut wrenching but nothing compared to her last speech to Angel. "You died in an alley.. remember?" just made me think of the huge length of time that has passed since Angel became a vampire. The bit where she actually stakes herself was shocking and even after watching it for a fourth time, I still feel emotionally numb afterwards. She finally redeemed herself and gave life when she has previously only given death. Her end is so fitting and perfect- I wouldn't change it for anything. A truly memorable scene.

However while this scene was the clear highlight of the episode, the rest of the episode was outstanding even without it. I loved the flashbacks into Holtz's past, particularly the scene where he kills his little girl. I truly felt for him here and felt a surge of hatred for Darla but that disappeared when I saw how much she had changed. I actually found Holtz pretty menacing here as he was walking through Caritas, which he has just blown up. He finally felt like a threat this episode and I do think he is one of the most complex villains in the entire series- he's going after our main character but some small part wants him to get his revenge. It makes the whole storyline more interesting. However, the less said about the awful Sahjhan the better.

The Wolfram and Hart scenes were also great and I enjoyed seeing how Lilah has so much power at her disposal- she's so self-confident and is more than a match for Angel investigations. Linwood is OK but not as good as Holland and Gavin is suitably annoying and makes me want Lilah to kill him. Gunn's speech about Angel's baby wasn't all that wrong IMO- the gang weren't to know that Angel's baby wasn't evil and if they had have been right, they needed someone to step up and say that it has to die. Angel was clearly blinded by love (which unfortunately continued into S4 even though Connor pretty much does everything possible to hurt him). I hate Connor as a character but his annoyingness isn't enough to make me dislike this episode- he was going to be there no matter what. I was quite sad to see the end of Caritas- I loved the karaoke club and thought it was a great set but they needed to pull Lorne into the group more and this was a great sendoff for a place that's seen some.. erm interesting thing.

Lullaby is an absolutely heartbreaking episode and is in my Top 10 Angel episodes. It was near enough perfect and Darla's death is one of my favourite scenes of TV ever. A fitting sendoff for an amazing character and a great way to introduce a new one. Unmissable.
  • In this episode, the previous lifetaker has been made lifegiver. Quite unexpected.

This is wonderful. It shows a whole new side to Darla's character, in that she finally and for once regrets what they've done together. Even when she was human, she never cared about the destruction she caused. Yes, she remains an uncaring person (or vampire) but she spills her fears about this inherent flaw in her vamp nature to Angel. And, unpredictable as always, she stakes herself, which is something viewers probably never anticipated. Angel's last stand in the rain tenderly wrapping up his very-much-alive baby and staring with an utterly vulnerable and take-me-as-i-am look at the guy who wants to kill him really communicated to me that Angel was transformed by both Darla's transformation and self-sacrifice (while unknowing) and his new role as father.
  • The Good, The Bad and The Birth!

    9.6
    "Superb"
Lullaby-With Darla's contractions getting closer together, the Angel Investigations gang is surprised when she flies into a frenzy and runs away from them. Now Angel must track her down in time to safely deliver their baby. However, their old nemesis -- the vampire hunter, Holtz -- is now in present day L.A., and after hundreds of years he is finally closing in on his quarry. The Good: One of the best episodes of the season with Julie Benz's fine performance and some nice direction. The scene where Darla breaks down about loving her child so much and knowing she will not be able to love it after it's born is heartbreaking. It would make sense that since the baby has a soul that Darla would too, since it's inside of her. The Bad: Holtz is an mediocre villian at this point, I mean I get the revenge and him playing the part of in this prophecy, but I find him more of an annoyance than an actually threat. I mean, his just a human after all. And Sahjin is comletely useless throughout this hour besides taunting Hotlz about killing Angel, boring.

The Birth: The birth scene is stunning with a touching farwell to Darla as she gives up her life for her unborn child. It's really suspenseful and powerful as she dusts herself and the baby lies in the rain crying with Angel slowly picking him up and embracing his son.

All and All, a superb episode with great acting and powerful dialogue which is a pivotal moment as Angel is now a father!
  • "There will be no birth, only death." Darla finds love in a dark alley and Angel becomes a father.

    10
    "Perfect"
This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire season. So much happens and in such a dramatic way. We finally get a translation of the prophecy said there would be no birth, only death. Holtz finds out that Angel has a soul and this sows the seed of the revenge he will exact against Angel for destroying his family, especially after he learns Darla is pregnant. Ironically, just before she dies, Darla realizes how much they had done to hurt Holtz. I loved how Darla is transformed by the child she is carrying, and finally knows what love is. The only love she has really understood is that for her unborn child. The scene when Darla stakes herself to save Connor was so powerful, the images stayed with me a long time after I watched it.

    Favorite scenes:

Darla: What do I have to offer a child, a *human* child, besides ugly death?

    Angel: Darla.

    Darla: You know it's true.

Angel: No. What I do know is that you love this baby, our baby. You've bonded with it. You've spent nine months carrying it, nourishing it...

Darla: No. No, I haven't been nourishing it. I haven't given this baby a thing. I'm dead. It's been nourishing me. These feelings that I'm having, they're not mine. They're coming from it.

    Angel: You don't know that.

Darla: Of course I do! We both do.

Angel, I don't have a soul. It does. And right now that soul is inside of me, but soon, it won't be and then.. I won't be able to love it. I won't even be able to remember that I loved it. (Starts to cry) I want to remember.

    Just before Darla stakes herself:

Darla: We did so many terrible things together. So much destruction, so much - pain, we can't make up for any of it. You know that, don't you?

    Angel: Yeah.

Darla: This child, Angel, it's the one good thing we ever did together. The only good thing... You make sure to tell him that.
  • Connor

    "Great"
My main problem with this episode, though I loved it, is that there is so much going on. It's not exactly hard to keep track of or anything like that but it's a lot. Everyone does a lot of moving around, several flashbacks take place while all still contending with soon to be birth of Angel's son. Not to mention it's part of a long series of carry over episodes so if you haven't seen the two before this you're potentially going to be very confused. However that won't bother fans who have seen the previous episode, and obviously the previous seasons. The ending scene of this episode makes it all worth it though. They really went for the integrity of the moment, having it basicly raining cats and dogs through out. After some talking Darla stakes herself to save her unborn child, Connor. It's quite a powerful moment when Angel picks up his son for the first time, just as Holtz emerges from the now totally destroyed Caritas. David's intensity in this scene really feels genuine, especially considering he doesn't have a lot of dialogue to work with. One thing I still to this day do not understand though is why Holtz didn't kill Angel right then and there?

    "Superb"
wow. wow, wow, wow, wow. me-being the awful spoiler-ish person that i am, watched this episode before i watched Offspring or Quickening, so I had no idea what was going on. I cried anyway.

It was a great episode, and even though it was almost pure angst, it still had it's funny moments.

but c'mon. what Angel ep doesn't have angst?

anyways, the last scene was so incredible. i loved Darla's character, and the trouble she caused. Yet all of the episodes she'd been in made her seem so.....well.....unhuman, which she was, but still.

in this episode, she cries, loves, gives a heartrending speech in the rain (in the middle of an alley, nonetheless.), and sacrifices herself for her son. After her speech, not a word is spoken for a couple minutes, but nothing needed to be said.

Angel stares at his son, then slowly picks him up. For a minute he just holds him with Fred standing nearby. Then he turns to see Holtz, armed with bow and arrow. Angel protects the small boy, and Holtz stays poised until he slowly lowers his weapon. The rest of the gang drives up in Angel's convertible, and they drive away with newborn Connor.

In the traditional Whedon-way, the fabulous scene is ruined with a foreboding ending. Of course.

But that doesn't stop this from being one of my favourite episodes of Angel.

In fact, the only reason why I gave this ep a '9' is because I only remember it because of that scene, and the one with Angel and Darla on the roof. The rest is eh.
  • Goodbye Darla, you finally did something good.

This was one of the best eps ever. I found myself crying my eyes out by the time it ended. Just when you think you have it all figured out...something happens totally unexpected and you do a complete turnaround. I thought there was nothing redeeming about Vampire Darla, and even though she explained it away as sharing her unborn childs soul, it really touched me to see how she had bonded with him. Too bad she couldnt have stayed, but she knew she had to die to let him be born. She also knew her warm and fuzzy feelings wouldnt last once he was outside of her body. I still cry everytime I watch this.

after two episodes of darla being back she has to leave again. she suffered enough with the baby but now loves it. but she cant bring it on the world because its dying inside

when i first watched this episode i had tears all over my face i had tears coming out of my ears and other places. darla loved the child and she had to sacrifice herself to bring it to the horrible world. the episode was amazing and we saw a baby in the rain at the end crying and that was beuatiful
  • One of the best episodes of Angel ever! Every part of it is great, and the ending is phenomenal.

We left off with Angel confronting Holtz in the Hyperion, and with Darla going through more pains of pregnancy in the back seat of Angel's car in an alley with the rest of the gang. Angel escapes from Holtz, but doesn't make it back to everyone else before Darla leaves with the car after an attack by demons. Angel goes after Darla while everyone else looks for a place to have the birth. Angel finds Darla at the waterfront and convinces her that she must give birth to this child. They go back to Caritas for the birth, but it is immediately disrupted by Holtz, who intends to kill both Angel and Darla. Caritas is yet again destroyed when Holtz blows it up lighting the place on fire. Angel isn't gonna let his child die, even though the cards are down for him. His child is eventually born, but at a cost. In order to save the child Darla had to stake herself. With Angel's child born a series of events are set into motion. This is easily one of my favorite episodes of Angel ever. It is full of emotion. From Angel's confrontation with Holtz, to Darla staking herself. Amidst all this there is still some humor to be had [Fred slapping Gunn in the club to see if the spell has worked or not]. Lullaby is a must see and one of the best episodes of Angel ever.

  • "wow!" doesn't even come close to covering this episode.... this is angel at it's best

this is one of my favourite episodes of any angel series. the whole thing is amazing and a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish...

the climax of the scene in the alley is my top moment... i sobbed my heart out for darla...

the acting and scripts were faultless, as ws the direction and scene setting... julie benz does herself proud as darla, tragically acknowledging the fact that she loves her child and knows she'll never remember as soon as he is born, therefore staking herself... i sat there with my hand over my mouth, tears rolling down my face for ages afterwards...

    a truly outstanding episode

    Lullaby

This episode has like the past two some really unnecessary and unfun stuff. I really don't like Lindwood. but it has some scenes that are really just soo strong. they made the weaker ones really fade away. the scene where Holtz throws his daughter in the fire for example. but the best is without a doubt the last scene. it's magical. Darla's last words. the child is the only thing she and Angel did good together. he has to tell the baby that and then she stakes herself. really beautifully filmed in the rain. such a powerful ending to a powerful character.

cut to Angel. Holtz and his man grab Angel. Angel says he's changed but Holtz doesn't believe him cause Angel is still a vampire and he promise him that justice will come. cut to the car. they need to go and Wes tells Darla to breath and she hits them all away 'I DON'T BREATH!' an starts to cry.

    the credits start

cut to Holtz going to his house and finding his wife dead. but his daughter Sarah is there and she says that her mom won't wake up. Holtz sings her a lullaby but sees that she has been turned into a vampire. she acts like a normal girl but has the marks of the vampire in her neck. cut to the office again. Lindwood is a big coward and says he doesn't know about what happened and Gavins afraid they are gonna crucify them but Lilah says they don't do that here cause it's too Christian. cut back to Holtz and Angel. Holtz says there was nothing to give up cause Angel killed his family. Angel says they never got his soul but Holtz doesn't care what he says then he says that maybe Angel did change indeed.

cut to the gang waking up Wes who was knocked out. they then get into the car and Darla wants someone to sit with her but they don't wanna cause the water broke on the back seat. then they see a lot of demons close to them. cut to Holtz an Angel still talking. a demon comes in and tells Holtz that they have her and to bring her in. it's Lilah and Holtz says she's not even a vampire. then Lilah wants to go but Holtz doesn't wanna let her and Angel grabs a granite and makes it explode and he goes out of the office. Holtz needs to find Angel and Lilah tells him that Darla is still evil. Holtz leaves and Liah calls someone to clean up the hotel and she finds the scroll and brings them with her,

cut to the others and Darla kills the demon with the car and then leaves with it. Angel joins the fang gang and asks what they are looking at. later Angel tells them about the prophecies and Fred things that maybe if Holtz kills the baby it ends the world. Angel needs to find Darla before Holtz does and he didn't get the scrolls. cut to a man and Lilah. she has the scrolls and the man will try to translate and if he doesn't Lilah will make his family get killed. cut to Sahjhan and Holtz. Holtz has to do it another way now. and he asks if Sahjhan did take something else and didn't tell him and Sahjhann says there is nothing he can think of.

cut to a big building. Darla is watching down and Angel comes to join her. she says that this is a horrible world. why would anyone want to bring something in it. Angel says she has to. there is no other way. she says she can't cause when she does. it's the only thing she has every loved. she says she hasn't done anything for it. the baby is the one who has been giving her things. she says that the soul is giving her these feelings. she says that when she has it she won't remember that she loved it. she won't be able but she wants to remember that she loves it.

cut to the karaoke bar. Lorne is opening it and he doesn't want Darla to have the baby. he fires one of the workers cause he's not doing the job well. cut to Darla and Angel. she says that when she has it he has to protect her from harming it. then they call Angel and tell him they found a place. they are looking if human violence can be stopped but it isn't working yet. cut to Angel going to Darla. he thinks she's having a contraction but she says it's something else. cut to Lilah and that man. he says that when it happens there will be no birth just death.

cut to a flashback. Holtz is there and he has to do something. he grabs his Sarah and throws her in the sunlight where she burns to death. cut to Lorne's place. it started to rain and Darla and Angel arrive. it still doesn't work. Darla is still feeling bad and she's experiencing something else. then they go to the bedroom and Fred sees blood on Darla's chair. cut to the place where Holtz and Sahjhan is. then that guy comes and lets the voice things and Holtz hears where Angel and Darla are. cut to Angel speaking to the rest. Darla is listening. they tell him to prefer for the worst. the thing that has been protecting him won't let it out. it will die that way. Angel doesn't want that cause it's not fair after all this. Angel goes to Darla and Cordy hits Gunn but she can't. the spell worked.

cut to Angel going to Darla. she calls him a her. she says he's dying. she feels the life going away. she says she can't offer him anything. she can't even give him life. cut to the guys again. Holtz comes in and Lorne tells him to come tomorrow when it's opening and Holtz goes away singing and Lorne reads it and tells everyone to just run and then something comes downstairs and it explodes. cut to Angel and Darla. he grabs her and he hears the explosion. the rest comes and Angel tells Darla that Holtz is here. she says after what they did to him. it's the perfect time. it's their punishment. then Angel brakes the wall and they go out.

they come in the rain and Angel tells the gang to get the car and he stays behind with Darla cause she can’t anymore. Fred stays with them. Darla says she wants to say she's sorry and mean it but she can't. this child is the only thing they ever did good together. he has to tell him that. and the she grabs a stake and stakes herself. after the dust Angel sees a baby crying in the rain. she grabs it. when Holtz comes he sees Angel with the baby in his arms. he lets him go with Fred in the car. Sahjhan tells Holt to do it but he says not now. he promised he wasn't gonna share mercy and he won't.

    Black Out

    ----------

    Best episode quotes:

Wesley: Now it's up to us to protect Angel's unborn child. - Darla, we're trying to take you out of here. Relax. The trick is to breathe. Something like this: Heh, heh, heh, hoh, hoh, hoh, heh, heh, heh...

    Darla: I! Don't! Breathe!

    Gavin: He's gonna crucify us.

Lilah: They don't crucify here. It's too Christian.

Angel: You're still human. How'd you manage this?

Holtz: So, the question becomes - now that I have you - what's the best way to get her?

Angel: Only dark magics could have brought you this far.

Holtz: She was always the trick, you know, not you. Darla was the unpredictable one.

Angel: Was it a demon - or something else?

Holtz: What if I just - kill you now? Would she somehow sense it? Would she then come running? Would that bring her bursting through those doors, I wonder?

Angel: Did something come to you, or did you seek it out?

Holtz: She might show herself in the service of revenge. - It can be a powerful motivator.

Angel: Yes, it can. What did you have to give up for this second chance?

Holtz: Give up? I had nothing to give up. You saw to that.

Angel: We took a lot from you, that's true. But we didn't get everything. We couldn't take your soul.

Holtz: What do you know of a soul.

Angel: I know yours will be destroyed if you allow yourself to be used in the service of evil. - You're a good man, Holtz. A righteous man - and you're being used - for some purpose - other than justice.

Holtz: Could it be you really have changed? - I don't remember you ever pleading so cravenly before.

Angel: And I remember you used to work with men.

    Gunn: Smack him again.

    Wesley: Ow. That hurts.

Cordelia: Well, you know what they say: birth -painful.

Wesley: Yes, but generally for the mother, not the bystanders. How long have I been out?

Fred: Not long, but we seem to be between contractions now.

Cordelia: Yep. She's been doing that.

    Gunn: Hormones.

Wesley: Come on then. Darla? Darla, do you feel well enough to travel? Good.

Darla: Doesn't anyone wanna sit back here with me?

    Cordelia: We're good.

    Gunn: Yeah, it's - comfy.

Darla: I promise I won't throw anyone out of the car. - Not while it's moving.

Fred: It's not that we don't trust you. I mean, we don't trust you. But the fact is, your water broke all over the back seat.

    Darla: Oh.

Holtz: Are you still concerned about my soul, Angelus? My vampire priest? Excuse me. You've got her. Good. Bring her in.

    Angel: Lilah.

Holtz: This isn't her. She's not even a vampire.

    Lilah: No, I'm an attorney.

Angel: Let me guess: dead guys all over my floor - friends of yours?

Lilah: Look, if I'd known you were torturing him, I wouldn't have interrupted. Please, continue. I'll wait until your finished.

Holtz: When I'm finished, he'll be dead.

    Lilah: Really?

Holtz: You say you're an attorney. You deal in man's laws, I deal in god's.

Lilah: Ah, right. A good guy.

Holtz: Do you know what he is?

Lilah: Yeah, I know. Vampire, cursed by gypsies who restored his soul. Destined to atone for centuries of evil, wacky sidekicks, yada, yada. I'd have him killed myself, except the people I work for have this 'policy.'

    Holtz: Hm.

    Lilah: Hmm.

Holtz: What does she mean 'cursed by gypsies?'

Angel: Long story, Holtz. I doubt it would interest you much.

Lilah: How about I go to my car for about twenty seconds? That should give you enough time in here. Then I gotta call some people to clean this mess up. I've got an early staff meeting in the morning.

Holtz: I can't allow you to leave.

Lilah: What do you mean? Of course you can.

Holtz: No. You said you work for the law.

    Lilah: No, I didn't. I said I'm a lawyer. I don't care about the law.

Angel: You always did love a view.

Darla: Look at it. Listen to it. Can you smell it? This world. This horrible world. Why would anyone want to bring a baby into it?

Angel: To make it better, maybe?

Darla: Or to destroy it finally.

Angel: Why is it everyone insists on planning my son's future before he's even born?

Darla: Alright then, how's this? It doesn't have a future. Not with me.

    Angel: Darla...

Darla: Angel, I can't have this baby.

    Angel: What?

    Darla: I can't let it out. I-I can't.

Angel: Okay, not sure you have a lot of choice in the matter...

Darla: Look, I know. It wants to come out. I can feel it. It's ready. It's just - I can't let it. I can't let because... because...

    Angel: You love it.

Darla: Completely. I love it completely. I-I-I don't think I've ever loved anything as much as this life that's inside of me.

Angel: Well - you've never loved anything, Darla.

Darla: That's true. Four hundred years and I never did - till now. - I don't know what to do.

Angel: Well, you-you'll do the only thing that you can do. - You'll have it. You'll have it and then...

    Darla: What? We'll raise it?

    Angel: Why not?

    Darla: It's impossible.

Angel: This whole thing is impossible, Darla, but it's happening.

Darla: What do I have to offer a child, a human child, besides ugly death?

    Angel: Darla.

    Darla: You know it's true.

Angel: No. What I do know is that you love this baby, our baby. You've bonded with it. You've spent nine months carrying it, nourishing it...

Darla: No. No, I haven't been nourishing it. I haven't given this baby a thing. I'm dead. It's been nourishing me. These feelings that I'm having, they're not mine. They're coming from it.

    Angel: You don't know that.

Darla: Of course I do! We both do. Angel, I don't have a soul. It does. And right now that soul is inside of me, but soon, it won't be and then...

    Angel: Darla...

Darla: I won't be able to love it. I won't even be able to remember that I loved it. I want to remember.

Darla: You won't let me hurt it, will you? You'll protect it, right? From me, I mean.

    Angel: Yeah.

Man: Yes. I believe I do. I have to say, whoever you had working on this before was very close. These notes were enormously helpful.

Lilah: That's great. What does it say?

Man: I can see he ran into trouble right here with the tense. Ga-shundi tenses are tricky little buggers!

Lilah: I'm riveted. The birth! What does it say about the birth?

Man: Well, actually, it's funny... it doesn't.

Lilah: What do you mean, it doesn't. But you said it did.

Man: Yes, I did say it did.

    Lilah: But it doesn't.

    Man: In a way.

    Lilah: I have a gun.

Man: The prophecy, it's not so much a birth announcement as it is an obituary.

    Lilah: Obituary?

Man: Yes. The prophet is telling us there will be no birth.

    Lilah: But are you sure?

Man: Oh, quite sure! 'For surely in that time, when the sky opens and the heavens weep, there will be no birth, only death.'

    Lilah: Only death?

    Man: Just death.

    Lilah: Just death.

Fred: You gave us quite a scare. - But - I guess you're used to that, what with being a scary thing and all.

Darla: Yeah. I'm sorry about that. I don't know what got into me.

    Angel: What? What is it?

Wesley: Angel, I think you need to prepare yourself for the worst.

    Angel: No.

Wesley: The babies heartbeat is faint. Very faint.

    Angel: What do we do?

Wesley: I'm not sure there is anything we can do. Darla's body - it's not a life-giving vessel. I don't know that it's equipped to do what it needs to do in order to bring a baby to term.

Angel: So-so, what-what are you saying? We just let it die?

Cordelia: Ah, what about a c-section?

Fred: Normally that's exactly what we'd do in this instance, but... the mystical forces that's been protecting the pregnancy...

Angel: ...is gonna end up killing it.

    Wesley: That's my fear.

Angel: This doesn't make any sense. I mean, this whole thing has been a miracle, right? You don't just get half a miracle, do you? - I mean, the powers - they brought her this far, they protected the baby all this time...

Gunn: We don't know that. We don't know that it's the powers that's been protecting it. Angel, I'm sorry, but what if what Darla's carrying is the thing in the prophecies? That scourge of mankind that's supposed to plunge the world into ultimate darkness? - What if - what if what's happening to Darla now, what if that's the powers? Finally stepping up to the plate and doing something for once!

Angel: How? By killing my kid?

Angel: Hi. How 're you doing?

    Darla: He finally stopped kicking.

Angel: Did he. I guess he figured he finally got your attention. - You called him a 'he.' I think that's the first time you've ever done that.

    Darla: He's dying. Isn't he?

    Angel: No.

Darla: You lied much better when you didn't have a soul. - I can feel the life slipping away from me.

Angel: Then don't let it. You have to fight for this. - Please.

Darla: I don't know how. My boy. My darling boy. - I told you I had nothing to offer this kid. Some mother can't even offer it life.

Darla: No. No. Go on. I can't. It doesn't matter anyway.

Angel: I'm not leaving you, alright? Easy. Alright. Go get my car. It's out front. I got you. Go! Fred, go with them.

Fred: It's okay. They'll come back for us.

    Angel: You're gonna be okay.

Darla: No. No, I don't think so. Once he's gone, I won't be okay. I won't be okay at all. - I don't know what I'll be. - Angel... Our baby is gonna die right here in this alley. - You died in an alley, remember?

    Angel: I remember.

Darla: I wanna say I'm sorry. I wanna say it and mean it, but - I can't. - Aren't you gonna tell me it's okay?

    Angel: No.

Darla: No? It's really not, is it? We did so many terrible things together. So much destruction, so much - pain. - We can't make up for any of it. You know that, don't you.

    Angel: Yeah.

Darla: This child - Angel, it's the one good thing we ever did together. The only good thing. You make sure to tell him that.

Sahjhan: Do it! Now's your chance. Do it! Finish it while you still can! You can't just let him walk away! Not now! Not after what you swore to me!

Holtz: I swore that I would show no mercy. And I won't.

This eppy was such a wonderful and sad eppy from start to finish.

You had to know it would end with a baby, Angel was right when he said something about getting this far to have his son die..

Such a fitting end for Darla.. But in the angel world one is never really dead are they.

It was nice to see Darla know what it was to love the baby and sad for her to know that after the baby was born she would not be able to or even be able to remember.

I cried like a two year old when they were in the ally and Angel was holding Darla's hand and she told him the baby was the best and only thing they ever did right. And to make sure he told him that. I was telling the t.v. 'tell her you will'.

Angel will make a good father. Too bad in the world or Angel things never turn out the way you want them too..
