Apocalypse: World War II

Show Summary

Apocalypse: World War II tells the story of the world's most tragic of times. Never before seen footage restored and colorized, as well as recently declassified material, are put together to tell the tale. The footage was mainly recorded by soldiers and civilians during the conflict. Unlike other documentaries of this type, it gives a much more harrowing sense of darkness, fear, and the reality of a war in which as many innocent bystanders died, as soldiers did. Some 50 million people died during the war largely, as the documentary shows, because of drastic orders given from the heads of state of the many countries involved. It sets out from the beginnings of the war, the 1930s German Nazi party and runs through the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, painting a picture of how far human beings were willing to go in order to win a despicable war. The documentary reminds us all of the effect of war on every person and family. The incredible feature of this collection is that it finally offers a look at the brutality used by the Allies on German troops and vice-versa.moreless
