  • One of the best new drama's out there!

    9.3
What a superb, excellent episode. This show continually amazes me of how high quality it really is. The show tonight examined the depth of just how deep emotionally scarred our soldiers might become and the traumatic pain and mental issues that our soldiers face and come back with from the many different situations they might have witnessed when they were at war; and how some soldiers go over the deep end when they make it home because they could not deal with or resolve what they faced over there. I give honor and thanks to all of our brave soldiers; civilians really have no clue what it really is like.moreless
  • When Denise Sherwood is informed that her husbands chopper has gone down in Iraq, she is distraught and later Claudia Joy and Roland are taken hostage by a man who served with Roland's wife.moreless

I believe that this was a really good episode. Though it could have been better and it did not quite excede my expectations of the episode, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I watched it more than once I loved it so much. I loved the story line though I did believe Denise's harsh words towards her son were harsh, and then all of a sudden he wasn't getting yelled at by his mother everytime he spoke was a little weird. I mean i didn't understand why it suddenly stopped. I love the fact that Claudia Joy was right there as well as Pamela and Roxy and Roland through Denise's hardship. It was a great episode.moreless
  • Denise eccentric episode!

    9.5
This episode focuses on Denise and how she is dealing with so much pain and sorrow in her life. First she is dealing with Jeremy's violent behavior and doesn't know what to do with him. If Roxie haven't interferred when she did last time, Denise would had been dead. But this isn't so much about Jeremy but her husband. Who's copter went down and whether he is dead or not!
  • Intense, realistic and emotional

    9.4
This episode really dealt with a lot of the psychological effects of the war. Not only from the soldiers point of view but from those fighting on the home front. I think that this episode really paved the way for more conflicts, confessions and turning points in the episodes to come.
  • Compelling, Amazing, Dramatic

    10
I am so abundantly impressed by this show each and every week. The characters are absolutely amazing, the storylines are compelling and the twists in plot are dramatic. I was very surprised at the reversal of roles in this episode. For example, Denise was distraught until she found out her friend was being held hostage, then, she was tough as nails and right there for her gal pal. The second example would be Jeremy, here we have this broody abusive teen who's pretty much been regimented his whole life, and who is about to finally be able to begin making his own decisions. He turns around when he finds out his father might not be returning. He's the strong one for his mother, he's there for her when she finds out about Claudia Joy. It's really incredible at how the writers have been able to seemlessly show these conflicting characteristics in a believable way. I know this show is going to be around for a while, it's so wonderful, so fresh and new. I love the humor, as well as the heartache it brings. Keep em comin!!!moreless

    • Denise: I keep thinking I got the X. In Shirley Jackson's story 'The Lottery', you know, where they stone the woman to death. Cause you never think it's gonna happen to you, and then you draw the X and you're the one.

This is a short story by Shirley Jackson. The townspeople all gather and draw pieces of paper from a box, one of which is marked. The woman who draws the marked paper meets a terrible fate at the hands of the townspeople.
