  • The first Rita & Runt cartoon I've ever seen.

Here is my review for a very special cartoon from the show "Animaniacs". It's very special to me because it's the very first cartoon I've seen Rita and Runt star in. It's called "Puttin' On The Blitz", and it's about Rita and Runt in 1940's Poland. While there, they encounter a young girl and her father who are running away from Nazi soldiers that are after them. Rita and Runt try their best at protecting them from the soldiers until the girl and her father get on a train and make it out safely from Poland. The first time I saw this cartoon, I thought it was kinda sad, especially the way Rita the Cat sung in this cartoon. On the upside, however, this cartoon had the appearance of Newt the Dachsund, a dog character that went after Minerva Mink in some of the cartoons she appeared in. Other than that, this cartoon is worth watching.moreless
  • Yeah, man! My two favorite characters at their very best in this one! Awesome character drama.

True, this might be a touch more serious than most of the Animaniacs fare, but it was a very well done type of serious and it did an awesome job of showing Rita and Runt at their very best. Not only did Rita get THREE great songs in this episode and an awesome demonstration about how deep Rita and Runt's friendship has evolved at this point, but the subplot about Rita and Runt helping a girl make it out of war-torn Poland was truly touching material. Also, I absolutely loved seeing Rita kick that German dog's butt twice in the cartoon (it definitely shows how tough that gal can be. :D) AND go back for Runt even when she was on the verge of obtaining her heart's desire, all because she felt it wouldn't mean as much if she didn't have Runt to share it with after everything THEY'VE been through together. As I said, great drama and even better heart-warming material in this one. :Dmoreless
