Emmalin Holden and a friend are exiting the PX. They are talking about what to do next. Her friend asks what movie is playing. Emmalin tells her it's about some superhero that punches the bad guy and saves the world. A man in a yellow shirt and two MPs walk up behind them. The man in the yellow shirt tells the MPs that they are the girls. Sergeant Jackson, the female MP, asks the girls for their backpacks. Emmalin asks what's going on. Her friend just looks down at the ground. Sergeant Jackson pulls out a bottle of alcohol from Emmalin's friend's backpack. The girls are placed under arrest.
Claudia Joy Holden pulls into her driveway. As she gets out of her vehicle, Emmalin is getting out of the MP vehicle. Emmalin heads into the house as the MPs explain what happened. Claudia Joy is told that Emmalin and another girl were detained due to shoplifting at the PX. Claudia Joy asks if Emmalin was involved. The female MP says no. The store manager was adamant that she was not. The MPs were just making sure Emmalin got home safely. As the MPs leave, Claudia Joy goes toward the house. Emmalin is sitting on the porch. Claudia Joy demands to know what she was doing hanging out with someone that was stealing. Emmalin tells her she didn't know she was going to steal. Her friend's name is Sarah Duncan. Sarah is freaking out because her mother is about to be deployed again. Claudia Joy says lots of soldiers deploy – it does not give their children permission to steal. Emmalin knows. She wants to know how much trouble Sarah is in. Claudia Joy doesn't know. The MPs will contact her mother. Emmalin tells Claudia Joy Sarah is in jail because her mother is training and couldn't be reached. She wants to help Sarah – at least bail her out until her mom comes.
At the radio station, Pamela Moran has just finished her radio show. Major Casey introduces her to Jack Faraday. Major Casey refers to Faraday as 'an old friend of the family'. Pamela wants to know what brings him to the radio station. Jack tells her she did. Major Casey tells Pamela that Jack is a big 'muckety-muck' at WHPJ in Atlanta. Faraday claims it's the best talk radio station in the south. He wants to discuss Pamela's radio career. Pamela laughs and says, "Career? It's more like a hobby with the pay to prove it!" Faraday invites her to lunch so they can discuss the good things he has heard and a possible job at his radio station. Pamela accepts.
At the Burton residence, Roland is reading a parenting book. Joan comes into the room, kisses his cheek, walks around to set on the couch and notices the mountain of books on the coffee table. She says, "Whoa! Will there be a quiz?" Roland replies, "Every day until college!" He is trying to learn as much as he can so he can 'get things right'. Joan tells Roland she loves him for his big…brain. Slightly overwhelmed, Roland tells Joan they could still turn out to be terrible parents even if they memorized everything in the books. He wants to know how parenting can seem so difficult. Joan thinks Roland is overdoing it. Roland tells Joan he's having a hard time figuring out where he fits into the picture. Joan has an automatic bond with the baby. Joan asks if he's feeling a little jealous. He asks if it's stupid. She tells him no – she understands. When the baby is born, they will be equals – equally clueless.
At the military police building, Claudia Joy is at the front desk asking about Sarah Duncan. Sarah's mom, Carol Duncan, calls out to Claudia Joy and introduces herself. She apologizes for the trouble Sarah has caused and for involving Emmalin. It isn't the first time Sarah has been in trouble. It happened the last time Sarah's mom deployed. She tells Claudia Joy things are getting worse. Sarah is getting into fights at school and skipping school now. Her mother is worried about what will happen when she's gone this time. She deploys in 72 hours. This will be her third tour and her husband still has eight months left in Iraq. The back-ups she had in her family care plan are no longer willing to take Sarah because of the trouble she gets in and the problems she causes. Master Sergeant Duncan apologizes to Claudia Joy. She didn't mean to dump her problems onto Claudia Joy. Claudia Joy tells her that she wants to help.
Jack Faraday and Pamela are at a restaurant that is far fancier than what Pamela is used to. She is feeling 'slightly frumpy'. Faraday tells Pamela he wants her to work for him. The woman who did the weekend slot bailed and went to satellite. He wants Pamela to fill that slot. He tells Pamela she is brash and unfiltered. She has a voice they can really use. She will be a tremendous asset for the WHPJ family. Pamela is very flattered. She says she wouldn't even know what to do at a 'real' radio station. Faraday tells her the job is the same no matter how big the city is. Pamela can't be running off to Atlanta every weekend because she has her husband and children to take care of. He tells Pamela to bring the kids with her because they have childcare at the station. Atlanta is a tremendous opportunity for her and she should take advantage of it. Pamela appreciates what he has offered, but her life is the Army. She likes what she does and feels she is able to help people. She doesn't think she can do that in Atlanta. Faraday thinks she will be able to help more people in Atlanta than she can at the little station on Fort Marshall. He hands her his business card. On the back, he has written the starting salary. She is to call him if she changes her mind.
At the hospital, Dr. Chris 'Getty' Ferlinghetti runs into Denise Sherwood. He tells her he's pretty mad at her. She wants to know why. It is because of her that he now has to ride ten miles out of his way every day for 'that diner's insane blue-plate special'. Denise tells him it's the price he has to pay for the best breakfast around. He jokingly says, "I'm pretty sure that there's crack in the syrup!" Getty has to leave because there's an MVA on the way in. Denise goes into the cafeteria. Roxy LeBlanc hands her a cup of coffee. Denise apologizes for running late. She says she had to debride a wound. Roxy asks if it's as bad as it sounds, and then quickly changes her mind – she doesn't want to know! Roxy tells Denise no apologies are necessary since she'd be there anyway because Betty still has 45 minutes of chemotherapy. Denise asks how Betty is holding up. According to Roxy, Betty has been more ornery than ever and Trevor is more afraid of her than he is of his own commanding officer! Denise feels if anyone can beat cancer, Betty can. They talk about how nice it is to have Trevor home. Roxy says they're all crammed in the house like a box of crayons. They really haven't been spending a whole lot of time together because of Trevor's re-integration classes and Roxy's been at the Hump Bar. As soon as she is finished at the hospital, Roxy has to meet with a contractor. Denise compliments Roxy on how well she is holding up under all the stress. As the two women are talking, Darcy, a fellow nurse, walks by. She says, "Hey, Denise – talk to your husband lately? Maybe you should re-think the motorcycle rides." Roxy snaps, "So, she rides a motorcycle. What's it to ya?" Darcy comes back with "Her husband's in Iraq. Maybe if she stayed on her own motorcycle, it'd be different." Darcy walks away. Roxy asks Denise what that was all about. Denise fills her in on how she ran out of gas and caught a ride back with Getty on the back of his motorcycle. It was innocent. Roxy knows, but Denise has to admit that it might not have looked too good. She says, "Gossips are like cockroaches around here. For every one you see, there's a thousand more!"
At the Hump Bar, Roxy is waiting for the contractor to show up. She is NOT happy. Sam, the crew foreman, says the contractor had a quick stop to make and would be on his way. Roxy asks Sam if he does all the work and Fred collects the big bucks. Fred walks in, hands his coffee mug to Sam, and apologizes for being late. Roxy tells him she has been waiting almost a half hour. Fred has put together some figures for her. At first glance, Roxy does not like what she sees. She tells him she wants to take it home to look it over. Fred asks if she's ever done something like this before. She hasn't. He says construction can be difficult, but he can help her through it. He claims she has nothing to worry about with him. He just needs a check for half the amount so they can get started. Roxy says she has some place she has to be, but she'll get back to him. Fred tells her not wait too long. It's hard to find a good contractor. Roxy says nothing. She just smiles as she leaves.
At the Holden residence, Claudia Joy, Pamela, Roxy and Roland are in the sitting room watching one of Trevor's interviews. Claudia Joy tells Roxy Trevor looks great. Roxy says the camera loves him. Trevor doesn't feel that he is a hero. He did what he was trained to do – what any of his brothers would have done. He feels it is just part of the job. The report says, "But you saved lives and according to the Army's Press Release, most of the intended victims were Iraqi civilians. So, that must be very gratifying." Trevor replies, "I think enough innocent people dying over there, so obviously, anything that prevents more of that is a good thing." The reporter says, "Well put, Soldier. Well put." The interview ends and Roxy shuts off the TV. Claudia Joy tells Roxy she must be so proud of Trevor. She is. She just wishes he was happier to be home. Even TJ and Finn have noticed the change in Trevor. Roxy shares that Trevor seems like he's happier dodging bullets in Iraq than playing with his sons or sleeping in his own bed with his wife. Pamela tells Roxy it's not personal. Roxy apologizes for being selfish. She knows he's safe at home with his family. Claudia Joy shares with the group that she met a soldier who is about to leave for her third tour. Her husband is already in Iraq and they have a daughter Emmalin's age. Claudia Joy says the mother seems so lost – almost desperate. "You can see she just doesn't know how to protect her child." Pamela thinks that would be a good topic for the radio show. She suggests Claudia Joy go on the air to let people know they are not alone. Roland jumps in and says, "I'm worried about so many things already and my kid's not even here!" Claudia Joy tells Roland to not let anyone or anything undermine this experience. "You can't get this time back, so enjoy it." The women agree that Roland will forget all about it once he has the baby in his arms. Roland acknowledges they are right and says he'll just keep reading his books. Pamela tells Roland the hospital nursery is always looking for volunteers. She recommends he talk to Denise so he can get some 'hands on' training. Roxy says, "Now THAT would be worth a whole bookshelf right there!"
At the hospital, Denise tells Roland that most of the babies' fathers are deployed. She asks if he's ready and then welcomes him to 'Parenting 101'. Roland is holding various babies and is learning how to swaddle them, change their diapers, feed them and soothe them as they cry. While awkwardly holding a crying baby, he tells Denise he thinks he's going to give up. Denise tells him that's not an option. Each baby is different. He just needs to relax. Rocking a baby, Roland tells the baby he is new at this and that his real father should return soon.
At the LeBlanc house, Trevor is walking out of the house drinking a beer. Betty asks if he's going to 'Bogart' the whole thing. Trevor sits down, looks at her and asks if she can drink while on chemo. Betty says she can drink on a unicycle. Betty asks him about his shoulder. He says it's ok and asks about her cancer. She says, "Sucks! Wanna trade?" Trevor doesn't. Betty tells Trevor that, at least he was able to take out his enemy. She would love to be able to line it up between the cross hairs and shoot it. Trevor tells her not to be too sure about that. Sensing Trevor's mood change, Betty comments that it must be hard to actually shoot someone. Trevor knows what he did was right. The attention everyone is paying it feels wrong to him. He looks at Betty and says, "I killed a man. Why would I celebrate that?" Before Betty can respond, Roxy pulls up. She gets out of the car and tells them the contractor is trying to screw them. Betty says, "Of course he is. Rat bastards'll rip you off every which way they can!" Roxy was looking over the bid and something seemed funny. She went to the lumberyard and discovered he was charging them for enough wood to build 'Noah's Ark'. Roxy says, "Balls as big as church bells on this guy!" Trevor wants to know if she wants him to talk to him. She tells him no because it would ruin all her fun. She asks Betty if she should be drinking the beer. Betty says no – she should be drinking her own. Betty goes in the house. Trevor compliments Roxy on her good catch. He's proud of her. She thanks him and says she's proud of him, too. She tells him she knows he needs time to adjust. She wants him to know she isn't going anywhere. She knows he hates all the publicity stuff. She reminds him it won't last forever. To Trevor, it feels like it. He gets up and says he hopes Betty left a beer for him.
At the radio station, Pamela has Claudia Joy as a guest. Claudia Joy says, "Uh, let's face it. Family life doesn't always co-operate with the Army's needs. Sometimes even the best care plans fall through. Separating from our children is the hardest thing imaginable. All we can do is try to prepare." Pamela says, "Yeah, and we have to be careful because it's our kids who suffer. We chose this life, they didn't." Claudia Joy continues, "We're seeing more and more families going through this. And dual deployment is even tougher. It would be nice if that could be avoided." In the background, Major Casey is taking a phone call. Then, the ON AIR light is turned off. Pamela and Claudia Joy are surprised. Pamela wants to know what's going on – why they are being cut off mid-broadcast. Major Casey says he received a call from Building 1 and they are not happy with the current topic of discussion. Pamela says to tell them to turn their radios off. Major Casey tells the women they can turn off everyone's radio off and that it is NOT a suggestion.
At the Hump Bar, Roxy confronts Fred, the contractor. She tells him he must have thought she would not pick up on the fact that he would be double dipping. She says, "I may be new to the construction business, but I'm no virgin when it comes to liars and cheats." Fred tries playing innocent – like he doesn't know what she's talking about. Roxy is going to find another contractor – one with a conscience. She says the Better Business Bureau and the Licensing Board will be really interested in his tricks, as well. She tells him to leave. Angrily, Fred gathers his things. He says to Sam, the foreman, "Let's go." Sam looks at Roxy and says, "I'll take the job. I'm licensed." Roxy thought Sam works for Fred. Sam thinks he just quit. Looking at Fred, Roxy says, "Looks like your cart just lost another wheel." Fred leaves. Sam tells him he has the job.
Claudia Joy is on the phone as Michael arrives home. He asks if everything is ok. She says it was the soldier she had told him about – Carol Duncan. He asks if her daughter is in trouble again. Claudia Joy says she doesn't know where her daughter is. From the tone of her voice, Claudia Joy fears she may refuse to deploy. Michael hopes Claudia Joy is wrong because she could be arrested and court martialed. He reminds Claudia Joy he cannot get involved and that Duncan needs to go through her chain of command. Michael hollers for Emmalin to come downstairs. Claudia Joy asks Michael if he knew Pamela's show had been shut down over this topic. He says it's the first he's heard about it, but he will look into it. Emmalin comes into the room. Claudia Joy tells her Sarah's mom called looking for her and is worried about her because she doesn't know where she is. She asks if Emmalin knows where Sarah may be. Sarah is in Emmalin's room. She asked to come over after school, claiming it was ok with her mother. Michael tells Emmalin Sarah's mom wants her home, as there is a lot to take care of before her deployment. Sarah comes around the corner. She says she should go and apologizes for lying. Claudia Joy offers to drive her home. Sarah declines her offer.
At the hospital, Denise is hanging an IV. Dr. Getty comes into the room asking what they have. Denise steps back, saying it's a grand mal seizure. She adjusted his IV fluids and he seems to be stable. Dr. Getty asks Karen, the other nurse in the room, to grab another dose of Dilantin from supply. As she is about to leave the room, Denise offers to get it. She tells them she will grab some Adavan as well and leaves.
At Building 1, Pamela has come to see Lieutenant Colonel Burton. Pamela begins by saying, "With all due respect, I was just looking out for the kids and you cut me off." Lieutenant Colonel Burton has absolutely no clue what she is talking about. Pamela realizes it's Lieutenant Colonel Burton's station, but does not think she should pull the plug every time she disagrees with the topic – especially when it deals with family issues. Pamela feels it just isn't right. Lieutenant Colonel Burton tells Pamela she does not know what she is talking about. Lieutenant Colonel Connor walks by and notices Pamela. He walks into Lieutenant Colonel Burton's office saying, "Pamela Moran? Pamela Moran of 'Have At It With Pamela Moran'?" He introduces himself and apologizes for having to pull the plug on her show. Lieutenant Colonel Burton turns her head quickly and looks at him, surprised. Pamela says, "Sir, I don't understand why I have a radio show if I can't speak freely. That is the point." He says, "I'm sure that's true. I'm sure you're very popular. But to get a bunch of people worked up over something they can't do anything about, that's – Well, that seems reckless." He suggests as long as she steers clear of Army policy, she'll be good to go. Pamela asks about Freedom of Speech. Lieutenant Colonel Connor claims the First Amendment is one of his favorites. He thinks that perhaps she is unaware that it does not apply to the Army. Pamela snaps, "Yeah or apparently anybody related to it!" Not as long as they are a guest on their airwaves. Lieutenant Colonel Connor apologizes again. Pamela apologizes, as well. She asks to be removed from the guest list – she quits. Pamela leaves. Not pleased, Lieutenant Colonel Burton walks over to her desk. She tells Lieutenant Colonel Connor Pamela is right. Shows like Pamela's give people an outlet to discuss things that are affecting them. Lieutenant Colonel Connor says the rules aren't going to change no matter how much they're discussed on the radio. He wants to know what the big deal is. He says, "It's just a little radio show for the housewives." Lieutenant Colonel Burton tells him that she is STILL the Deputy Garrison Commander and she should have been consulted. Shutting down a radio broadcast is her jurisdiction. Lieutenant Colonel Connor says it is his, also. Then, he leaves her office.
At the Moran home, Pamela is angrily talking to herself as she puts the groceries away. She is venting about her radio show being taken off the air. Katie asks her why she is talking to the food. Pamela hands her a box of cookies and tells her to have one. She goes to her purse, looking for Jack Faraday's business card. She finds it, calls him and asks if the Atlanta deal is still on the table.
At the Hump Bar, Roxy has brought Betty in to show her the progress. Betty tells Roxy she has spent her whole life there – grew up there; worked there and almost died there. She has loved every minute of it – except for the almost dying part. Betty says she has something to say and Roxy is to keep quiet until she is finished. She reveals that the chemotherapy isn't working and the doctor wants to try other stuff. She isn't giving up the fight, she just isn't going to have the energy for the bar business, so she's getting out. Roxy reminds her that it's all she's been talking about. Roxy says this place can only go on if Betty does. Betty knows it'll go on with or without her. She reaches into her back pocket and pulls out an envelope. She hands it to Roxy. Roxy opens it and sees it's a Deed of Trust. Betty has given her half the bar. She is going to be a silent partner. Roxy is going to send her some profits. She jokingly tells her she better not try to gyp her. Betty tells Roxy, "If it's not you, it's gonna be some stranger, Roxy. You are the closest thing to family I've got." Roxy is speechless. She smiles and hugs Betty.
Claudia Joy has arrived at Carol Duncan's house. She is there to see how she's doing. She says she has spoken to the F.R.G. and they are trying to find someone to take Sarah. Carol reveals that Sarah was hiding at the Holden house hoping that if she couldn't be found, Carol would not have to deploy, which made her feel good. She says, "I love my country, and I love the Army, but I can't lose my daughter. I just can't." Claudia Joy understands. Carol then realizes what she has just said and whom she said it to. She immediately apologizes to Claudia Joy. Claudia Joy tells her no apologies necessary. There is nothing more important on this Earth than protecting our children. Claudia Joy says, "We are mothers. It's what we do. Carol thanks her. She says she's thinking about petitioning for a discharge. Claudia Joy says she'll still have to go through a hearing and if it's denied, she can be court-martialed and possibly go to jail. Either way, she would lose her pension and healthcare. She wants Carol to really think about it. Carol assures her it's all she has been thinking about.
At the hospital, Getty confronts Denise about how fast she left the patient's room and how she's been avoiding him. Denise tells him that people saw her on the back of his motorcycle. He asks if they are in high school. Denise says she's married to a respected officer and she cannot do anything that may affect how people look at him. Getty claims he would never do anything to jeopardize her marriage – ever. He says, "Friends don't let friends commit dalliances. No wait, that's for drunken dalliances." He thinks she's great, enjoys her company, and certainly has had uglier friends. He claims he wants their relationship to be purely platonic. Hitting on another man's wife isn't his thing. Denise has to do what's best for her family. It means no more motorcycle rides together and they will see each other only at work. Getty says ok and walks away.
At the radio station, Jordan is back on the air. He tries to be humorous, but fails miserably. He is about to share his thoughts about razor burn in the field when he is signaled that there is a caller. The woman caller asks when Pamela will be coming back. Jordan isn't sure. All the phone lines are lit up. He moves on to the next call. The second caller tells him they want 'Have At It" back – the REAL 'Have At It'. Jordan replies, "Right, well, I want my daughter to stop piercing things, but um, it's not gonna happen, is it?"
Pamela is having lunch with Jack Faraday again. He is very happy she reconsidered. He tells her he's over the moon. Pamela says, "Yeah, well if you see a cow up there…" She asks what she should wear, realizes it's only radio and it doesn't matter. She reveals that she has never been to Atlanta. Faraday invites her to visit on the weekend so she can get the lay of the land, tour the city and radio station, and the week after that do her first show. It sounds good to Pamela. Faraday pulls out a suggested list of 'talking points' for Pamela to talk about. Pamela looks the list over. She tells Faraday she doesn't care about any of that stuff. Faraday tells her people eat that stuff up. He says the broad audiences love the juicy gossip and that Howard Stern made a hundred million dollars talking about boobs and making fun of people. Faraday says people want to be entertained, not engaged. Pamela hands the list back to him. She's confused. She thought he liked her radio show. He loves her show but it's not about the show. It's about her voice, her personality. She's the draw - not Army life. Pamela says, "You know what? No. This is not ok. I'm an Army wife and mother. This is as good as it gets. And if I can't talk about what matters to me, then I'd rather not be on the radio at all.
At the LeBlanc home, Roxy has just come outside. Betty is putting suitcases into the trunk of her car. Betty tells Roxy that the car is her dream car. She has wanted a convertible ever since she was old enough to touch the pedals. She thinks it's about time she makes her dreams come true. Roxy would never have taken Betty for the pink trim type. Betty says, "It's the Warriors in Pink edition. Supports breast cancer research and whatnot." She thinks it may bring her some good karma. Roxy asks where she's going and if she was going to say good-bye. Another dream of Betty's is to drive to California. Roxy says it's a long trip to do by herself. Betty wants to do it now while she still has the energy. Roxy tells her to save some energy for the return trip. Betty drops a bombshell. She will not be coming back. Stunned, Roxy wants to know what she means. There is a great cancer center in California. Betty is going to fight the cancer. Roxy wants to be with Betty through her fight – until she is well again. Roxy asks her to stay. Betty has to do it for herself. Her mind is made up. Roxy knows there is no way she can change Betty's mind. Betty tells her to take care of their bar, her family and most of all, herself because Roxy means everything to her. They hug and start to cry. Betty couldn't have kids, but she feels that she got something better – Roxy. Betty says she hasn't cried like that since she was a kid. Roxy tells Betty to be careful because she just might go to California and drag her back. Betty tells Roxy that she has to let her go. As Betty drives away, Roxy cries even harder.
Denise is on her way to Roxy's when Frank calls. He says he has a minute and he wants to hear her voice. Denise tells him she's going to Roxy's because Betty just left for California. Frank asks what the occasion is. Denise says it's just an adventure. Frank thinks she deserves it, especially with what she has recently gone through. Denise makes a comment that it would be nice to not wait that long. Frank asks her what she means. He wants to talk about the motorcycle. He asks her to hear him out. He's been thinking about why it is bothering him so much. He realized he was wrong and should never have told her to sell it if she didn't want to. Frank says, "Well, hell, if I can let you be a nurse, I guess I can let you ride a motorcycle." Shocked, Denise replies, "You LET me be a nurse?" He claims he didn't mean it that way. Denise tells him he did. Frank concedes that maybe he did. Upset, Denise says she has to go, for him to be safe and she loves him. Then, she hangs up.
At the Holden residence, Emmalin invites Carol Duncan in. Carol tells Emmalin that Sarah has said she's been a very good friend. Emmalin likes Sarah too, and asks if everything is going to be ok. Carol thinks it will. Claudia Joy joins them. Emmalin leaves. Carol only has a moment. She has been granted a six-month deferment. Claudia Joy wrote a letter to Carol's commanding officer supporting her request. Claudia Joy tells her she was honored to do it. Carol came over to thank Claudia Joy for everything she has done for her family. Claudia Joy hopes everything works out. Carol says they still have a lot to work on, but at least now, they have the time. At the end of the six months, she will re-evaluate everything if Sarah still needs her there. Claudia Joy feels that everything will work out.
At Building 1, Lieutenant Colonels Burton and Connor are in Brigadier General Holden's office. As he walks to his desk, he tells them he has heard about a radio show that has been taken off the air. He directs them to be seated. He asks who authorized it. Lieutenant Colonel Connor admits he did it. He thought it was prudent. Brigadier General Holden says it was an error in judgment. The radio station is a public forum essential to the well being of the people on post. Lieutenant Colonel Connor felt it was an inappropriate discussion regarding Army policy. Brigadier General Holden tells him it's not meant to be a cheerleading service for the military. It's healthy to have people's opinions out in the open. If the Army can't stand up to that, it's in big trouble. Lieutenant Colonel Connor says he mainly did it to protect Mrs. Holden, as someone could possibly have interpreted what she said as criticism of Army deployment practices. Not happy, Brigadier General Holden tells Lieutenant Colonel Connor that he does NOT need him to protect his wife. He orders Lieutenant Colonel Connor to contact Mrs. Moran, ask her to resume her show and apologize. Then, he dismisses them. Before they are out of the office, Brigadier General Holden says, "And Evan, the next time you want to take this similar course of action, you run it by Joan first." Lieutenant Colonel Burton did not say one word during the meeting. As they were walking out, Lieutenant Colonel Burton could barely suppress her smile. She was very pleased with the meeting.
Specialist Trevor LeBlanc is doing a TV interview. The reporter asks him, "Even as a loyal member of the US Army, it must make you angry that you were wounded because of some other country's civil war. Doesn't it?" Trevor feels that a lot of good people, Iraqis included, are fighting and dying to bring peace to that country. The reporter thinks it seems pretty hopeless. He feels Trevor had a good reason to get out of the country and come home. Angry, Trevor says, "Listen, I 'm proud of my job. And I'm damn proud of the Army! And I want to go back to my unit just as soon as they let me." He thanks the reporter and gets up. He tries to rip the microphone off. One of the TV station guys runs after him to help. Lieutenant Colonel Riley, Trevor's Public Affairs Officer, and Roxy are on the sidelines watching. Lieutenant Colonel Riley starts to go over to him, but Roxy stops her. Roxy goes, instead. She asks if he's ok. She knows he's going through a lot and wants to help, but she needs to understand it better. She is hurt because all Trevor talks about is getting back to his unit. Trevor tells her there is no place he'd rather be than with her, and when he's gone, it's all he thinks about. But he feels he should be over there with his unit. He can't explain it. Roxy says she's his wife and asks if he could try. Trevor says, "No. I can't. Because you're not a soldier." He apologizes and walks off. Roxy, hurt, stands motionless.
At the Moran home, there's a knock on the door. Pamela opens it and is surprised to see Lieutenant Colonel Connor standing there. He asks if she has a moment. She says nothing and opens the door wider. Walking over to a chair she says, "A house call. Wow. What amendment are we up to now?" He is there to let her know she can resume her radio show. Pamela asks him how short her leash is. There are no restrictions. She is free to discuss whatever she chooses. He says, "And we'd like to apologize for any misunderstanding." Raising an eyebrow, she says, "We?" Lieutenant Colonel Connor admits he may have been a bit hasty. Pamela thanks him for stopping by.
On the air, Pamela thanks her listeners for their phone calls. She tells them it's nice to be 'home'. She says, "You know, sometimes you've got to go against the flow – especially when your flow is going another way. It's not going to make everybody happy. But you know what they say, you can't please all the people. Because let's face it. If we are not true to ourselves now, what lessons are we going to be able to teach those who come after us? Where will the next generation find the strength to be their true selves? I mean sure, life is full of compromise, but you've got to be loyal to yourself. I mean there's different kinds of loyalty and some are more important than others. But being loyal to yourself, that's my favorite. And sometimes you've got to make sacrifices so you can hold your head up high. But, you can't go wrong if you're being true to yourself – your REAL self. Not the one everybody wants you to be, 'cause that's when the really good stuff happens."
During Pamela's voiceover, we see Joan giving Roland a gift. He opens it. It's a journal. Inside the journal is an ultrasound picture of their baby. Carol Duncan sits next to Sarah on their front porch. Roxy is looking at paperwork. Trevor is watching the news. Dr. Getty is eating breakfast at Julep's. Denise comes in and says she thought she'd have breakfast with a friend.
The episode ends as Denise sits down at Getty's table.
