    SALVAGE

    The Good;
Chant it with me boys and girls, FAITH-FAITH-FAITH-FAITH! My favourite episode of Angel is Orpheus, my favourite moment is at the end of 5X5 where Wes drops the knife in the alley but my favourite scene is where Wes has his conversation with the imaginary Lilah here, it's just stunning.

    The Bad;
If you think there's anything wrong in this episode then I suggest you go to the doctor for some anti-crazy pills! Ok so the demon who wants Angelus to sign something for his spawn is woefully badly done.

    Best line:
Faith; "Just like riding a biker" (oh she is SUCH a naughty girl!)

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Connor; "I don't give a flying schluck!" (I had to rewind this to check this line). Awful watching Faith getting a terrible kicking from the Beast. But your heart just bleeds for Wesley having to decapitate Lilah's corpse, couldn't he have let Connor or Gunn do it?

    Kinky dinky:
Faith actually tells Wes he looks good. Gunn and Connor also like Faith, she comments it's a shame when Gunn says 'I hold my own'. Faith tells Angelus to 'Give us a kiss' just as she did to Buffy in Graduation Day Pt1. Faith is also described as 'smokin hot'. Angelus says that he knew Faith would enjoy a threesome and suggests he, she and the Beast 'get it on'. Interestingly she says 'Sure!'. Connor has a weakness for Slayers just like his old man. Angelus seems disappointed that he's facing Faith and not Buffy.

    Captain Subtext;
Personally I think Faith-in-prison would be a good series in itself.

    What the fanficcers thought;
Faith being released from prison to help out either the Sunnydale scoobies or Angel Investigations is such a popular theme in fanfic it borders on the cliche.

    Questions and observations;
Everyone else notice that the knife the assasin tries to use to kill Faith is the same as those used by The Bringers in Buffy? Can anyone else explain to me what Jasmine's plan is and how Angelus and The Beast fit into it? Can't Angelus read CC's scent at the warehouse or has she disguised it? Lilah talks of redemption, even after death is it too late for her? Of course Faith never met the real Angelus and Wes only met him for a little while under the effects of the drug in 'Eternity'. The term 'The Skinny' is used about Fred, I wonder if it was deliberate? Angelus calls Dawn, to judge from their conversation she and Angel get on well. Faith says that girls are always the Slayer because they're 'better'. We have the 'what do you do?' speech from Speed which was HUGE at the time. Faith's ingenuity of breaking the window with the chains to let in the sunlight is awesome. But you just know she'd have figured out some way to defeat Angelus, she's our girl.

Marks out of 10; 10/10 and the good just keeps coming!
  • Faith = awesome.

Salvage is a brilliant episode that has Wesley cutting off Lilah's head as he thinks about their relationship, the death of The Beast and of course the return of ever amazing Faith!

I'm so glad they brought Faith in! I just love her and every episode she's in is usually automatically awesome. She adds such a presence on the show and steals every scene she's in- such a rich character! I loved her ever since her Buffy days and I think she's the main reason Buffy S3 is so brilliant. Eliza Dushku is incredible as her and smoking hot I may add.

I enjoyed the prison scenes and the bit where the inmate attacks Faith is a nice parallel to BtVS. In Buffy, potential slayers and Buffy herself are being targeted by The First to erase the Slayer line and I was glad they didn't ignore Faith- as a Slayer, she's a target. I enjoyed her escape scene as well, even if it was slightly unrealistic- I can buy Faith falling from a three story window onto a car and not getting injured but Wesley? He's just a regular human and wasn't even winded! I can forgive though as his line afterwards is so great. Also, Faith putting Connor in his place was much appreciated- I'm sick of that little creep by now and he really needs someone to smack him about a bit and Faith is perfect. Also, Connor getting turned on by Faith bossing hima about was a bit... ehm weird. What is this kid's fascinations with older, much more attractive women than him? OK that's easy.

The death of The Beast was great and Angelus finally did something good. It was the right stage to get rid of The Beast- Cordevila has to start taking some losses. The Faith/Beast fight scene was brutal and I was worried for Faith for a minute- it would suck if she died. Another reason I'm glad the Beast is gone is that we don't have to watch him and Cordy kiss again- that's just gross.

Even grosser however was the final scene. Connordelia is just a sick relationship and watching it is just disgusting. Thankfully it isn't really Cordy but still. Also glad she revealed she's pregnant as it was getting to the stage where it was visibly obvious. Why don't the gang notice however. It's not exactly hard to spot. Silly gang. The music at the end was haunting and really good- storylines are better with little melodies accompanying them (Darla arc anyone?) and this music was fitting.

Salvage was an excellent episode that shouldn't be missed purely cuz of Faith. She's awesome!

Salvage was a perfect episode of Angel because it had a really great story and the characters were all at their best. Faith the Vampire Slayer breaks out of prison to help track and capture Angelus, but gets a good beating from the Beast because of Angelus. I was shocked to find out Cordelia's secrets and they are very surprising but perfect. This episode is a classic example of the great creative, writing, directing, and acting skills of those involved with the series. This episode moves the season's major story line forward and the steps are now laid for whats to come. I can't wait to watch the next episode!!!!!!!
  • Faith is broken out of prison to save Angel.

    "Superb"
So the episode picks up where it ended. Angelus has found Lilah's body and he's not one pass up free blood…especially if it's evil blood. The gang walk in on him… oh, poor Wesley. Gunn, of course, attacks with out thinking and misses Angelus with his axe, of course. Poor Lilah. I guess it was her time to go. But at the hands of Cordevil? I would have thought that some great higher power would do her in… oh, wait. Fred removes the arrow from Cordy's thigh while Cordelia says "It's started". Couldn't Fred hear her? A wound couldn't be that distracting. The gang stands around looking at Lilah's beautiful lifeless corpse and they all start to blame each other. Wesley blames Connor, Gunn blames Lorne, and Cordy blames herself… but just to throw the others off. Back to Angelus. He walks into the bar of horrible acting. Seriously all of these extras… Anyway. What does he want? To find the beast, 'cause who wouldn't? But he get's distracted by the sweet sweet evil smell of Lilah's blood. Ah, Weslah. I really like this scene. Wesley starts to reflect on his "relationship" with Lilah. Devilishly handsome? I guess we know that Wesley didn't have any self-esteem issues. He really did love her. Too bad we'll never find out if she loved him.

Back at the Hyperion the gang put up the sanctuary spell while Connor sulks around getting on my nerves. Hee! Flying slop. Is that what constitutes as a swear word on Quar'toth? I guess Lilah convinced Wesley that Angel is needed because Wesley now wants to save Angel. And who does he have in mind to help him out, none other than Faith. The prison yard. Women playin' ball, dealing drugs, and Faith doing pull-ups. Awesome. The bringer's (or was it Caleb's) hired hit-woman approaches Faith but Faith has been honing her skills 'cause she's able to counter-attack very quickly. I'm a big fan of the slo-mo action shots so this fight scene I find really cool. Another thing I find really cool is the way Faith picks up the 145lbs barbell without a sweat. Hee! Nose job. Although with a hit like that Deb should be in need for some cranial reconstruction not just the nose. Back to Angelus who starts to bully the Beast… hey, buddy pick on someone your own size... oh yeah and "More Faith!" Angelus really pisses him off and manages to escape a brawl with him unharmed. Heh. I guess Angelus is smarter than Angel. Cordevil reprimands the Beast and then makes-out with him. Eeew! Back to Faith, yay! Wesley finally swallows his pride and goes to see Faith. What is up with Eliza Dushku's voice? She sounds even sexier! Wesley: We need you. Faith: Well, uh, I hate to wet the paper for you, Wes, but I'm kinda unavailable right now. Maybe you want to check back in a few decades when my parole comes up. Wesley: You need to know- Faith: It's Armageddon again. I dig. The last thing you need's me in the mix. Besides, Angel'll come shining through in the end like he always does. Wesley: Angel's gone, Faith. Angelus is back. Faith: Step away from the glass. She said "Step away from the glass" not "Get up quickly, throw your chair and cause a commotion", Wesley! Giles and Faith fly out the window and then land on a car… oh wait it's not Giles it's actually Wesley. Wesley fills in Faith on all the happenings and wants to see if Faith is up to it. Apparently so 'cause she handles the vamps well, unlike Wesley who lets one of them escape to tell the whole world that there's a Slayer in town. Stupid. He manages to redeem some points with me by introducing Faith: Wesley: Everyone, this is Faith, the vampire slayer. Suck it, Buffy! Sorry. Everyone is happy to see her 'cept for Cordevil, shocker. Faith doesn't get into any petty arguments with her instead she just lays it down. Faith: Gunn, right? Gunn: Yeah. Faith: Love the name. I hear you're a good fighter. Gunn: I hold my own. Faith: That's a shame. Connor is not too pleased that this is a salvage mission but Faith manages to shut him right the hell up. Awesome. Angelus finds out the Slayer's in town so he calls Buffy. It would have been nice to see the other end of this on BtVS. I guess Buffy was too busy with Spike. Dawn: Oh Buffy, Angel called. Buffy: Uh, who? Dawn: Angel? You know the love of your life tall, dark, and broody. Buffy: Stalk much? Doesn't he know I'm with Spike now? What did he want? Dawn: Nothing he just hung up. Buffy: Oh that's a relief. I so didn't want to go to L.A. and help him out… Spike doesn't really like him. Heh.

Back to Faith, yay! Connor and Faith share a dialogue: Connor: So, vampire slayers. I was told about them. How come you're always girls? Faith: I dunno. Better at it, I guess. Connor: You haven't seen what I can do. Faith: Let's not. For those of you keeping score that's Faith: 2, Connor: 0. Hee! They're hot on Angelus' trail but Connor is "deficient" so he gets sent back home. It's only Faith and Wesley now but Angelus is now expecting them 'cause of Wesley. Stupid Wesley! Wesley gets smacked right in the face, which startled me and made me laugh a bit.

Ahh, the showdown. But wait Angelus is not alone he's got the big honkin' Beast along with him. And is Faith afraid? Hell naw! She comes out swinging which probably isn't that smart 'cause it gets her beaten up real bad. Gotta love the slo-mo shots but it's kinda too painful to watch them. You're kinda hoping for something to come and stop this. Thankfully Angelus interjects and is able to kill the Beast. See, Angelus is smarter than Angel… and yay, the sun is back as well. Hee! Retarded fantasy. Now it's Faith and Angelus. With the way Faith is looking you know things aren't gonna last. But wait Faith's got a weapon. It's some slow moving chains what is that gonna do to him… oh wait, Awesome. Good thinking there Faith. Back at the Hyperion the gang's admiring Faith's work and the Sun. Did you see Gunn's reaction when Fred said that "[She's] never seen anything so beautiful in all my life."? Priceless. Condelia. Eew. She's having his baby. Does Connor even know what that means? I mean did Holtz have the birds and the bees conversation with him in Quor'toth? That creepy lullaby music at the end was really cool.

Salvage-After Angelus apparently kills Lilah, Wesley realizes that they will need help finding and stopping him. After he makes sure that Lilah will not rise as a vampire, the former Watcher goes in search of a powerful ally.

Well at this point we, have a muderous vampire on the lose and Evil Cordy has finally showed her true colors, the gang pretty much need help, thus beginning my favorite part of this season, the Faith trilogy! Like I said before, Faith is essential when it comes to some of the best episodes of Buffy and Angel, this episode and the next 2 are some of the best episodes of the series. Eliza Dusku pops back on the scene as our fearsome slayer and pretty much owns every scene, every line, what's not to like about this episode? She puts Connor's a$$ in check, even beats him up a little. Which he deserves after his little out bursts of annoyance the past couple of episodes. I think he even liked it, lol. Also, I love how Faith and Gunn immediately hit it off. Then there's the jail fight scene, Faith breaking out of jail with Wesley, and Wesley testing Faith's fighting skills. Definately the best part of these episodes are Wesley and Faith's interaction. Both characters have a lot of history and it's amazing how much they relate to each other now. The fight scenes continue to be one of the many impressive highlights of this season when Faith fights the Beast in the warehouse. Although, she gets her a$$ handed to her, the choreography and the wire work was amazing to watch. Daivd also continues to impress as Angelus and him killing the Beast was an unexpected twist, brought the sun back, which is nice since the endless night pretty much ran it's course. The episode ends with another big twist as Evil Cordy is now pregnant with Connor's child! While this revelation is disgusting, it's apart of the grand design of the arc of this season. All and All, a incredible episode that brings our bad girl slayer back in the fight with great scenes, explosive action and memorable moments.
  • Angelus is back to his deliciously evil ways, Lilah loses her head, Cordelia has a very big secret and we all have a little Faith.

    9.5
    "Superb"
First off, evil Cordy leaving Lilah's body where Angelus would find it, and then everyone thinking he had killer her was great. What's up with Cordelia? I can hardly wait to find out what this is all leading to! Wesley's conversations with the dead Lilah were fantastic. He wanted to believe that he never cared for her, but once she was dead he really wasn't sure. I find it difficult to believe he really loved her, but I think that even though he needs to believe he is hard and unfeeling, he still has enough of the kind old Wesley in him that he doesn't like the idea tha he was only using Lilah. He definitely had some sort of affection for her.

I enjoyed the scene with Angelus and the Beast fighting, and Angelus leaving without agreeing to work for the Beast's master. I didn't much care for Cordelia showing up and kissing the Beast...it seemed out of character, even for "evil Cordy."

I loved Wesley deciding to get Faith to help capture Angelus. Obviously he could not call in Buffy, because she would not be able to do it, always seeing Angel, even though she did send him to the Hell dimension back in S2 of Buffy. Wesley having to put aside his intense hatred of Faith, but still needing to rely on har was a much more interesting storyline to me. It was a bit surprising that Faith could walk into the hotel and just take charge the way she did. Up until now she was very much a loner, not really working in a team, so seeing her in a leadership position seemed a bit out of place. It will however be of use as she goes back to Sunnydale later on to help Buffy battle the First Evil.

Absolutely great fight scene between Faith and the Beast. Normally I am not a big fan of fight scenes, but the way Faith kept fighting even though the Beast was pounding her into the floor was great. She really put her heart into it! The fact that Angelus actually killed the Beast was also a nice touch. The effects used in the Beast's death were really good, as was the fact that it turned out to be daylight, which Faith was able to use against Angelus when she broke the window and nearly fried him. Great line when the sun comes back out and Angelus says "That was Angel's retarded fantasy."

Cordelia telling Connor that she was having his child was a bit of a shocker, and so strange, considering how a few episodes ago she was so adamant that they could have no relationship. I'm looking forward to finding out the truth behind the baby. I can't believe it really is Connor's.

Overall, a fantastic episode with lots of action and plenty of evil Angelus action, plus enough questions to force me to watch the next episode right away!
  • Faith returns

    "Good"
Clearly in need of some help to bring down Angelus, in what ever form they can bring him down, Wesley seeks out Faith to perform the task. Well technicly he goes and gets her to break out of prison to perform the task. From minute one Connor and Faith don't really get along all that well. Though she doesn't manage to do it, yet. At the very least the beast gets taken out, thanks to Angelus of all things. Apparently he doesn't like lackies.

Meanwhile, Cordelia just keeps getting more and more disturbing. Turns out she's pregnant with Connor's hell spawn, and this time I'm not thinking whatever she's cooking in the oven is going to be a Darla-like situation.
  • Enter Faith

This ep picks up right where we left off from Calvary. Fred, Wes and Gunn get to the hotel and see Angelus sucking blood from a very dead Lilah. Shock doesnt begin to cover it as the gang rush to capture him. Angelus is quick and jumps out of the nearest window. Everyone rallies around Cordy, who we know is evil, and tends to her leg. She says cryptically "It's started" and smiles. Lorne remembers the Sanctorium spell and says he is going to work on that with some help from the Furies. Connor is none too pleased about magic being involved and everyone wonders aloud why Cordys spell to re-ensoul Angelus didnt work (ha, if they only knew!) Angelus is out on a search of his own and he is enjoying the permanant darkness. He goes to a demon bar and gets info on where to find the beast. He doesnt have much problem since the beast WANTS Angelus to find him. They have a few words and Angel takes off. The Beasts boss (Cordy) appears and scold the Beast and then (ick) kisses him. Meanwhile Wes is iin the basement with Dead Lilah and he is preparing to chop off her head but is having some trouble because dang it, she wont stop talking. Poor Wes is conflicted so much about having to do this deed. Upstairs, Lorne has cast the Sanctorium spell and it doesnt appear to have worked until Connor keeps smarting off about magic and Lorne goes to hit him and gets repelled by the spell. Wes rejoins the gang after finally decapitating Lilah and tells them that if they want to bring Angelus back alive, they need help and then he takes off. Wes shows up at prison to get Faith, who is more than willing when she finds out WHY they need her. They break out and head back to the hotel, not without Faith being tested first by a couple of vamps. Yep, she's still got it!

Everyone at the hotel is happy to see her except for Cor and Brat-boy Connor who thinks he can take Angelus out. Faith puts him in his place and makes it clear this is a salvage mission. The gang heads out, Gunn, Connor, Wes and Faith and Connor ends up dusting the first vamp he sees. Faith is not amused and she puts him in his place, physically and benches him by having Gunn take him bacl to the hotel. Soon enough Wes and Faith find Angelus, Wes gets waylaid by 2 vamps while Faith takes off for Angelus. They battle and Angel decides to introduce her to Beasty. Beasty proceeds to kick the ever loving crap outta her and then in a surprise move, Angelus kills the beast and L.A. is sunny again. Angelus moves in to kill Faith when she busts a window and the sunshine keeps him from her. Narrow escape and wow is our slayer worse for wear. Back at the hotel Cordy has some news for Connor. She is pregnant, and by the looks of her belly this isnt a normal pregnancy. She looks at least 8 months along. Connor is....surprised to say the least.
  • The return of Faith and the death of the Beast.

    5.4
    "Mediocre"
After Wesley has to kill his former love Lilah, to prevent her from turning, he recruits Faith for a SALVAGE mission to capture Angelus alive. Surprisingly, Angelus turns on the Beast, and although the endless night is over, Angelus is still free and evil Cordelia has yet to be discovered ... and already has plan B under way. The Good: Wesley turning darker. He becomes such a great character as this show goes on. A cold anti-hero who's always one step ahead of the game. Having to kill Lilah pushed him further over the edge. The Bad: God, I hate Angelus. The constant unfunny one-liners make you root for anyone and anything to kill him just to shut him up.

i think faith has always been overrated but she really was awesome during this episode. her fight between the best is one of the best of the show.

the episode is about the gang not knowing what to do now that angel is turned into angelus and lilah is dead and that was very sad for wesley who had to cut off her head.

but anyway, wesley knows what to do and helps faith come out of prison to bring angelus back but she cannot do it because she is afraid to harm him and instead gets her kicked ass face by the beast. but angelus knows is better to eliminate the beast and he kills him with a knive made of himself but cannot harm faith who is beaten up because of the sun who is back.

    very very cool episode!
  • Faith returns!

    8.8
    "Great"
Every time Eliza is on screen, the plot and acting go up. It was wickedly clever to bring Faith back to help Angelus become Angel. This is the beginning of the end for Buffy (it has been a while since the two show's plots overlapped this much).

Cordy's evil!?! I can't believe that the writers made Cordy evil. It so sad to see her play evil, while on the other hand, she's been so good for so long that it is nice to see Charisma have different levels of acting.

Lilah's death seem wasted. She would have made a great addition to the season 5 cast. (Or they could have still killed her but used her in Season 5).

    Good-bye Lilah :( I'll miss you.
  • It was really sad to see The Beast go. But it was cool to see Faith back and it was a big improvement from the last one. Lilah's goodbye scene was priceless and the Faith vs The Beast was one of the best fights.

    Salvage

The return of Faith after more than two years. Man what awesome episode with a few annoying moments but still very important. Faith comes back, The Beast gets killed by Angelus and Cordevila tells Connor that they're having a baby. What I didn't like is the way they wrote Connor but it was still pretty amazing. The fight between The Beast and Faith was priceless.

Cut to Angelus walking in the hall and finding Lilah dead 'Well, that's no fun' cut to the gang coming in and they see Angelus with Lilah and he drops her body on th ground and Wes sees Lilah dead. The cut the others and Gunn goes over them and says that Angelus killed Lilah and Cordy says it started at smiles.

    the credits start

Cut to the hotel and they don't know what to do and they have to do a spell. Lorne says to make something where demons can't fight. Connor hates magic and he says it's unreliable and they begin to give everyone a fault and Connor then says to destroy the body and Wes says he's right and he'll do it. Cut to a bar and people see Angelus and he says that he's really back. Angelus asks everyone where the Beast is and someone can show him. Cut to Wes and Lilah in the attic and he brushes her hair and she asks him why he's so glum and she says it's what he wanted deep down. It makes his life cleaner and she says he hated himself for being with her but sooner or later it would come to a messy end. She tells him he's free now. He says that she didn't love him because she couldn't. And he looks at her dead body.

Cut to Angelus and two vampires and he is showing him where the best was. Cut to the hotel and they are doing the spell. Connor is whining and he wants to kill Angelus and he says that he is the destroyer and then Cordy falls on the ground and he goes back and Connor will take her upstairs. Gunn says Connor is gonna try to keep Angelus. Cut to a prison with Faith coming out. Then she is training but someone attacks her and she fights her and knocks her out and the guards don't understand how someone could attack Faith. Cut to the attic and Lilah says she knows why it's taking so long and she says because he couldn't save her. She says that he couldn't save her from her. she says it's too late for her and then he cuts her head off. Cut to Angelus finding The Beast and Angelus teases him and wants to know the big boss. And The Beast attacks him but he doesn't touch him and Angelus flees away. Then Cordy goes to The Beast and she is mad at him. and she is the master and says she needs Angelus and then she kisses him.

Cut to the hotel and Lorne does the spell. Then Connor begins to whine and Lorne attacks him but he can't hurt him. Then comes Wes and they tell him it's working and they are going to bring him alive because it's the only way to destroy The Beast and he knows who can help. Cut to Faith coming out her jail and Wes is there and he tells her that they need her. Wes then tells her about Angel and that Angelus is back. She tells him to step away from the window. And she fights the cops and then grabs Wes and they jump off he window into a car and escape. Cut to Faith and Wes in a car and he told her about Connor and Cordy that they were in another world and Faith asks what they have been doing and then he tells her about The Beast and that he has been living a complicated life and she says he's not gonna kill him and he says he knows and that's why he needed her. He wants to find out if she is rusty and he lets her fight some vampires and one escapes and she is able to kill the other two.

Cut to the hotel and Wes and Faith come in and he introduced her to everyone and Cordy isn't happy with it. Faith says she doesn't have a reason to trust her but she says to keep it after they finish what they are going to. Faith makes a group and they are going out and Connor wants to kill Angelus and if Angelus is gonna be killed she is the one who would do it and Cordy sees he liked Faith. Cut to Angelus and a girl runs to him and he vamps and then he hears about a slayer and Angelus calls Dawn and asks about Buffy but she's home and he hangs out and he knows it's Faith. Cut to the gang walking outside and a vampire attacks them and Connor kills it. Faith is very mad and she says he thought it was Angelus and she can't use him and she tells him to go and they fight but she wins and makes him go back and Gunn goes with him.

Faith and Wes enter the place and Faith goes in and Wes goes in another way but two vampires attack him. Cut to Faith inside and he's hiding. Then Angelus appears and so does The Beast tells him to eat. Then Faith begins to fight The Beast but he's to hard and he hits her away into a box. And he hits her really hard. Cut to Wes fighting the vamps. Cut back to the Beast almost killing Faith. Angelus says someone should brake it up. The Beast goes over her and he says she's nothing. Angelus says he is right but he says himself could hurt him and grabs the knife of him and puts it in his back and then The Beast falls apart to pieces and The Sun comes back and burns up the vampires Wes was fighting. Angelus says it's crap that the sun is back and he wants her now but she brakes the window and he has to hide. And he says it's just he and her and leaves. Cut to Connor and the rest and he thinks she killed The Beast and he goes to Cordy. Cut to Cordy's room and he comes inside and she says it's wonderful and he says that Faith is amazing. Then she wants to tell him something and she shows him her belly and she says that they are having a baby and kisses him and that she and him forever.

    Best episode quotes:

Vampire #1: Hey. Hey. Isn't that...?

    Vampire #2: Yeah.

Angelus: That's right, brothers and sisters. The rumors are true. Angel has left the building, and I am back.

    Crowd: Welcome back!

Angelus: But hey, I'm no different than the next guy. I put my victims' skin on one leg at a time.

    Rosaria: Angelus! Remember me?

    Angelus: Not really.

Rosaria: Oh, come on! A little town outside Tuscany, 1845, give or take. Rosaria!

    Angelus: Rosaria. Right.

Rosaria: Yeah. Flew in with some of my friends when we heard about the permanent midnight. Hey, a bunch of us are gonna raid a pre-school later. You wanna join us? Have a little kiddie cockta- Aah!

Angelus: Everybody wants a piece of you. I'm looking for the Beast A guy over there told me you might know where he hangs his horns.

Demon: Whoa. You're him. Talking to me. Not usually impressed by vampires, but this is such a- such an honor. Hey, could ya sign a little something for my hell-spawn? Make it out to Ashley. She's a beautiful little- Oh!

Angelus: Maybe some other time. Where is the Beast?

    Demon: I- I don't know, I swear!

Vampire #2: I seen him. The Beast. Seen him a couple of times. Down by the building by the wash.

    Angelus: Show me.

Lilah: Why so glum? It is kinda what you wanted, isn't it? I mean, deep down. Me out of the picture- utterly, finally. You can't get outer than this. It makes your life simpler, doesn't it? Cleaner?

    Wesley: I didn't want this.

Lilah: Come on, what are you worried about, Wesley? You hated yourself for being with me. Or maybe you just hated yourself for loving being with me. Hey, semantics. In any case, we both knew, sooner or later, it would come to a messy end. For one of us, anyway. So ease up on that furrowed brow. You're free now. No longer encumbered with the secret shame of our relationship.

    Wesley: It wasn't a relationship.

Lilah: There's a signed dollar bill in your wallet I think proves different. You knew how I felt.

    Wesley: You don't feel.

Lilah: The only true thing I ever-

Wesley: You didn't love me. You couldn't.

Lilah: We'll never know now, will we?

Vampire #2: Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the place. This is the place, right?

Vampire #1: Hey, man, you saw the thing. I didn't.

Angelus: Where was the Beast headed?

    Vampire #2: Uh, I can't remember, man.

    Angelus: Try remembering harder, Paco.

Vampire #2: OK, I was just trying to steer clear of the mammoth, all right? You know what I'm saying, man?

Angelus: Listen to what I'm saying. I don't have time to-

Vampire #2: Hey. Hey man, you want we should come with? Uh, all right, we'll just stay here. Man, you made him nervous.

    Vampire #1: Me?

    Vampire #2: Damn

Faith: OK, you got my attention. What's your beef, Deb? You really ought to think twice. Or not.

Deb: Nothing personal. I need the money.

    Faith: For a nose job?

    Guard: Come on, come on.

Faith: Hey, hey, self defense. She attacked me, Eddie.

Guard: Yeah, I saw the whole thing. Get her to the infirmary.

    Faith: Wait, you saw?

Guard: Hey, caught us by surprise. I mean, who'd be crazy enough to try to take you out?

Lilah: I know what it is. The reason you're having such a hard time with this. Why you're taking so long to- you know... The awful truth: you couldn't save me. And this is the exclamation point.

Wesley: Saved you from the Beast, for all the good it did.

Lilah: Wesley, you know that's not what I'm talking about. You couldn't save me from me.

Wesley: Is that what you thought?

Lilah: Me? Lover, I'm not even here. I'm just a figment in your devilishly handsome head. So, clearly, it's what you thought. For all your supposed darkness, edge of the razor mystique, there was always a small part of you that thought you could pull me back from the brink of my evil, evil ways. Help me find redemption.

    Wesley: Redemption?

Lilah: Angel's influence, I suppose. The whole not giving up on someone, no matter how far he- or she- has fallen. Oh, well. Too late for me. Let's just get it over with. That body's not gonna dismember itself, you know.

    Wesley: I'm sorry, Lilah.

Lilah: Oh, Wes, we don't have that word in our vocabulary. Not people like you and

Angelus: This how you treat an old friend. Kill the chick I was chasing, then lure me here with the scent of her blood.

The Beast: We were never friends, Angelus.

Angelus: I know. But calling you a big dumb hunk of rock seemed a little on the nose. Come on... I'm teasing. It's been, what, a couple hundred years. You still want to kick my ass.

The Beast: It's true I long to crush your skull, but I didn't bring you here to fight. That wasn't my instruction.

    Angelus: Your instruction?

The Beast: My master has requested you.

Angelus: Your master. Nice workmanship. Did you make this in shop for daddy?

    The Beast: Don't touch that.

Angelus: Sorry. I can see you put a lot of yourself into it. So... the attack on Angel Investigations, rain of fire, blotting out the sun-

The Beast: Stealing your soul... All designed by my master to bring forth and keep Angelus.

Angelus: Hell of a plan. Real "big picture" thinking. So, when can I meet the big brain behind my liberation?

The Beast: In time. For now, you will take your orders through me.

Angelus: Or, here's a better idea: no, I won't. Tell your boss I'm grateful for the attention, but I don't take grocery lists from the messenger boy.

The Beast: I will teach you respect.

Angelus: Look, you may have played those suckers at Angel, Inc., but I don't like having my strings yanked, and I don't like being kept in the dark... Figuratively, anyway. And if your boss was half as smart as he thinks he is, he knows I won't take orders from a lackey. What? You don't like "lackey?" Hmm. Or how about, uh, toady? Or lickspittle? Lickspittle's nice. Oh, wait, I got it. Flunky. That's it. You're just a big, stupid, butt-ugly, slow-moving flunky. Ah, come on, Rocky. If that's all you got, you better throw in the towel and call it a night. When the Beastmaster's ready to peek out from behind your skirt, have him give me a call.

Cordevila: Well, you handled that brilliantly.

The Beast: He's not to be trusted.

Cordevila: What about you? Letting him bait you into a fight like that. I haven't spent all this time and energy so you can mess it all up with your petty jealousies. You know Angelus is crucial to my plan.

The Beast: My apologies, my master.

Cordevila: You need patience. He'll come around...when he sees what I have to offer. And, if he doesn't, you can pull off his head and tear him to bits. Now... give mama some sugar.

Faith: They told me my lawyer was here to see me. You my lawyer now, Wes?

Wesley: Hello, Faith. How are you?

Faith: Still alive. Never thought I'd live long enough to see you paying me a visit.

    Wesley: A lot's happened.

Faith: Whatever it is suits you. I mean, you're looking... good.

Wesley: You know what's going on in L.A.?

Faith: Seen the news, sure. Never-ending night, rain of fire. Team Angel must really have their hands full.

Wesley: You don't know the half of it.

Faith: But you're here to fill in the blanks for me. Why?

    Wesley: We need you.

Faith: Well, uh, I hate to wet the paper for you, Wes, but I'm kinda unavailable right now. Maybe you want to check back in a few decades when my parole comes up.

    Wesley: You need to know-

Faith: It's Armageddon again. I dig. The last thing you need's me in the mix. Besides, Angel'll come shining through in the end like he always does.

Wesley: Angel's gone, Faith. Angelus is back.

Faith: Step away from the glass.

    Faith: You OK?

    Wesley: Five by five.

    Faith: A kid. Angel's got a kid.

    Wesley: Connor.

Faith: A teenage kid born last year.

Wesley: I told you he grew up in a hell dimension.

Faith: Right. And, what, Cordelia spent her last summer as-

    Wesley: A divine being.

Faith: Uh-huh. Can I just ask- what the hell are you people doing?

    Wesley: Leading complicated lives, obviously.

Cordevila: Faith? What the hell is she doing here?

Faith: Nice to see you too, Cor.

    Wesley: She's here to help.

Cordevila: Oh, gee, that's great. Oh, wait a sec. Wasn't she convicted of murder and sent to a state correctional facility for like a gazillion years?

Faith: Murder 2, 25 to life, for the record.

Cordevila: So now you brought psycho slayer out of retirement to kill Angelus?

Faith: Cordelia, you have every right to feel that way about me. You have no reason to trust me, but I don't have loads of time, so why don't we save it until after this is over. Cool? OK, let's get down to it. We're gonna keep this hunting party tight. Gunn, right?

    Gunn: Yeah.

Faith: Love the name. I hear you're a good fighter.

    Gunn: I hold my own.

Faith: That's a shame. You're with me, Wes, and the kid.

Connor: The kid has a name.

Faith: Connor. Arm yourself how you like, but I want you to carry the tranq gun. If I can't take him down, I want you to be ready to take the shot, yeah? In case anyone has any other ideas, this is a salvage mission, not search and destroy, OK?

Connor: No. Not OK. You think you can just breeze in here, telling everyone what to do? You're not a part of this. If you think I'm not gonna kill Angelus if he comes at me, then-

Faith: Listen up, junior. When need a blood hound, I'll call you. If Angelus needs putting down, I'll be the one to do it, not you. So... is there anything else you're not OK with? Good. Show me the weapons.

Connor: So, vampire slayers. I was told about them. How come you're always girls?

Faith: I dunno. Better at it, I guess.

Connor: You haven't seen what I can do.

    Faith: Let's not.

    Connor: He was here. Just.

Faith: Eyes and ears peeled. Watch the periph. Hey, nobody make a move until I- You deficient? What did I just say?

    Connor: He was attacking!

Faith: You thought it was Angelus. You can't listen, you're no good to me. Get him out of here. Someone take him back to the hotel.

    Connor: What?

Gunn: Yeah, easier said. The kid's got a history of not doing what he's told.

Faith: He'll do what I tell him.

    Connor: Yeah, sure I will.

Faith: I get it. You're a super-being. Are you a murderer? 'Cause I am. If it comes down to you or Angelus, you haven't shown me a thing to make me want to take your side.

    Gunn: I like her.

Wesley: Do you know where we're going?

    Faith: Not especially.

Wesley: How do you expect to find Angelus without Connor?

Faith: The old-fashioned way. The kid's not the only tracker. Something'll turn up. A trail of bodies, tell-tale clue... maybe a carpet fiber.

Wesley: So much for the element of surprise. We'll have to come at him from two sides.

Faith: You take low. I'll hit him high.

Vampire #2: Pretty ballsy, mister, creeping around my buddy Angelus. Come on, pretty boy.

Angelus: Hey, Faith. Nice to see you again. Mmm. You're looking choice as ever. Oh, that's right. We've never really met, have we?

Faith: So, what are you waiting for? Come out and gimme a kiss.

Angelus: No, no, no. You come to me. That's it. Getting warmer. Warmer...warmer. You're smoking hot. But then again, you probably knew that. Honey, I brought a guest home for dinner. Let's eat.

The Beast: What is this, Angelus?

Angelus: This is a slayer. Say "hi" to the nice Beast, Faith.

The Beast: You dare to bring a slayer here?

Angelus: Hey, I'm doing you a favor, Stonehenge. She's here to seriously mess up you and your boss's plans. So, question is, what do you do, hot shot? Hmm? What do you do? Smile, Faith. I thought you'd enjoy a threesome.

    Faith: Sure.

    Angelus: Oh.

    Faith: Let's get it on.

Angelus: Ooh-ee! Watch yourself, big guy, the girl's on fire. That's gonna sting in the morning. Nice! Come on, Faithy. You're not even trying. Better get up. Oh! You know, somebody should break this up.

The Beast: This is all you are? I had heard the slayer possessed great strength, but there's no real power here. My master's power is beyond all limits, beyond your petty imagining. You are weak. You're nothing. You could not even defeat me.

Angelus: Ain't that the truth. I mean, look at this guy, hm? Pretty much the only thing that could do damage to that thick, stony hide...is himself. Or, maybe, I don't know, a piece of himself. I knew it. I knew it! Aw, crap! You mean, killing the Beast really does bring back the sun? I thought that was Angel's retarded fantasy. Aah! Oh, well, what're you gonna do? Take the bad with the good, I always say. Anyway, I just wanted Beastie boy here to soften you up. I like my meat nice and tender. Ooh, swing and a miss, slugger. Sorry, but- God! OK. Well, I gotta give you props. Nice move, really. I guess we'll just have to take a rain check on that whole eviscerating you thing. Just you and me, now, Faithy. Catch you later.

Gunn: Ooh-oo. Check it out. We got sun.

Lorne: Well, ding dong, the Beast is dead.

Fred: I've never seen anything so beautiful in all my life. Where are the others?

Lorne: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's hear the war stories. How'd you bring that monster down?

Gunn: Well, it wasn't us. Not Connor and me, anyway. We-

Connor: She must've fought it. Faith. The Beast must've attacked her, and she must- It's gotta be. Hey, where's Cordy? Does she know?

Fred: She's up in her room.

    Lorne: Hey, what about Angelus?

Gunn: Well, if that girl can take out the Beast, my money says she'll have Angelus hog-tied and back here by dinner time.

    Connor: Hey! Isn't it incredible?

    Cordevila: It's...wonderful.

Connor: She did it. Faith. She's... amazing.

    Cordevila: Connor-

Connor: I mean, I had no idea what a slayer could do.

Cordevila: A weakness for slayers? You're definitely his son. Connor, we need- There's something you need to, um- I don't know how- Well, I know how, but, uh...

    Connor: What? What is it?

Cordevila: We're having a baby. Touch it.

Connor: This- it's impossible. I- How could?

Cordevila: All I know is there's a life growing inside of me, and it's ours. We're connected now. You and me. Forever.

  • Hi, Faith.

    9.0
    "Superb"
Brilliant! Faith is salvaged to salvage Angel from Angelus.

I'm very disappointed, however, in Angelus' nose.

Angelus, instead of using his magnificent nose and keen eye for carnage, tracks the Beast by beating up demon bar patrons. And once he finds the Beast, Cordy is standing right there with it and he ... can't smell her?

That protothrall of hers is getting to be a little too full-service.

Wesley has an excellent conversation with Lilah, and then with Faith. It's cool that Faith feels the tug of her calling sufficiently to break out and address Angelus.

And what a great reintroduction to Faith in this episode. "Like riding a biker." And Wes saying "Five by five" when Faith asked him how he was after falling three stories onto a car.

Cordy kissing the Beast was absolutely unnecesary.

And I loved the "carpet fiber" Angelus left for them. "Welcome, Faith!" indeed.

It's cool Angelus killed the Beast. I'm glad someone did. Not at all certain why he killed the Beast -- it might have been a because he could thing. It could be a shoop thing, but of course Angelus is not a vampire with a soul so I'm not sure it counts.

    Here it is, from S1x22:

    The SHOOP

    > The Beast Cordy faced in an alternate reality in Reseda in "Birthday."

    > The vampire with a soul, once he fulfills his destiny, will shoop -- become human. "It's his reward."

    > He has to survive the coming darkness, apocalyptic battles, a few plagues, and several -- "oh, not that many" -- fiends that will be unleashed.

And, according to W&H, the vampire with a soul will also play a major role in the apocalypse, but they don't know what, so they're trying to make him dark so he's fighting on their side.

Theoretically, he fights on the side of good to achieve his reward. But say he's playing a major role in the apocalypse and at a critical juncture he becomes human, somebody kills him and that's how they avert the apocalypse. Hmmm ...

Angelus is useless to W&H -- no soul. Angie is closer to the mark -- ensouled but still dark.

//None// of them are especially useful to Jasmine. So again, what the hell is she doing? All she did by releasing Angelus is make Angel more dangerous and unpredictable than he might be -- making him all the more likely to defeat the Beast (unless she honestly thought they'd build an alliance and work together and how is that in line with any of her sinister plans?)

Oy, she's so hard to read. Maybe she's not evil. Maybe she's just //wacky//.

    Powers? Anything?

    PowersThatBe: * sip *

    Erg. Arg.

I liked Faith's interactions with everyone. And her very clever breaking of that window and letting the sunshine in, to give herself time to recover. That's, I'm guessing, why Angelus left, instead of just hanging around 'til the sun went down.

Is it wrong that when Faith was fighting Angelus that those little effort noises she was making sounded ... like //other// noises?

    //Hot// noises?

//Does that seeem right to you?//

JASMINE WATCH: That kiss between Cordy and the Beast was creepy. But somehow, her smooch with Connor at the end seemed even creepier.
  • The best episode of the season so far (excluding Apocalypse Nowish)!!!

    10
    "Perfect"
Season 4 of Angel, in reality, was about 2 or 3 episodes stretched across 22 hours of time; I’m not complaining, but it made the WB very angry. Salvage can easily be argued as the best episode of the season. With Eliza Dushku (gorgeous as ever) returning as Faith for the first time in 2 ½ years, and Angelus free to roam around in LA, Salvage has all the makings of a pivotal episode of Season 4. But the best part is the HUGE fight between Faith and the Beast, which has and an interesting ending. I definitely recommend this episode.
