This was another great Army Wives episode. I love the relationships between the women. I feel that the writers have done an excellent job in showing both loyalty as well as hardship. Roxy's one liners always continue to amuse me. While I like Denise, her character sometimes gets on my nerves. She portrays herself as soft spoken and meek. I'd like to see her get some cahones!!!
The storyline with Roland and Joan is heating up. I love that they're going through such difficult times and the writing is showing how tough it is for them. The only problem I have with the storyline that Roland cheated on Joan though, is that it's really not in Roland's character to do such a thing. He definately has more self control than that. The juxtaposition of the characters throughout the show is amazing. The little everyday trials and the large once in a lifetime tribulations are proportioned just right.Amanda is being kind of a spoiled brat. I don't think I'd be nearly as patient as CJ and Michael are with her. Hee. Can't wait for the finale.moreless
  • With each new episode, it just keeps on getting better and better.

The episode starts with Roland meeting our ladies at the Hump Bar. He reveals that he and Joan are separating. A fight breaks out with Roland throwing the first punch. In the process, Roxie takes an elbow to the face. Joan bails Roland out. As she drops him off at his vehicle, she tells him that they can get through this, that they can work things out. Roland isn't quite sure about that. Roland has been on his own for the two years that Joan was deployed. She leaves for 30 days at PTSD Rehab and he ends up sleeping with the reporter. When he had his affair, I literally screamed at the TV for him to NOT do it. However, I can see how he ended up in that situation and why he feels as he does now.

No, I am not condoning what he did. I am merely saying that it is understandable. Roland's wife was gone for two years. He remained faithful to her that entire time. When she came back, things were different. The strain of the two years and the way Joan treated Roland was like the straw that broke the camel's back. So, when Joan went to rehab and the reporter paid attention to Roland as Joan had not - Roland was caught at one of his weakest moments. The reporter provided Roland with what he needed at that moment. After it happened, Roland regretted it. He could have lied to Joan when confronted with the hotel key card, but that would have been completely out character for the Roland that we know and have grown to love. Roland is about honesty. Roland still loves Joan very much. I think that the separation is more for Roland to get a grip on himself. Make no mistake about it, Roland is very wrong for cheating on Joan. However, it is understandable how he ended up in the situation he now finds himself in. Joan ends up taking off her wedding ring. She tells Roland that they should call it what it is - a divorce.

The fight at the bar is mostly out of frustration and anger on Roland's part. He's frustrated with his situation and he's angry with himself for allowing him to get to that point.

The way that Michael Holden broke the news to Claudia Joy about his promotion was adoreable. Watching her face as it finally clicks in about what he had said was priceless! I didn't really care for the way Michael broke it to Amanda and Emmalyn. It wasn't about him letting them know he was promoted. It was what the way he told them about the increased pressure that they are all going to have to face. For me, it seemed a little too condescending. Both girls have been groomed by Claudia Joy, therefore, they are well aware of the pressures they will have to face.

When Denise runs into Joan at the commissary and learns that Roland had cheated on Joan. Joan doesn't come right out and say it, but what she said was enough for Denise to figure out what Joan meant. Later, Roland runs into Denise and she confronts him about what she has just learned. It is very clear that she is extremely disappointed. Roland knows that his status with Denise has fallen. He has been relegated to the "just another man" status.

Chase has returned. After they "take care of business", they take the kids for a frozen treat. Pamela tells Chase about her radio show. Pamela gives Chase major props but he is *NOT* happy about it. He feels that she has just humiliated him in front of the entire base - more specifically in front of his special ops unit.

The next day, Chase comes in and gives Pamela flowers apologizing for what he had said the day before. Chase learns that she actually did him a favor and that the male soldiers use Pamela's shows to learn about what their wives are up to!

Trevor attempts to get Roxie to quit her job after the bar fight. He asks her about her goals, does she have a plan for the future. Later, Roxie comes in with a tip jar stating that she's planning for the future - to start "Roxie's Bar and Grill". Trevor busts her bubble by telling her that they will not be staying there forever. He tells her to expect to move every two or three years. I felt bad for Roxie because she did not completely understand exactly what she had gotten herself into.

Roxie learns that her boss, Betty, has just been diagnosed with cancer. Problem is, she doesn't have enough money to get treatment. Needless to say, this upsets Roxie greatly as she knows that there isn't anything that she can do to help Betty.

Lenore Baker stops by the Holden residence. Claudia Joy is preparing for the promotion celebratory dinner. Lenore gives Claudia Joy a note telling her that that is what the out-going Commanding Officer's wife does for the incoming CO's wife. I *ALMOST* felt bad for Lenore.

This episode had quite a few heartbreaking moments. These moments are definitely building up to the first season finale. I cannot wait to see how all these situations unravel!moreless
  • Another enjoyable episode of Army Wives.

The episode opens with all of the gang apart from Denise in the Hump Bar waiting for Roland. Once there he announces that he and his wife have split and then a good old fight brakes out which sees the police being called & Roland being arrested. All in all it was a pretty good opening for the show and got me hooked straight away. We also find out in this episode that Claudia Joy's husband gets promoted. And Roxy's Husband wants her to find a different job. Mean while Pamela's started work on the radio show and her husband returns from his tour. Denise finds out that the reasons Roland & his wife have split up is because he had an affair. By the end of the episode Roland & his wife decide to divorce instead of separate as he wants different things to her. He wants a family and she doesn't seem to want one, at least not right now. It also looks as though Roland is goanna leave the base now and start a new life for him self in Chicago. We also discover that Roxy's boss at the Hump Bar, Betty, has cancer and not have insurance to cover her operation or her treatment. She seems to have almost accepted the fact and is dealing with it pretty well. I didn't find this episode as gripping as I had first hoped. I don't know if it was my expectations due to the first few minutes of the episode or if it was the promo I seen the week before but now it isn't as good as it could have been. Overall it was a good episode although perhaps not as good as I had hoped, but it was still very entertaining. The next episode is the finale and is suppose to have a good storyline in it. I can only hope for now that it is true.moreless
  • Very good show IMHO!

Very good show that is getting much better each and every week. We see Michael getting promoted to commader. But it comes at a price as it is anything but a happy experience. As his daughter goes off to see Jeremy despite Michael and his wife's misgivings about it. Meanwhile, as Roxy nearly got beat up at the bar by a redhneck trying to hit on her. Despite Roland being a major league jerk, he seems to care about her not being hurt. Still, I think he is worse than the redneck. Amanda see Jeremy as she might have something to tell her dad. I would love to see Roxy haul off and hit Roland & her leaving him. He is just absolute trash!moreless

so we didn't see Frank at all this episode. Michael finally made post commander. i just hope he's not going to be cocky as ever now. so i think Roland finally snapped when Roxy got grabbed at the Hump Bar by some roughneck who didn't like her rejection too much. see i hate roland because of what he did to his wife, but he still acts like a gentleman in every other aspect. it's a bit sickening and it still makes me angry to see the way he's still treating her. he's hardly in a position to give ultimatums, but yet he still wants his wife to pick their marriage over her career AFTER he cheats on her, THEN tells her their marriage is basically over, stays at a hotel, and rents an appartment for a week. he's treating her like she did something wrong. Chase over reacts a big when Pam gives kudos to her man about their sex life over the air, but they both apologize to each other and make up. Amanda takes off to see Jeremy, and i have a pretty good feeling that she might possibly be pregnant. Roxy kind of has her dreams for opening a bar and grill crushed when Trevor tells her they will never live somewhere long enough for her to be able to settle down and open one. can't wait to see the season finale next week.moreless
