  • A teen, still traumatized by his best friend's death, begins seeing the boy's ghost and his beloved bicycle.

    3.5
This episode is mediocre at best. The storyline is predictable and the acting is sub-par. The main character can't act his way out of a paper bag. The father is uncharacteristically inconsiderate concerning his son's inability to handle the death of his best friend. He was the last person to see him alive for goodness sake! Ben, the little brother, is undeniably one of the creepiest child actors to grace the Are You Afraid of the Dark silver screen. The bicycle isn't even that cool. You have to be a couple sandwiches short of a picnic to realistically enjoy this episode.moreless
  • An episode about helping someone out and getting a favor in return. Mike lost his friend Ricky when they were young

Very sad episode this was. Ricky Hagerdy fell into the current. Mike tried to save him but then he couldn't. He kept on getting nightmares about Ricky's death blaming himself. Suddenly he starts seeing things and losing consciousness. He is to stay in bed all day. ben believes him and they are kind of like good siblings for they are there for one another. Ricky comes to tell Mike that Ben is at his bridge and is going to die. Some friends Ben has for it's just a spill and then he tries to make him pay. Mike comes to the rescue and everyone is happy again. The end. It wasn't there. Great story David!moreless
  • A boy begins to see the ghost of his dead best friend, and wants to know why.

    7.5
Overall this was one of the more potentially interesting episodes, and the general execution is probably fantastic for kids to watch, I do remember enjoying it back when I was about 8 or 9.

However there is one major plothole that spoiled the whole thing for me, something that virtually all younger viewers will miss. *spoilers* Mike begins to see the ghost of his friend. He gets a fever and is confined to bed, thus meaning he can't go on his regular fishing trip with his little brother. His little brother goes with two friends, and ends up in trouble. The ghost of Ricky then tells Mike he came to warn him, that he has to save his brother. However, had the ghost never appeared in the first place, Mike would have gone on the fishing trip as per usual and he would have been there to stop the little brother from getting into that trouble. Ultimately it was the ghost who set up the crisis situation which was supposedly, as summarised at the end, Ricky's repayment to Mike for trying to save him. Hardly, when it was the ghost's fault it happened.

However, if you ignore that rather large plothole, overall its one of the better episodes.moreless
  • They don't make kids shows like they used to, huh?

    9.0
I haven't seen all of this episode. You could say that makes me unfit to review it. Fair enough, i guess. I missed the first ten minutes, but when a story's this good who cares?

It's brilliant. Not perfect. It doesn't reach the eerie suburbaness of Nightly Nieghbours. Nor does it give the jumps and shocks of many other AYAOTD stories. What it does have is a great premise. A boy still mourns his dead friend after an incident involving his bike, and then...

Well, I wouldn't like to tell you, as it's such a great set up, so poignant and shocking at the same time. But you probably already know. Yep, he sees the boys ghost everywhere. Just one flick of that red hood riding along and I guarantee you'll be jumping behind the sofa.

    Classic. Classic.moreless
  • A boy who drowned years ago, is on the mind of his friend who feels guilty because he couldn't save him.

    9.1
This is a cool episode, I like the way the boy keeps seeing his friend's ghost. He feels guilty and he feels that the reason he keeps seeing him is because he couldn't save him. I used to like to watch this one all the time when I was younger. This is a great episode.
