  • A boy steps into a time warp to help a minuteman reach his love, to present her with a golden locket, before she marries someone else.

It is an interesting episode about history coming, metaphorically, out of the textbook and into "real life", but the plot is pretty weak. A boy is in love with one of his friends, April, but can't tell her. He meets a minuteman who's fleeing from the British army and he finds that they have much in common. His new friendship gives him the courage to tell April how he feels. That's all fine and good, but where is the originality or the suspense? Though dashed a little with humor (its only saving grace), this is not what is expected of an Are You Afraid of the Dark tale.moreless

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Sam: (Story Opener) Jimmy was a smart guy, who had it pretty much all together. Except when it came to April. it's not easy telling someone you like them, especially if you're not sure they feel the same way. Everyday Jimmy walked home from school through the same park. This was like any other day for him, except that soon... events from long ago were about to leave a mark on him, today.

    • Sam: (Story Intro) Some people think history is boring, because it's all about stuff that's gone and forgotten. My story is about a guy who finds out that the old saying is true. History always repeats itself, and if you don't learn from the past... You'll be doomed to repeat it. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story... The Tale of The Long Ago Locket.
