Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • Anger to start with and delivery on spec

Starting a new television series, especially when the lead is a tranished celeb, can always be expected to be rocky. Consequently, the first prgram of "Anger Management" didn't hold great promise but Charlie is an interesting enough character to make a "look-see", in the interests if being fair, compulsory.

As a first program it was a lot more solid than many, many comedies that are current (e.g. Two Broke Girls). Charlie can still deliver a line very well and the rest of the ensemble performed well. The premise holds together a lot more cohesively than the plot excuse (we can call it little more than that)) of 2 1/2 Men in current production, and the program avoided that "awkward" feeling that new comedies often experience.

Without the benefit of more background and because of the newness of the cast, the aura of the prior film of the same nature (Sandler and Nicholson), it couldn't really score a 10 unless it was exceptional... Charlie's makeup was either poor and/or couldn't hide the tiredness and stress that we all suspect is not just part of his lead characterisation.

The end result was a good start for a comedy series but unless the can inject better plot development then a capable cast will have to continue to carry the show.moreless
