I found this December last year on DVD. It seems to be a more rare release, or in Australia at least.

I had a feeling that it wouldn't be perfect, and I soon found it wasn't (this is only my opinion though, take note.) The first half hour was more like a regular episode tacked on, and if it hadn't been for that, the movie would have run short at an hour, unless some sort of other material had been come up with. However, it eventually becomes more of a "movie", just.

The dinner scene, when the naughty notes passed around end up going to the wrong people was particularly funny. And everyone having to sing when using the outhouse!

I found it at Netflix, and found it to be okay, but they put many of the lines from different episodes in it. Plus, there was no laugh track, so it seemed a little off.

The lack of laugh track threw me too. It took me a few minutes to catch it, but then it had me. I did like the show though. It had some really good laughs in it.

It looks cheap and replaces its naughty innuendo with crass jokes. Ignore the film.

For your information, Are You Being Served? The Movie, takes place shortly after episode 11. In Episode 11 (Hoorah for the Holidays) the staff have to take their Christmas vacation at the same time at the same place. This movie is their vacation, which in the series took place in November.

Hmm, it sounds like it's worth a rental perhaps.

i think the film fails because it was not shot in front of a live audience like the show was. These actors are all Brit stage regulars and they came to life in front of the audience. The film ends up feeling oddly removed.

I got it and not thinking I watched it with my 5 years old.I should have known that a movie would be more adult but it did throw me. I guess if my kid had not been there it would not have brother me as much. The problem is I don"t feel it added anything and may have even taken away from what made the TV show so good. The lack of a laugh track did not brother me because I don't really notice them.

I was just going to post this as well! The first time I watched it I couldn't shake the feeling that it seemed a little off without the laugh track. I guess you just get accustomed to hearing that after all the jokes.
