Thurman hires Brierly's to find a man called Eddie Marsham, and it seems a man on a motorbike called Kilshaw is also looking for Marsham - and then he follows Anna. It turns out that Kilshaw and Thurman have both been in prison and Marsham has their money.
Meanwhile, Anna meets a divorced vet called Peter Wainwright, whose son was killed by Alan Perriman, a drunk driver. Brierly's is able to prove that Perriman is still driving while banned.
Peter and Anna are falling for each other, and they go to Exmoor together, on the trail of Marsham, where he tries to kill them both. Anna works it out that Marsham, Thurman, and Kilshaw robbed a mail train ten years before. Marsham claims he cut a deal with the police and gave them the money. Kilshaw then tries to kill Marsham but is arrested, and Anna traps Thurman, too.
In the end, Anna is dismayed when Peter walks out on her - he has made it up with his former wife.
