Marisol Evans, the smiling woman from the commissary who helped with the cake dilemma a couple weeks back, now has her own dilemma, although it is far more serious than some smeared frosting. Her husband has been abusing her, both physically and emotionally, and Denise is called to her house after her husband reports a "fall". Denise instantly recognizes the signs of abuse from her own experience, and tries to help Marisol, and is pushed away at first through Marisol's denial, but after another beating from her husband, she knows where to go. She turns up on Denise's doorstep, hurt but ready for help. Our favorite ladies help her to start the steps she needs to get a restraining order in place and try to press charges against her husband. Her husband somehow managed to sign himself out of the barracks and come after Marisol, but luckily Claudia Joy catches wind of this and calls the police. Roxy and Denise help Marisol pack her things and leave their home, and take her to a USO show for a distraction.
In a nice side story, Pamela and Joan work together to get a USO show with Wynonna Judd and Five for Fighting broadcast to Joan's troops out in Iraq. They seem uplifted and their morale boosted by a little show, and smiles are abound.

I think the domestic violence story was so important. It happens so often, (1 in 4 women) yet is still a problem struggling to get recognition. Very often it could be a problem of he said she said, victim denial, or blurred boundaries in regards to victim precipitation. I'm glad that the Army men were able to show their colors at being outraged to such disrespect and violence toward a woman, and Frank's confrontation of Marisol's former commander made me want to jump through the screen and yell "Hell yeah!" Unfortunately, not all women are as fortunate as Marisol, but I hope that we continue to bring any attention to this matter as we can.
All in all, one of my favorite episodes so far of the season, based on all of the characters and the important storyline.moreless
