The song "Promenade" from Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition, is often heard through the episode.
The turtle who yells "Hey, watch it, dude!" speaks with a voice like Michaelangelo's, but was wearing the purple mask, which would make him Donatello.
For some reason, Michaelangelo is wearing a Roman toga, even though this takes place in Renaissance Italy.
Michaelangelo: You fools, I'm the great Michaelangelo. And this is the Sistine Chapel. Yakko: Oh yeah. If you're so great what did you do with the other fifteen Chapels? Huh? Gotcha there.
Michaelangelo: No, it's supposed to look like this! (shows the Warners his plans) Dot: Oh! More naked people! Yakko: I wouldn't go flashing that around, Mike. (whispers) This is a church!
Dot: Why don't you go paint that Mona Lisa? Michaelangelo: That's DaVinci! Dot: That's delightful! Yakko: That's de-lovely, but come on! We have a ceiling to paint!
Michaelangelo: Let me in...LET ME IN!! (Yakko opens a hole in the door, dressed as a Ozian guard) Yakko: Nobody gets in to see the wizard. Not no way, not no how! Michaelangelo: But I'm Michaelangelo! Yakko: The witch's Michaelangelo? Well, now that's a ceiling of a different color!
Yakko: We paint ceilings for 29.95! How do we do it? No overhead. In fact, if you hire us you'll have nothing overhead. And if you hired us there'll be nothing in your head. We paint ceilings, ceilings, and only ceilings! We don't paint floors, because they're beneath us.
Michaelangelo: And you! How can I work with all you peasants kneeling and mumbling?! Peasant: But, Michaelangelo, this is a church! Michaelangelo: Oh, that explains that infernal bell ringing.
Narrator: I'm afraid popular culture has successfully eradicated the actual identities of the true poets of art. In my opinion: it stinks! Ninja Turtle: Watch out, dude! Narrator: I'll deal with you later. Now, Michaelangelo was a brilliant artist, not a turtle...
Michaelangelo: NOOOOOO!! What did you do to my beautiful ceiling?!? Yakko: We had a heck of a dime covering up all those naked people.
Dot: [after Michelangelo sees the picture of Elvis & poker-playing dogs on the ceiling] I knew it! He prefers the young Elvis!
Yakko: Wait a minute! You expect us poor innocent children to climb up dangerous scaffolding and paint naked people all over a church? We'll do it! But we're not doing it for the sake of art, and we're not doing it for the sake of money...No, we'll do it because...we like painting naked people!
Steven Speilberg: [seeing the E.T. version of the Sistene Chapel] I like it! Yakko: Hey Mikey, he likes it!
The portrayal of Michaelangelo featured in this short (based off of actor Kirk Douglas) would later appear on Histeria! in the episode "Euro-Mania".
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles make a cameo.
The GoodFeathers make a brief cameo appearance on Michaelangelo's statue of David.

Michelangelo: Oh, that explains the infernal bell-ringing. After Michelangelo realizes that the Sistine Chapel is a church, the camera cuts to Quasimodo ringing the bells. Quasimodo was the bell-ringer of the Notre Dame cathedral in Victor Hugo's classic novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Ninja Turtle: Watch out, Dude! This is a reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, all of whom are named after renaissancce artists, including Michelangelo
Yakko: Nobody gets in to see the wizard no how! Yakko's green costume and dialogue is a reference to the doorman in Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz.
Yakko: Hey, Mikey, he likes it! This is a reference to the old Life cereal commercial from the 70's.
