(Yakko, Wakko, and Dot Short) When Marita Hippo's Diamond is stolen onboard a cruise, Hercule Yakko and his associates search around the ship for clues. Eventually they discover that Marita was sitting on the diamond the entire time.

    Here is my review for the Animaniacs cartoon "Hercule Yakko". When I first saw this cartoon, I thought it had something to do with Greek mythology (the word "Hercules" sans the "S" at the end), but then I realized it had to do with mystery-solving and the name "Hercule" is like a name for a detective. Anyway, in this episode, the Warner Brothers and Sister are assigned to find a missing diamond owned by Marita of The Hip Hippos. This is one of those cartoons that have different characters starring in it. The characters starring in this cartoon are: The Hip Hippos, The Warners, Chicken Boo (who makes a cameo in this cartoon), Slappy Squirrel, Minerva Mink (who makes her official apperance in this cartoon), and Pinky and the Brain. There were many jokes about mysteries in this cartoon and they were all funny. A great episode.moreless

    • Dot: I found Prince! Yakko: No, no, no. Finger prints! Dot: (looks at Prince) I don't think so!

    • Yakko: (to Pinky and Brain) Did you steal a big diamond? Brain: No. We are Swiss hikers on holiday. Pinky: (holds his ears like pigtails) Look at me, Brain! I'm Heidi! Yodel-ay-ie-narf! (Brain smacks him with a mallet and shuts the door.)

    • Minerva: Who is it? (opens door) Yakko: Good evening. I'm... (sees Minerva) in love.

    • Flavio: Don't worry, my little dewdrop; we will find your diamond, for the thief must be on this very cruise ship! Marita: Not in first class, I hope! (A knock is heard at the door) Flavio: (gasps) They have come back for matching earrings!

    • Flavio: Are you an inspector of The Yard? Yakko: Not if you have a dog.

    • Yakko: Rest assured, I am this close to solving the crime. Flavio: But, monsieur, you don't know what the crime is! Yakko: Oh, details, details.

    • Dot: (holding Prince) I found Prince! Yakko: No, no, no. FINGER-prints. Dot: (looks at Prince) I don't think so...

    • Yakko: Do you have any enemies? Flavio and Marita: No. Yakko: Do you have any creditors? Flavio and Marita: No. (Yakko appears behind a piano) Yakko: Well, then... Do you have any requests?

    • Maria: That was when I realized that I had been rob-bed! Yakko: (to Flavio) Which one are you? "Rob" or "Ed"?

    • (there's a knock at the door) Yakko: Quick! Everyone, give me your wallets, your money, your valuables! Marita: Do you think it's the thief? Yakko: No. I think it's the pizza. (Chicken Boo comes in dressed as a pizza delivery man, takes the money and leaves.) Wakko: He was odd... Dot: He was strange... Porter: He was a chicken, I tell you! A giant chicken!

    • Yakko: There's been a robbery onboard, ma'am! Have you noticed anything...strange? Slappy: I saw Wally Gator slam dance with The Smurfs... Is that strange enough for you? Yakko: Did you hear a scream? Slappy: Like this? (screams loudly at Yakko) Yakko: Yes. Slappy: No! (shuts door)

    • Yakko: You're all probably wondering why I called you here... Everyone: To reveal the thief?? Yakko: No, because you can't play charades with three people. Slappy: That's it! I'm going back to bed. Minerva: So am I. I didn't take the diamond... Brain: I also am innocent! Pinky: Umm, I may have done it; I walk in my sleep, you know... (Brain smacks Pinky with a mallet.)

    • Slappy: (opening door) What?! Yakko: I'm Hercule Yakko, a slueth. Slappy: Yeah? Well, I'm Slappy Squirrel, asleep! (shuts door)

    • Pinky: Look at me, Brain, I'm Heidi! Heidi is a very popular children's book about a little girl living in the Swiss Alps with her cranky old grandfather. She wore her long blond hair in two braids on the sides of her face, just like Pinky's disguise.

    • Dot: Oh, "A Night at the Opera"...I get it. A Night at the Opera was one of the Marx Brothers' most popular films and included a scene on a cruise ship where way too many kept cramming themselves into a tiny state room. Dot's sarcasm is making reference to how many films and television shows have over-parodied that scene any time they have a scene that takes place on a cruise ship.

    • Colombo: Ah, just one more question. This character, while not named, is a parody of the main character from Colombo, a popular crime-drama from the 70s/80s starring Peter Falk. His famous line in every episode was, "Ah, just one more thing" where he would trick the suspect into admitting that they were guilty.
