Anthony starts his journey with a declaration that he won't be seeing the Pyramids. Instead he heads to Cairo he remarks how good the city feels and smells. While there he eats the traditional Egyptian breakfast of fuul which is a think dipping paste for bread. Next Anthony meets Dr.Sayeed and they discuss the cultural implications of all Anthony sees. In the spice market we learn about Egypt's past as a spice trading Mecca. The two dine of stuffed pigeon at Farhat restaurant. After wards Anthony meets with Maza and eats Koshary. The dish is made of rice, spaghetti, lentils, and chickpeas and is an import from India. The two head to Kosh Kator cafe for tea and Shisha. This is the smoking of tobacco from a water bowl and pipe. Next Anthony travels the Nile on a Felucca which is a small sailing craft. He rides with Hasan who discusses the historical context of the Nile. While traveling the boat hits a bridge breaking the mast and leaving the duo and crew stranded on the river. After wards the duo head to El-Rafi and eat favored meat dishes. Later Anthony meets with fashion designer Yasmine for some home cooking at a child hood friends house. In the final segment of the show Anthony meets with the Bedouins which are people who live off of and in the desert. Anthony watches as the men slaughter a lamb with the fatal cut being while the lamb faces Mecca. The lamb is rubbed down and inside with a mixture of vegetables and cumin. The Bedouins dig a whole and provide heat to it and then cover it with sand. This creates a form of natural convection oven. While waiting for the meal to finish cooking the group plays top. The game is played by tossing sticks and if they land top side up your hand is spanked with a bamboo stick. The group eats they're meal of baked lamb and discuss how living in the desert changes a person.
