Watching it now, it's not that scary.
But, lets imagine that we're 9. A cold, dark Saturday night. Nick is on. Even better, Are you afraid of the dark is on. And Kiki's telling the story.
Yeah, Kiki! "Take away sound, you take away life."
And with those chilling words, our story opens.
What ensues is the tale of a young girl and her school partner being drawn into the dark library's even darker secrets. The acting is perfect, and the characters really feel like people. Not any old teens, real kids. The old lady is creepy too, wandering around with her box of voices.
And what if you couldn't shout? Couldn't scream? Mad dashes, cobwebs and highschool romance galore!
Oh, and look at that. We're no longer nine again. Some old hag with a box isn't really scary any more.
But for a moment in time, it scared the hell out of you!
