The newspaper in which the car accident is found is dated as a Saturday issue. Since most proms are on Saturday, the newspaper should have been dated as a Sunday issue.
Goof: During the scene at the Milkshake Stand, the man with the beard is standing in line in one shot, and sitting behind the main characters in the next shot.
For some reason Kristen tells the opening line in a southern accent. She speaks normally for the rest of the episode.
Kristen arrives to the campfire in a Prom queen outfit to set a theme.
Greg: What happened?!
Jam: I dunno, maybe he ran out of gas.
Judy: I knew you'd be the ones from the moment I saw. See, I couldn't leave the cemetary unless someone brought me with them. And you solved the mystery of why Ricky never picked me up and got him to come.
Judy: Maybe he's not so crazy after all.
Kristen: The next day, they checked the cemetary records. They found the name Judy Larson. Gary: The grave they were looking for. Kristen: Yes, the grave.
Judy: We are trying to contact the spirit of Ricky Mitchell. Ricky Mitchell. Do you hear us, Ricky?
Kristen: (Opening Line) She stood over the grave holding a bouquet of wildflowers, as if taking a moment for silent prayer...
Kristen: (Story Intro) My tale is one of woe. It has been told around many campfires, and I'm here to tell the one true version. Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story... The Tale Of The Prom Queen.
Jam: No no, Let me tell it. I tell it best.
Though the twelfth episode of season one, this episode appears sixth on the season one DVD.
Ricky and Judy are very generic names used for teenaged characters portrayed in the 1950's.
Night of the Living Dead
Greg: "We're not ghosts!"
Jam: "Then again, maybe we are. Ever seen Night of the Living Dead?"
He is referring to the 1960s film; during the opening scene - which also takes place in a cemetery - two young people are terrorized by zombies.
I Love Lucy
When Jam says, "Judy I'm here, where's little Ricky?" He sounds just like Ricky Ricardo.
Tales from the Crypt
When Jam says, "Boys and Ghouls," it could be a reference to the Crypt Keeper.
