    • Cats: Oh help us God, We're living with a Sweeny Todd! Sweeny Todd is a villain appearing in various works of literature, and he is a serial killer. Monsieur Tristesse plans to use the cats in meat pies, so they are comparing the two.
    • Episode Title: Les Miseranimals. This is an allusion to the novel by French novelist Victor Hugo (1802-1885) "Les Misèrables" written in 1862. Among the most well known novels of the 19th century, it follows the lives and interactions of several French characters over a twenty year period in the early 19th century that includes the Napoleonic wars and subsequent decades. The music itself parodies songs from smash-hit musical of the same name, including "Master of the House" ("Bitten in ze Butt"), "Lovely Ladies" ("Lovely Rita") and "Do You Hear the People Sing?" ("Do You Hear the Poodles Bark?").
