    • Lorne: Remember when I said, uh, I love this dimension and I'm never, never, never gonna leave? Well, e-exactly which 'never' did you not understand?
    • (Angel, Wesley, Gunn & Lorne surrounded by Pyleans) Wesley: We've been through a lot together fellas, fought a lot of battles, faced some pretty steep odds. Gunn: I'll take the 20 on the left, you take the 50 on the right. Angel: Okay.
    • Wesley: I suppose I could try a binding spell of some kind, something that would fuse us together as we enter the portal. Angel: Good, let's do that. Wesley: However we could emerge on the other side as a freakishly hybridized Siamese twin. Angel: Keep looking.
    • (Gunn tries to break handcuffs) Gunn: It's no use. Thing's made out of some kind of magical alloy. Wesley: Really? How can you tell? Gunn: I can't. I'm just making myself feel better.
    • Angel: I don't want to calm down, I want to jump through the big swirly hole thingy and rescue Cordy! Wesley: Well there won't be any big swirly hole jumping without the big swirly hole jumping book!
    • Angel: Lawyers. Don't you people sleep during the day?
    • Aggie:(talking on the phone) It's like you feel cut off. (hangs up the phone)
    • Gunn: I got a call - it sounded like the captain of the Titanic getting ready to go down with the ship.
    • Lorne: You know, ordinarily I handle bad news really well. I just drown my sorrows in an iced cold gin and tonic little squeeze of lime, except they don't have them here!
    • Cordy: I want to go home. I want to be in my bed. I want to order some Thai food. I want to read the latest issue of Marie Claire. I want to be doing anything but shoveling demon horse poo!
    • Angel: Let's start gathering some branches, some brush, anything that will cover up the car. Oh hey look, there's some over in that patch of sun... I'll get them!
    • Lorne: Just remember, keep your head down. Xenophobia, kind of a watchword where I'm from. Gunn: I don't get it. Why are they afraid of Xena? I mean, I think she's kinda fly. Wesley: Xenophobia - fear of foreigners. Gunn: Oh, then can we pretend I didn't just say that?
    • Angel: Ha, I'm not on fire. Wesley: And, we're together. We didn't merge into a freakish four-man Siamese twin. Gunn: That was a risk? How come nobody told me that was a risk? Angel: Can everybody just notice how much fire I'm not on?
    • Lorne: How you holding up? Angel: I wanna go, bad. I'm just waitin' for Wes to have that Eureka moment. Wesley: Eureka! Angel: Oh geesh, thank God! Lorne: You mean he actually really says Eureka?!
    • Lorne: I think we're only a couple of miles from town but, we'll have to walk it. Angel: No problem here, walkin' in the sun. Hey, do it all the time. Wesley: Yes, we're all heartily aware that you're not on fire.
    • Angel: Start talkin'. Lorne: About my dimension? Sure. Let's see... I was there, I came here, I like here, I don't wanna go there.

    • The hell-beast Cordy encounters closely resembles the hell-hounds from the Buffy episode "The Prom"
    • The Paramount gate is used primarily because Angel, a 20th Century Fox property airing on the WB, is produced at Paramount studios. The studio grounds and neighboring area are often used, including the nearby Los Altos apartments which doubles as the Hyperion.
    • Persia White (Aggie) also played Aura the girl "who found the extreme dead guy in her locker" in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' (1x01) also Cordelia and Aura were talking on the phone in 'Rm W/a Vu' (1x05).
  • Allusions

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Cordelia: I want to read the latest issue of Marie Claire.

Marie Claire is a monthly women's magazine that covers health, beauty, and fashion topics.

    • Lorne: Ah, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, all right. This is a reference to the educational children's program Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" is part of the theme song.
    • Gunn: I don't get it. Why are they afraid of Xena? "Xena: Warrior Princess" ('95 - '01) is a television show where the warrior fights evil to redeem herself in the eyes of the world, and to herself for her past deeds.
    • Cordelia: (Taps her heels three times) This is a reference to The Wizard of Oz, which was a book by L. Frank Baum about a Kansas girl who travels to a crazy world called "Oz." It was made into a movie in 1939 staring Judy Garland as the lead character, Dorothy. In both versions, Dorothy is told by Glinda, the good witch of the North, to click her heels together three times to go home. The most famous song from the film version is "Over the Rainbow" (hence the title of this episode). The popularity the Oz story has spawned many spin-offs and retellings; most recently, the hit Broadway musical Wicked.
