Why are there no topics for this show? I loved it - it was one of my favorite soaps!!!!

Loved Jensen Buchanan as Vicky and loved Jake and Vicky together!

I'm 14 and I'm currently trying to get into Another World by watching reruns on SOAPNet, and I have to say...
Why did they pull AW off the air??? 35 years on NBC and they decide to show their appreciation to their fans by yanking it off the air. I wouldn't have minded watching this every day. It seemed like a great show.

It was a wonderful show, but since you are a new viewer I won't tell you the "Jump the Shark" moment they had in 96 that was the beginning of the end for the show. The viewers stopped tuning in and the show just went downhill until NBC cancelled it. But I would still watch it today if it were still on.

I think I know what you mean... when a beloved character was, well, given the axe... I read about it. (My apologies if I have reminded you of a great loss.)

The "beloved character" was Frankie Frame.

Hmmm... I don't recall that but I do remember a lot of great characters and story lines—and I'm a young guy! That just goes to show the broad appeal of the show.

The show can be summed up in one word: classy. Especially when you compare it to other soaps, like the mess that DoOL has become or the joke that Passions has always been. I don't watch soaps much at all anymore but if I did, I would certainly pick this one.

Despite my original upset over the cancellation, I have to admit I am glad they were able to do a nice, classy end to it instead of declining like a lot of other shows.

Remember the last scene, with the—current—cast in it's entirety assembled, like they were taking a class picture, all dressed up, and thanking the viewers before saying goodbye.

    Classy.

I'm with you, and I am almost 60! AW is still my favorite soap of all time, and I still miss it more than anything on tv. Alice Barrett (Frankie Frame), Anne Heche, Linda Dano, Charles Keating, Paul Michael Valley, Anna Holbrook, Stephen Schnetzer and Kyra Sedgwick were great favorites, among some others.

This WAS the classiest of all daytime dramas and the people mentioned above made it so. I am STILL reeling from killing Frankie off and then cancelling the best show on daytime. I never believed they lost viewers, NEVER, and when Passions replaced it, I was dumbfounded. I cannot get the network that shows these episodes in rerun, but so glad someone is doing that so others can see it.

I really think the people who make these decisions now have NO clue about how to keep viewers on their networks. Cancelling shows that are loved as much as this one was shows there is an agenda somewhere other than providing the best on TV. And it isn't even money, because they still have junk like Passions on, and I dont know ANYONE of any age who watches it. If loss of viewership caused AW to be cancelled, why is DOOL still on? b-o-r-i-n-g.

Thanks to all those wonderful actors who were on AW and made it the best daytime show of all time.

Yeah I used to watch Days but I stopped when they killed all the main characters off then brought them back to life.  The storylines are so competitive.

I love watching AW on Soapnet.  It is so refreshing.

I got into Another World, I think in 1989. I don't quite remember at what point I stopped watching. It wasn't because I didn't like it anymore...I can't remember why though. I started watching on SoapNet which I think started it from 1987? I didn't recall many of the characters that were there. I had hoped that they would go back even further than when they started. It would have been real nice to see it from the beginning. I'm about a month behind now (thanks DVR!) but I'll be watching this weekend. Last epi I saw was when Ryan came to Vicki's rescue. I remember watching that on NBC. When I started watching, Russell Todd was Jaime; I didn't remember Laurence Lau (by the way, he was ugly..now, he is very handsome...saw him on L&O). Anyway, since I've got a really bad memory, even though I know I've seen these episodes, It's like i'm watching them for the first time! LOL
