Five bikes were used for the story, each for a different scene.
Mike: Everyone thinks I'm a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
Ben: Ask me why I'm a great comedian. Mike: Why are you a great... Ben: Timing!
Dad: You have to stop knocking yourself around over his death. Stop blaming yourself and the nightmares will go away. Ben: Yeah. Dad, Mom and Mike: Keep out of this.
David: (Story Intro) Once you find the right bike, it's like it's your's forever, no matter who has it. My story is about this kid and his bike. A bike that meant so much to him, he took it everywhere he went...including his own grave. Submitted for the approival of the Midnight Society, I call this story... the Tale Of The Shiny Red Bicycle.
Ricky: It's Ben, Mike, he's in danger.
David Winning won the 1995 Bronze Award for "Television Series Direction" for this episode and won the 1994 Gold Hugo Award for "Best Direction, Children's Television" for this episode.
This story was told by David after his bike was stolen.
