Gunn and Wesley pursue Fred as she flees from the hotel into the streets filled with Jasmine worshippers. Fred flees underground and hides in the sewer tunnels.
Scores of adoring subjects gather in the Hyperion longing to hear from Jasmine. Lorne registers folks at the lobby desk, but the hotel soon is at capacity. Desperate to get in, one man offers his house in payment because he just wants to be near Jasmine. Lorne understands and he too expresses his adoration.
Jasmine descends the stairs and at her side are a smiling Angel and contented Connor. She greets the crowd warmly, and speaks to several individuals in their native languages. Addressing the sea of spellbound faces, she assures them that her love is all around them.
Wesley takes Connor and Angel aside to tell them the bad news about Fred's escape. Angel promises to capture her and Connor offers to take her scalp. Wesley warns that Jasmine commands them to keep her alive. Jasmine asks two worshippers, a man and a woman, to join her in her private room.
Fred enters The Magic Bullet, an occult bookstore, seeking a reference on mass hypnosis. Except for Fred and the owner, Ted, the store is empty because there is no demand for such books in Jasmine's Utopian wonderland. Ted, a paranoid, conspiracy theorist, states that after listening to Jasmine's radio interview the previous night, he has never been happier. He thinks that Jasmine is a breath of fresh air. Ted still believes in mind control but he does not worry about it anymore. He thinks that Fred is paranoid if she believes that Jasmine has turned them all into mindless puppets. He offers the book "Making Mind Control Work for You," but states that everyone should trust in Jasmine's love.
Angel and Connor track Fred through the dark underground tunnels. As they search for Fred, Connor tells how he was trained to be a good tracker while growing up in the Hell Dimension. As Angel expresses paternal concern at the abusive training methods used on Connor, Connor senses that Jasmine wants them back at the hotel.
Jasmine is pleased as she watches herself on a web cast, which will be part of an Internet site Wesley is designing to take Jasmine's message to the world. After Angel and Connor return, Jasmine instructs the team to help her locate Fred. They all to join hands in a circle and visualize Fred's location as Jasmine repeats, "Where are you Fred? I'm looking for you."
In broad daylight, Fred checks into a seedy motel. However, Jasmine has eyes everywhere and sees Fred. As the people at the motel close in on Fred, Fred hears Jasmine's voice: "There's nowhere to run dear. My love is all around you." A man attempts to run down Fred with his car, but he crashes into a parked vehicle that bursts into flames. Fred dives to the side of the road to avoid the crash. The man, oblivious to the raging inferno, walks through the fire towards the fallen Fred. The flames consume him as he tells Fred not to be afraid.
Jasmine continues to hold hands with Angel and the gang, but suddenly withdraws from the circle and collapses with serious burns on her hands. Jasmine states that Fred escaped once again but that now everyone who loves Jasmine knows what Fred looks like so Fred has nowhere to hide. Jasmine instructs Angel and the team not to worry about Fred but to see to the needs of the people in the hotel. Lorne and Connor agree with this idea and state, almost in harmony, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world." Jasmine tells them that she must focus on healing her hands and asks the team to send a pair of twins from the lobby up to see her. She assures them that no one will feel lonely again.
Fred walks the streets all alone and is again forced to flee from Jasmine's minions. In diving to get out of the path of another speeding car, Fred plunges down a hill and crashes through the roof of a small cave. She comes face to face with an ill-tempered green demon. Although Fred is injured, she keeps the smart-mouthed creature at bay.
Wesley addresses the crowd at the hotel, warning them to beware of Winifred because she is a monster who wants to lead the people away from Jasmine. Lorne then gives them the morning Jasmine report and announces open mike night at the Fellowship Hall so that everyone can share their personal joy and love of Jasmine. At the open mike event, a diverse group of followers cry or sing as they praise the mocha goddess. One follower, using sign language, expresses her love for Jasmine and swears vengeance on Fred. In a very humorous sequence, Lorne sings "Fred is Dead," and Angel and Connor sing a duet of "Jasmine, you came and you gave without taking" to the tune of "Mandy."
The green creature complains to Fred that he is an executive demon forced to live in this dirt hotel because of the reign of Jasmine. Fred shares that she is a fugitive from Jasmine too. He and Fred discuss stopping Jasmine after they get some rest. Fred notices that the demon has a stash of human hands. He crunches on a finger and asks if Fred wants some finger food. Showing his true demonic nature to a startled Fred, the creature attacks her, but she manages to reach a nearby ax and split his skull. Fred is bleeding even more after the attack. This causes Fred to realize the effect of Jasmine's blood. She saw Jasmine's true horrific face after cleaning Jasmine's bloodstained garment.
Fred returns to The Magic Bullet where a crowd of Jasmine worshippers surrounds her. Fred boldly challenges Jasmine: "Here I am. Come and get me." Fred wields an ax and threatens the storeowner, who tells her that they are under strict orders not to hurt her. He asks for Fred's autograph just as Jasmine and Angel arrive. As a reward, Jasmine offers the conspiracy theorist bookstore owner the priceless nugget of information that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. There was no second gunman.
Terrified, Fred asks Angel to forgive her. Fred shoots Jasmine and the bloody bullet passes through Jasmine's body and hits Angel. Angel shows his vampire face and subdues Fred, grabbing her gun and threatening to shoot her in the neck. In desperation, Fred tells Angel to look at Jasmine. Having come into contact with Jasmine's blood, Angel now sees her worm-infested, rotting face. Jasmine immediately sees what has happened and warns the others that Angel has been infected and is as dead to them as Fred. Fred shoots Jasmine several times. Connor attacks Fred, knocking her out before turning his anger on Angel. The father and son fight viciously as Jasmine lies seriously wounded with her blood all over the floor. She calls for Connor to help her get back to the hotel. The fight between father and son ends and Angel gathers up Fred and runs away. Jasmine commands everyone in the bookstore to stay away from her blood, and orders the owner to burn the store to the ground.
Lorne, Wesley, and Gunn feast along with the other worshippers at the hotel, but they feel empty because Jasmine is absent. Wesley senses something is wrong as Jasmine returns without Angel. Jasmine tells Wesley, Lorne, and Gunn that Angel has been infected and blames herself because her kindness made him reach out to Fred. By trying to love Fred, Jasmine opened the door to her hate. Now, Jasmine promises to eradicate them both. Jasmine commands three worshippers to join her in private as Connor helps her upstairs. Wesley, Lorne, and Gunn remain downstairs and watch Jasmine ascend the stairs. Wesley states that if Jasmine says that Angel has to die, he must die. The other two agree.
Fred and Angel escape into the dark underground tunnels. Fred regains consciousness and sees Angel despondent in a corner. Even though contact with Jasmine's blood has broken her spell over Fred and Angel, they both are depressed. The blood got into Fred's system when she was washing Jasmine's blouse, and it got into Angel's when the bullet that passed through Jasmine hit him and pierced his chest. Fred wants to help the others by getting more of Jasmine's blood. Angel has an idea of how to get more blood that will break the spell, but they hear a crowd coming, so Fred and Angel kiss, pretending to be passionate lovers. The Jasmine worshippers still recognize them and attack, so Angel and Fred fight for their lives.
Connor brings more people to Jasmine's room, and Jasmine tells him to stand guard, letting no one into the hallway. Jasmine instructs the three worshippers to take off their clothes as she looks in the mirror and observes the bullet wounds in her shoulder begin to heal.
Angel and Fred sneak into a comatose Cordelia's room. They assume that Cordelia is brain dead so Angel raises a knife to cut a vein. He gently kisses her forehead and apologizes for taking her blood. In a reflex action, Cordelia grabs Angel's hand and stays the knife. Fred reminds him that people in comas have reflex movement, but this does not mean that she is awake.
A harsh bright light emanates from Jasmine's room as she feeds to regain her strength. She emerges from the room sated and content and tells Connor that she ate the people. "Cool," he says.
Lorne visits Cordelia's room to bless her for giving birth to Jasmine. Angel and Fred grab Lorne and cut his wrist to expose him to Cordelia's blood. This breaks Jasmine's hypnotic spell.
Lorne agrees to play the role of Judas Iscariot the betrayer and goes to ask Gunn and Wesley to help him with an errand for Jasmine. Wesley notices that Lorne's wrist is cut, but Lorne minimizes this, telling him that it's a long boring story. The two precede Lorne into a room where Lorne knocks them out with a large stick. After contact with Cordelia's blood, Gunn and Wesley are now fully aware of Jasmine's mind control, but they are despondent because they believed Jasmine's message. They struggle to figure out how to fight something so huge and powerful. Angel vows not to leave the hotel without his son.
Wesley offers to get Connor and lures him to another room. Angel restrains Connor while Wesley slices Connor's chest and smears it with Cordelia's blood. Angel releases Connor and apologizes, stating that this was the only way to shake him free of Jasmine's control. The blood does not have the same eye-opening effect on Connor who screams for help shouting, "They're here! Come quick! They're here!" Angel and the team are dumbstruck.
