      • Names on Map: Sarnoff and Lake Radomski
These names are a reference to members of the Warner Brothers animation production staff. Sarnoff refers to Animaniacs production manager Tim Sarnoff and Lake Radomski refers to Eric Radomski who is a producer of Batman: The Animated Series.

      • Court Jester #1: I don't know. I can't see the cue card.
The character of Court Jester #1 is a parody of Bob Hope. His comment about the cue card is a reference to Bob Hope's heavy reliance on cue cards and other prompts in the production of his television specials.

      • Character: Perry Coma
The character of Perry Coma is a parody of Perry Como and the name is a play on his slow monotone singing style.

      • Yakko: Citizens of Anvilania, I stand before you because if I was behind you, you couldn't see me.
This joke is a classic joke of Groucho Marx. There are a number of other Marx Brothers references throughout the episode. The episode's plot is also somewhat similar to the plot of the Marx Brothers film Duck Soup.

      • Characters: Belle and the Beast
As Dot polkas with Umlatt, characters resembling Belle and the Beast from the Disney film Beauty and the Beast waltz across the ballroom dance floor.

      • Court Jester #1: Hey. Take my anvil--- Please!
This joke is a reference to the classic Henny Youngman one-liner "Take my wife--- Please!"

      • Yakko: Factory direct to you. No middleman. I am the king.
This quote is a parody of a series of commercials that air in the Los Angeles area. The commercials featured a television salesman named Paul "the King of Big-Screen". The ads show him wearing a crown and end with him say "I am the king."

      • Music: The Anvil Chorus
A reoccurring theme in the music of this episode is "The Anvil Chorus" from the opera Il trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi.

      • Plot: The Giant Wooden Anvil
The Giant Wooden Anvil that contains Perry Coma that is rolled out to the dictator's base by the Warners is a reference to the Trojan Horse the Trojans used to sneak into their enemie's city.

      • Plot: Wakko sticks his leg in the Prime Minster's hand
In another Marx Brother's reference when the Prime Minister offers Wakko her hand, Wakko place his leg in it. This gag is part of a classic Harpo Marx routine.
