Arctic Diamond Fever

Show Summary

Arctic Diamond Fever is a documentary by Canadian Geographic which was aired in June 2003. This 47 minutes-long documentary is a story about the discovery of the most valuable gem in the world, diamonds, in the Canadian North. This documentary starts with the story about Chuck Fipke who was the first one to discover the rock in the North and claim the stake. He searched for it, took samples of rocks to find evidence of any presence of diamonds, took the samples back to his lab, and did some testing. After the discovery made by Chuck, other geologists came rushing to the Atlantic in search of the diamonds. The task was not easy due to the rigid conditions of the North and finding the evidence of the diamond's presence is very difficult. Geologists used technology to their advantage, used the satellite maps and studied the land pattern. Despite the deathly obstacles and risk involved, the geologists began what has become the biggest staking rush in world history.moreless
