Davis: Mom, are you looking through my stuff? M.E.: Yeah, kinda. Davis: My socks? M.E.: I'm not looking for boy things, personal things a boy your age might have, I'm looking for...guns, knives, plastic explosives. Davis: Mom, are you crazy? M.E.: I hope so.
M.E.: No way do I want to write about the victims and I SURE don't want to write about Ben Sturnham. Glenn: Why not? M.E.: And say what? He was a good boy? That's what they always say, he was such a good boy. Well let me tell you this, good boys don't murder their friends.
M.E.: (looking at the pictures of school shooters) I'll be damned, Colliar, what do you see? Colliar: Kids. M.E.: What kind of kids? Colliar: Angry. M.E.: Go on. Colliar: Upset, confused. M.E.: And they're all white. Colliar: Oh, okay. M.E.: They're all white, and they're all males, don't you think that's interesting?
Adjoni: I remember him, he always wore black clothes, drove a black car, wore black gloves, listened to this rap group but that's not why they say he did it. Colliar: Well that rap music doesn't help. It's all about bitches and hoes and guns and killing. Kelly: Hello! Guns, he got them from under his father's bed. The school talked about getting metal detectors a couple years ago, maybe now they'll actually do it. Adjoni: It's not hard to slip a gun past a metal detector. Colliar: Well that boy was crazy before he ever picked up a gun.
Muriel: (to Marietta) I want you all to suffer, I want to set fire to all your homes while you sleep. Rene: Muriel... Muriel: My attorney thinks otherwise.
Rene: They assure me that Muffins' demise... Muriel: MURDER! Rene: Yes, was just a horrible accident.
Rene: Muffin's death was just a horrible accident. Muriel: An accident? Rear ending somebody's bumper is an accident, and bumpers can be replaced!
Teacher: These kids aren't doing anything the adults aren't -- office shootings, highway killings, family massacres. M.E.: And we say they don't listen to us.
Rene (reading M.E.'s article): We search our souls for answers when all we really need to do is look in the mirror. Adults kill each other in this country every day. Why are we surprised when our children do it? We are a violent society founded on war. We've taught our children well.
