The poem that Gary wrote that was supposed to be a secret has Samantha's name written on it huge across the front. Not very subtle.
After filming the clown doll was put on eBay and sold for $11,597 although fake bidding pushed it up to $500,000.
Sam: This stuff is a bunch of crud; don't buy anything here. I'm going to the toy store. Mike: No! I'm supposed to watch you. Sam: No sweat. Watch me leave.
Gary: (Story Intro) Tonight, I've got a special story... There's an old saying, "What goes around, comes around." In my story, one kid finds out that no matter what you do, good or bad, it always comes back at you. It's great if you do something nice, but if you do something rotten... Watch out! It's coming back, and probably when you least expect it. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story... The Tale Of The Crimson Clown.
Mike: Sam, whenever you're bad, and that means when you steal, the crimson clown is watching you.
Mike: You'd better not! Or the...Crimson Clown will get you!
Susan Algrem, who played Mike and Sam's mother, Mrs. Carter, also played Mrs. Keegan in the later episodes, "The Tale Of Cutter's Treasure (1) and (2)."
Christopher Redman (Mike) starred in another Are You Afraid of the Dark episode, The Renegade Virus, as Simon. He also appears in the Goosebumps episode Say Cheese And Die, as Terrence Brooks.
Alliteration Alert! (Crimson Clown).
This story was told by Gary.
Zeebo the Clown (from the earlier episode "The Tale Of Laughing In The Dark) makes a cameo as the title character of a video game seen on the desk of the boys' room.
In the boys' room are posters on the walls. One is the publicity poster for Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the Sega. 1994, Sonic 2 had just hit the shelves.
