Episode Recap

Angel, Lorne, and Wesley are standing in place in Caritas calling Cordelia's name and looking for her.

Lying on the ground, Cordelia opens her eyes. Animal skins are hanging from the trees.

Back at Caritas, they start walking around the club calling for Cordelia and searching for her. Wesley realizes that Cordelia has been sucked into Lorne's dimension through the portal but Angel refuses to accept that and keeps looking for her. Wesley finally manages to convince him and Angel asks Lorne where she is.

Getting up, Cordelia dusts herself off and calls out for Angel, then Wesley, and then "Mr. Green Mojo Guy's Cousin." She shouts help as loudly as she can but stops suddenly and covers her mouth with her hand. She chastises herself for screaming so loudly and looks around while standing in place. She tries closing her eyes and clicking her heels 3 times, but that doesn't take her home. She assesses the situation and points out the positive aspects of the place aloud. Suddenly, a beast jumps onto a bolder from behind a tree and growls at her. She backs away talking soothingly to the beast and then turns and runs as it chases her through the woods.

Lorne says he doesn't know where she is and begins to stammer and gulps a mixed drink. Angel rejects Wesley's idea of approaching the situation logically picks and up the book. As Lorne crouches behind the bar, Angel opens the book and starts reading from it trying to make the portal open again. It doesn't and he wonders if it's "out of batteries." Wesley suggests they return to the hotel and try to figure out how to open another portal. Lorne tells them that they don't want to go to his world "looking like a human."

The beast tackles Cordelia, knocks her to the ground, sits on her, and licks her face. She is grateful and disgusted at the same time. A demon man comes up and calls the beast rewarding it for finding him a cow. Cordelia voices her discontent at being referred to as a cow and the demon man lassos her arms with a leather thong. She continues talking and he gags her.

At the Hyperion, Angel orders Lorne to "start talking" and Lorne gives Angel a condensed version of how he was there, is now here, and has no desire to return. He gets up to leave and go clean up Caritas, but Angel commands him to sit and does so reluctantly. Angel questions him further and gets more details. He admits that he came to Los Angeles via a portal but he didn't open it. He talks about how he hates Pylea and is glad to be in Los Angeles. He tells Angel that Cordelia is in a "very bad place." Wesley mentions that the hot spots in Caritas and the library have been depleted of their psychic energy and that's why the portal wouldn't open again. Lorne suggests that they wait until the spots have recharged, but Angel refuses. Wesley tells them that locating a hot spot isn't the only issue. If they simply jump into the portal, they might not end up together. They realize that Cordelia is probably alone in Pylea and are more concerned. Gunn enters and tells them he's not going to Pylea with them because he lost one of his crew the night before and should've been there. He wishes them luck, tells Angel to "please find her," and leaves. Lorne tells them he's not going either despite Angel's protests. He leaves to find them another hot spot.

Cordelia is being carried through town by two demon men with her hands and feet bound to a wooden pole and the gag still tied around her mouth. They prop the pole horizontally between two wooden beams. The demon man who captured Cordelia is making a pitch to an old demon woman trying to sell her. They dicker over the price and finally reach an agreement. Vakma gives the old demon man a metal collar; he puts it around Cordelia's neck, and cuts her down from the pole. He tries to remove the gag but she shakes him off and removes it herself. She complains to them that she's a human being, not a cow and expresses her outrage at being considered no more valuable than one pig. She continues to talk and Vakma holds up a metal device and presses a red button. The collar gives Cordelia a shock and Vakma tells her that "cows aren't for talking. They're for doing their jobs." Cordelia stares at her incredulously and Vakma tells Cordelia to follow her. Cordelia refuses and Vakma shocks her again. She refuses to follow yet again and receives another shock. This time, she follows Vakma. Hiding in the shadows, Fred watches them leave.

Gunn is sitting in his truck with the engine running and stakes in the stake holders on the hood.

Lorne pays a visit to his psychic friend, Aggie and asks her if she can find a psychic hot spot for him. She agrees to do it on the condition that he goes to Pylea with his friends.

At the hotel, Angel and Wesley discuss how to get through the portal without getting separated. Looking at a book, Wesley says: "That's the third reference I've seen to iron or metal." They're interrupted by two lawyers from Wolfram and Hart. Gavin Park introduces himself and his associate, Mr. Hays, but Angel cuts him off before he can finishing telling him that they represent Wolfram and Hart. He tells Angel they are there to appraise the building since Wolfram and Hart is interested in purchasing it when the lease expires in 6 months. He wants to look around, but Angel morphs into a vampire and refuses. Gavin threatens Angel that they will find some loopholes in his lease agreement to exploit and inform his real estate agent of his noncompliance and he and his associate leave. A frustrated Angel asks Wesley: "How quick can we get out of this world?"

Cordelia is shoveling manure in a stable and whining to herself about wanting to go home. Suddenly, she receives a shock from the collar. She starts to try and remove the collar but a voice from the other side of the stable wall tells her not to do that. Cordelia approaches the wall and peers at Fred through a knot hole as Fred tells her that her head will implode if she tries to remove the collar. Fred tells her to keep shoveling as they talk. Cordelia tells Fred she's from Los Angeles and asks her how long she's been here. Fred says she was born here and corrects herself saying it only feels like that sometimes. She asks Fred where here is and Fred tells her it's Pylea. Cordelia asks how to leave and Fred laughs as she tells her she can't. Cordelia tells Fred her friends will come rescue her and they talk more. Fred realizes that she's been caught when Constable Narwek and his men come running up to the barn and yell: "Fugitive!" The men grab Fred and Cordelia comes to the other side of the stable to see what's happening. She's pushed to the ground and kept there. Narwek discovers that Fred's collar has been disabled and she is carried away as Cordelia yells after them to wait.

Angel is leaving a telephone message with details about the hotel mortgage and lease. Just as he finishes, Lorne walks into the office and asks him how he's doing. He tells Lorne he's waiting for "Wes to have that Eureka moment." Wesley yells "Eureka!" and Angel is relieved. Lorne looks in the direction of the shout and asks: "You mean he actually really says Eureka?" Wesley races into the office and tells them he knows how to keep them from getting separated going through the portal and they leave.

Cordelia tries to ask Vakma what happened to Fred while they are at the market in the town square and Vakma tells her she talks too much without answering her question. Suddenly, she starts swaying and is hit by a vision. She falls to the ground dropping everything she's carrying. She starts telling them what she's seeing and a crowd gathers round staring at her. Vakma yells out that she's cursed.

Angel, Lorne, and Wesley pull up in front of a movie studio in Angel's car and stop. Wesley reveals that he's 96% sure that the car will get them through the portal ok and a concerned Angel starts to argue with him about it. Gunn interrupts them as he jumps in the back seat next to Lorne. Wesley is surprised and Gunn tells him he got a phone message that sounded like the "like the captain of the Titanic getting ready to go down with the ship," so he decided to come along. Wesley looks at Angel and he tells Wesley that he "thought that someone on this side should know the details just in case." Lorne starts to get out of the car to be that someone since Gunn is going, but they push him back down into the seat as they tell him to "shut up." Wesley reads aloud from the book and the portal opens with a blinding flash of light. The car speeds through the portal and the smoking book drops to the street after the portal closes.

The car barrels through the portal and all 4 of them are yelling. The car bounds to the ground in Pylea. In a panic Angel asks for a blanket because the sun is shining and they all scramble to get one but he realizes he's not bursting into flames as Wesley hands it to him. Wesley says that the sun is different since they're in a different dimension and Lorne says: "Back up Copernicus. That's suns. Plural." Everyone except Lorne is excited to be in Pylea and he suggests that they hide the car as it will be conspicuous since they don't exist there. Angel trots over into a patch of sunlight to gather some branches.

Cordelia's hands and feet are bound and she's lying face down on the floor with a crowd circled round watching her. Narwek enters and verifies that her vision was accurate and she fearfully begins to defend herself. Silas enters and says they need to test her to determine if she is really cursed with the sight. Two other priests carry a table into the room that is filled with sharp and pointy implements. Silas picks up a pointed metal rod and reaches for her as she pleads with him saying: "No, no, no."

They cover the car and as they're walking away Wesley says: "Don't forget the book." They argue about who had the book and Wesley decides that it might not exist in Pylea. Angel says they'll find a way to get back but they need to find Cordelia first. They walk off heading for town.

Cordelia is lying on the floor with an expression of exhaustion on her face as Silas announces that she has the curse of the sight. Two priests pick her up by the arms and drag her out of the room followed by two guards.

Lorne reminds them to stay out of sight because "Xenophobia is kind of a watch word where I'm from." and Gunn says: "I don't get it? Why are they afraid of Xena? I mean, I think she's kinda' fly." Wesley explains that Lorne means Xenophobia, the fear of foreigners and Gunn says: "Oh, then can we pretend I didn't just say that?" They stop across from a house and Lorne tells them it's where a childhood friend named Blix lives. He tells them to stay low and he'll go talk to Blix. He crosses the road, knocks on the door, and walks in the house. Moments later, he comes running from the house with an axe wielding Blix in hot pursuit yelling: "Traitor! Deserter! Traitor!" They run to the center of town as several villagers led by Blix pursue them.

When they reach the center of town, they are surrounded and decide to fight. Wesley says he thinks they are winning.

They're tied up and on their knees. Constable Narwek approaches and acknowledges Lorne. Lorne defends his friends when Narwek refers to them as cow scum. Narwek orders Lorne taken away for interrogation and his men carry Lorne away. Angel protests as they take Lorne and Narwek kicks him for speaking. Narwek motions and 3 men come over and bring them to their feet. Narwek declares that they will be detained in the dungeon until the Royal Highness is prepared to sentence them for their crimes. Gunn makes a snide remark and stands his ground as Narwek turns to him. Narwek punches him in the stomach and he doubles over. He stands up and speaks again. Narwek punches him in the face and Wesley tells Gunn to stop. Narwek orders his men to "put these things away" and the men remove them.

Silas says that Cordelia's cursed with the sight so "measures must be taken and blood must be spilled."

In the dungeon, Gunn makes a futile attempt to break the chain between shackles on his wrists. Angel, Gunn, and Wesley all have shackles on their wrists and ankles. They've searched the dungeon for a way out, but couldn't find one. Gunn and Wesley are talking and Angel tells them to be quiet as he listens at the door. They shuffle over to the door but are unable to hear anything. Angel hears men talking about a girl with visions and that they tested her for the sight and she screamed. Then he hears them say it's almost time to take them to the castle for sentencing. He tells Gunn and Wesley the guards are coming and they all shuffle away from the door. The guard opens the cell door and orders them out.

Guards usher them around a corner and into a corridor outside of a set of large double doors. A heavily guarded Lorne is there also in shackles. He's glad to see them and Lorne tells them they locked him in a room and questioned him. Angel starts telling Lorne what he heard the men saying about Cordelia and Narwek comes from behind them and tells them to be silent. Narwek lists Lorne's numerous offenses and says it will please him to watch Lorne be killed. Narwek calls them forward and the guards push them toward the door. He announces that "the venerable monarch of Pylea, general of the ravenous legions, eater of our enemy's flesh, prelate of the sacrificial blood rites, and sovereign proconsul of death is prepared to pass sentence upon you." When he's completed his speech, he tells the guards to open the doors. As they are ushered into the throne room, they attack the guards. A woman clears her throat which stops the clamoring. They look up and shock crosses their faces as Cordelia sitting on the throne says: "Hi guys."
