This is the second episode, after "Omega", to feature a society where the old are considered second-class citizens.
Jonah leaves Zachery to find other working engines for the village to use. But he synthesized fuel for the tank in the Ark and does not make any more before they drive away, making such engines useless. Also, considering pollution had destroyed their environment, they should not be encouraging the use of internal combustion engines.
Adam is voiced by a different (uncredited as usual) actor in this episode.
The end of this episode is one of the few times Ruth ever drives the Ark and also one of the few times there are more than one person in the forward (driver's) compartment.
While the Ark team refer to the controls on the scanner as the "scan knob" and "enlarger knob," the controls are clearly the rectangular pushbuttons used throughout the rest of the Ark rather than knobs.
When Jonah is captured, Baron Vargas' men take away his wrist bracer containing his communicator, holding it up to inspect. But later when Jonah is working in the field, he's wearing both of his bracers, as well as his equipment belt, all of which would be presumably dangerous to allow him to keep.
Goof: Jonah explains that a gas mask can protect against the poison gas, but their tests showed it can dissolve flesh in seconds, so the mask would give no useful protection.
While this was the first episode of the series, its log entries had the highest numbers of the series at 1444 and 1445, while later episodes dipped into double digits. Only episode 8, "The Rule," also had four digit log entries at 1441 and 1442.
