At the beginning of the episode, a troubled couple comes in telling a story about their son: a truck came and hit their son hard...and he isn't dead.
To Wesley's confusion, Angel refuses to take on the case, because the boy in question is Connor, Angel's son with no memory of Angel. Connor, who now lives a normal life...except of this little glitch. Connor, who now is in college at Stanford.
Turned away, Connor and his parents go home in their car, until they are attacked by demons. Angel comes to their rescue, and says that he and Connor need to talk. Angel also learns that the Senior Partners are not behind this.
Angel and Connor go back to Wolfram & Hart, where Connor meets some of Angels collegues. Wesley learns who the demons that attacked Connor are working for, and Angel goes and pays him a visit.
Angel, however, is blackmailed when Cyvus Vail, the demon in charge, turns out to be the person that changed everyone's memories when Connor was sent to be a normal teenager. Vail says that he will only not smash the little box that holds everyone's old memories if Connor kills Sahjahn, because there is a prophecy that says this is supposed to happen.
Wesley is shocked that Angel is even considering this, let alone believing that Angel is actually going to go through with this. Of course, Wesley doesn't know that Connor is Angel's son and that if Connor doesn't defeat Sahjahn, Vail will break the box that contains everyone's memories.
With this in mind, Connor and Angel go to Vail's home so Connor can defeat Sahjah.
Meanwhile, Wesley and Lorne discover that a payment was made from Wolfram & Hart to Vail the day they moved in. Wesley does his own investigation and realizes that Angel changed reality. Wesley also goes to Vail's home.
While Connor is fighting (and losing very badly), Wesley confronts Angel, demanding to know if Fred was the price that Angel paid. Angel said that it wasn't, and that Wesley had to give him the box of memories that Wesley had somehow gotten from Vail, and Wesley didn't fully know what it was; he didn't know that it was a memory box. Wesely doesn't believe Angel, and Angel says that Wesley has to trust him. Wesley doesn't believe Angel and smashes the memory box.
Wesley's memories are returned to him, as are Connor's. It is unknown if anyone else got their memories back, because Vail had said that only the people around would get their memories back. But how far is "around"?
Getting his fighting knowledge back, Connor proptly defeats Sahjahn. He, however, didn't go back to the old, grouchy Connor. He still seems his old self. In fact, he gives no indication that he has gotten his memory back except for two things: 1) That he defeated Sahjahn and had that "look" in his eye, and 2) that at the very end of the episode he said, "You have to do what you can to protect your family. My father taught me that."
Connor still wants to go back to his normal life, and protect what he still views as his parents. Angel is a little disappointed, but decides that this is best. Connor leaves.
