Episode Recap

At the LeBlanc home, Trevor is on the phone. Roxy is on her cell phone talking to someone about the re-opening of the Hump Bar in two days. Their phone calls end almost at the same time. Roxy says if she fails the inspection again, she will not get the certificate of occupancy and will not be able to open. Trevor suggests she postpone the opening for a couple more weeks. Roxy can’t. She has already taken out an ad in the paper and has people helping her to put up posters all over the place. Roxy is very frustrated and is snapping at Trevor. Trevor apologizes and tells her he is only trying to help. Roxy apologizes and acknowledges the fact that he has been a tremendous help. She doesn’t know what she would do if he hadn’t been there to help with the boys. Trevor was on the phone with his platoon sergeant. He has to report to Brigadier General Holden because Trevor had walked out during the TV interview. He cannot watch the boys today and suggests she ask Pamela. Roxy can’t because Chase just returned late last night and she doesn’t want to impose. She didn’t reserve a spot at daycare, either. Angrily, Trevor asks her if she wants him to stand the general up. Roxy asks what they are going to ask him about. She tells Trevor the reporter was baiting him. Roxy wants to know if he was supposed to stand there and let the reporter kick him where it hurts and then smile. Yes, that is exactly what he is supposed to do. He was in uniform and it was inappropriate behavior. Roxy tries to figure out what she’s going to do with the boys. TJ says they can help out at the bar. Trevor tells her there’s the solution. Roxy doesn’t like that suggestion. She has too much to do and won’t be able to keep an eye on them. There is no way that Trevor can take the boys with him. Trevor says he has to get changed and leaves the room. Finn asks Roxy if she and Daddy are fighting. Roxy calls out to Trevor. He comes out to see what she wants. She kisses him, looks over at Finn and asks if it looks like they are fighting. Finn and TJ both say no.

Claudia Joy is reading the newspaper. There is a large ad for the grand re-opening of the Hump Bar. The name has been changed to Betty’s. Michael sees the ad and says the place should have been bulldozed. Claudia Joy says, “It’s just a building, Michael. Walls, floors, tables and chairs.” She tells him Roxy has completely remodeled it. Michael asks if she’s really going to the re-opening. Claudia Joy feels she has to " for Roxy. Betty’s is important to Roxy, which is why the tribe is going " to support her. Emmalin rushes through the room saying, ‘bye’ to her parents. Michael calls her back and asks if she’s forgetting something. Emmalin hugs him and Claudia Joy gives her her permission slip. Claudia Joy tells her she should eat something. So, Emmalin takes Michael’s bagel just as he’s about to take a bite, and rushes out the door. Michael hollers, “Your welcome!” He asks Claudia Joy if Emmalin has said anything about the grand opening. Emmalin wants to go. Michael tells Claudia Joy she can count him out.

Katie and Lucas Moran come running into their parents’ bedroom. They’re excited because their daddy is home. Pamela tells them to give Daddy a minute to wake up and to go pour them a bowl of cereal. The kids veto that, saying they want pancakes " Daddy’s pancakes. Pamela says it’s the price he has to pay for showing off in the kitchen. Chase tells the kids to give him five minutes. They say ok and run out of the room. Pamela says they constantly ask when he’s coming home. She thinks they secretly enjoy the surprises " sort of like a random Santa. Chase asks what about her. She loves surprises. Pamela is really grateful to Delta because she doesn’t have to lose him for long stretches. Chase tells her that one of the guys from his team is having a cookout this afternoon " kids and all. Pamela wants to know why he is just now telling her. Chase says, “Well, it wasn’t exactly the first thing on my mind last night!” Pamela wants to know if they are going to be annoying " doing secret handshakes and having decoder conversations. Chase tells her they are like any other Army family. Pamela reminds him that they never talk about their work " which she likes. He says, “Uh, I sort of promised that you’d make potato salad.” Pamela says, “But what you really meant was ‘I’ll BUY potato salad.’” Chase replies, “Absolutely! You think I want to wipe out my entire squad!”

Emmalin is heading into school when she spots Jeremy Sherwood. Jeremy is with three other soldiers doing a morning PT run. She asks him what he’s doing there. His unit is stationed there for advanced training. She asks why he hasn’t called yet. He hasn’t even seen his mother yet. Emmalin wants to know if he would like to hang out. Jeremy tells her he should go see his mom tonight. He will call her. They go their separate ways.

Denise Sherwood is hanging a flier on a bulletin board in the hospital. Dr. Chris “Getty” Ferlinghetti asks if she’s selling her motorcycle. Denise tells him “good morning.” She says a friend of hers is opening a new restaurant and bar this Saturday. He asks Denise if it’s the bar that blew up. She confirms that it is. She tells him that her friend rebuilt it. Getty tells Denise that if it’s important to her, he’ll stop by. He looks at her and comments that her face indicates she doesn’t want him there. Denise tells him Roxy can use all the support she can get. He’s not a fan of big gatherings. He may be loud and obnoxious around Denise, but that’s because she makes him nervous. He prefers to do his work and be left alone. His pager goes off. He tells Denise he’ll be there if it means that much to her. Denise says she’ll be ok and then immediately corrects herself to say Roxy will be ok.

TJ and Finn are on top of a pool table. Roxy tells them to be careful. Finn asks if they can play pool. She allows them, but they can only roll the balls around. She doesn’t even want to know what would happen if they had a pool cue in their hands! Roxy hustles over to the inspector and asks if she passed. He tells her everything passed except for the dishwasher. That can’t be " the dishwasher is brand new! Roxy is told that the water doesn’t get hot enough. She will not receive her certificate of occupancy until it has been corrected. In addition to the failure, the beer keg that had been delivered has low CO2 and no extra tank. All of the sudden, one of the boys screams. Roxy runs over to see what happened. One of the boys has spilled juice on top of the pool table. Laying her face down on the pool table, she hollers for someone to bring her some seltzer and salt. Finn pats her on the head and says, “It’s gonna be ok, Mommy!”

Joan and Roland Burton are at the doctor’s office. Joan is receiving text messages. Her doctor comments, “And I thought I got a lot of messages!” Joan apologizes and says it’s an occupational hazard. The doctor asks if it’s always like that. Roland replies, “Let’s just say we don’t need an alarm clock!” Joan is 24 weeks along. Both mother and child are doing fine. Roland tells the doctor Joan is avoiding wearing her maternity uniform. Carrying the extra water makes it difficult and the doctor predicts Joan will be wearing them in the very near future. She asks them if they want to know the sex of the baby. Joan tells her they already know. Roland says, “Yeah, I know this might sound kind of strange coming from a doctor, but we did the completely reliable, dangle the wedding ring from a string test. Mother says it’s proof positive…” Joan throws in that she’s craving salty foods, so she definitely has a boy ‘swimming around’ in there. The doctor tells them they may want to talk to their daughter about that.

Specialist Trevor LeBlanc is standing before Brigadier General Holden. Brigadier General Holden has heard that LeBlanc is unhappy with his current assignment. Specialist LeBlanc does not feel comfortable speaking to the press " not about himself. Brigadier General Holden says there are different ways to serve. Right now, LeBlanc is helping out with morale, recruiting, bolstering public opinion. Those are valuable services. LeBlanc tells the General he will do whatever is asked of him. Brigadier General Holden tells LeBlanc everyone is proud of what he did in Iraq, but it still does not excuse his actions during the interview. Part of wearing the uniform is a commitment to discipline. He can never lose control in a hostile environment " whether it’s in a TV studio or a battlefield. Specialist LeBlanc tells the General it won’t happen again. General Holden says that is correct because there will not be another interview. When the doctor clears him for duty, he will return to his unit with the 85th in two weeks. Brigadier General Holden says, “As for that reporter, if it had been me, I would have punched him. Dismissed.” Trevor thanks the General and leaves. He is clearly pleased with this turn of events.

Claudia Joy and Denise are making floral arrangements for the grand re-opening of the bar. Claudia Joy says she can’t wait to see the remodel. The only flowers at the old bar were the weeds that grew up through the parking lot. Denise tells her Roxy is really glad Claudia Joy will be there. Claudia Joy wishes Michael would go. She feels it would be good for him. She’s happy that Denise is there, especially because they haven’t spent much time together, lately. The hospital has been keeping Denise busy. She’s needed it since Jeremy has moved out. Suddenly, Denise realizes she had volunteered to do a second shift. Claudia Joy tells her she will take the floral arrangements to Roxy.

Claudia Joy glances at the floral arrangements as she drives to the bar. She stops in front of the bar. From the safety of her vehicle, she looks inside through the window. She has a flashback of her last moments with Amanda. She unbuckles her seatbelt, draws a shaky breath and looks through the window again. There is another flashback of Amanda’s last moments. It is extremely clear that Claudia Joy is struggling to summon the courage to actually go inside. She can’t and drives off.

Getty is having lunch outside. Denise comes over and asks if he would like company. She sees the book he’s reading and asks what it’s about. He is reading a book of poetry. James Dickey was from the area. Getty wants to see the area through a poet’s eyes. Denise loved poetry in high school. She hasn’t read much since then. Getty tells Denise to take the book because he has plenty. He wants her to pick out her favorite poem so they can talk about it. Jeremy walks up. Denise jumps up and hugs him. She thought he was arriving next month. They were stationed a month early and he decided to surprise her. Without a backward glance, Denise grabs Jeremy’s arm and walks away.

Pamela is talking with a couple of the Delta wives at the cookout. The wives are excited to meet the ‘person behind the voice’. They tell Pamela she is the closest thing to celebrity that they have around Fort Marshall. Pamela tells Carla she really loves her house. They are renting it. According to Carla, they were able to get a great deal. Pamela comments on Carla’s ring. Carla tells the ladies it’s a fake. Pamela and another wife say it looks so real. Steve gave it to Carla for their anniversary. Carla made such a fuss about the expense that he broke down and told her it’s NOT real.

Jeremy rips down a flyer for the grand re-opening of the Hump Bar. He asks Denise if she can really go there after all that happened. She tells him that the only way to cure the fear of flying is to fly and because she is going to support Roxy. Jeremy says he will never go there. Denise knows he is not the only one that feels that way. Jeremy tells Denise he saw Emmalin today. She seemed to be happy. For him, it seemed weird. Denise asks if he doesn’t want her to be happy. Her sister is dead. Denise wants to know if Emmalin is supposed to be sad for the rest of her life. She explains that Emmalin has discovered a way to get through this. Jeremy sarcastically says, “Yeah, well good for her because I can’t.” He loved Amanda " is still in love with her. It hurts him to see Emmalin like that. Emmalin wants to get together with Jeremy, but he is still grieving and doesn’t want to. He asks Denise what he should do. Avoiding her is not the answer. It will cause more pain. Denise tells him to talk to Emmalin and explain " tell her what he feels.

At Betty’s, Roxy is running around. A repairman walks through the door. She asks if he’s there for the dishwasher. Nope! He’s there for the stove. Shocked, she confirms that he said ‘stove’. She is upset that her assistant manager didn’t tell her about the stove. He tells her she had too much on her plate. TJ and Finn are fighting. Roxy threatens to lock them in the walk-in freezer with the French fries if they don’t start behaving. Trevor walks in and gets them to settle down. Trevor asks her how it’s going. She replies, “I feel like I’m pulling a double-wide with a scooter!” Roxy asks Trevor the same question. He doesn’t have to do another interview. She wants to know if he’s in trouble. He isn’t. Roxy is relieved. She doesn’t think she can handle any more bad news and rattles off a list of things that have gone wrong. Trevor had started to tell her he would be returning to his unit once he is cleared by medical, but changes his mind. He doesn’t want to add to her stress. He reassures Roxy that everything will work out as they are meant to. Finn comes running over to them with TJ chasing him. Trevor takes charge, asks when she’ll be home and leaves. Roxy tells him as soon as she can.

Lieutenant Colonel Burton is in her office in Building 1. Lieutenant Colonel Connor comes in and says he’s surprised she is still there. She says she still has work to do. One of them receives a text message. It’s for Lieutenant Colonel Connor. He lets her know it’s after 4:00. She has two clocks and is aware of the time. Lieutenant Colonel Connor tells her she came in at 8:00 this morning. Lieutenant Colonel Burton says that she got a late start as she normally gets in by 6:00 am. He thinks that she may be unaware that she is into her ninth hour. She asks if he’s citing the pregnancy limits to her. The Army is pretty strict about the limits. She feels it’s ridiculous because she does not feel tired. Lieutenant Colonel Connor says not everyone has her stamina. She sets the example on post and would not want to send mixed signals. Another test message alert goes off. It’s for Lieutenant Colonel Connor. As a fact, he has informed Chain of Command to stop all contact with her as of an hour ago. Lieutenant Colonel Connor tells her he has to take the call and leaves. Based on the look on Lieutenant Colonel Burton’s face, it is clear she is NOT happy.

Roxy is at the Holden residence. She thanks Claudia Joy for making the floral arrangements as she moves them from Claudia Joy’s vehicle into hers. She apologizes for her messy car. Claudia Joy knows how busy Roxy has been lately. She really wanted to deliver them, but she couldn’t. Roxy tells her it’s ok because she’s done enough. Besides, it gave her an excuse to leave the insane asylum for a little while. Claudia Joy says, “You don’t understand. I…I drove them to the Hump Bar. I just couldn’t bring them in. I couldn’t get out of the car.” Roxy apologizes. Claudia Joy continues, “I…I can’t come to the opening, Roxy. I kept telling myself that I could because I wanted to for you. But, it’s still too hard.” Roxy says, “If I had known it was going to hurt you so much, I NEVER would have done it. I know a lot of people probably think I shouldn’t have anyway, but your friendship means so much more to me than any stupid bar ever will.” Claudia Joy replies, I’m upset, but not with you, Sweetheart. At what happened, it’s…it’s not your fault, Betty’s or the Hump Bar’s. It should…It should re-open. I just can’t be there.” Roxy understands.

Chase and Pamela are carrying their sleeping kids into the house. They have just gotten home from the Delta cookout. Pamela has never seen the kids this exhausted before. They had a blast. Chase asks Pamela if she enjoyed herself. She did. He says everyone loved her. She liked them, too. Pamela comments on how beautiful the house is. Chase hopes he gets a promotion soon so they can get a housing upgrade. He asks Pamela if she’d like that. She would like it, but she’s ok with where they are right now. Pamela is really curious to know how they can afford a place like that. She tells Chase that she was getting a really weird vibe from Carla. Pamela says she was super-nice, but Carla has an emerald ring that costs more than their car! Carla claims the ring is a fake. Chase tells Pamela the mystery is solved. Pamela continues her commentary about Steve and Carla’s house. She knows that the Wright’s furniture is not the kind you would find at a yard sale. Carla was wearing a pair of $400 shoes. Chase asks how she knows that. Pamela claims it’s because she’s a woman. Chase asks if she’s implying that Carla is a drug dealer or something. Laughing, she says that’s not what she’s saying. She just thinks it’s weird. Chase tells her to drop it. The guys are a part of him and are like brothers. He would die for any one of them and they would do the same for him. Pamela apologizes. Chase makes the comment, “Once a cop; always a cop.” Pamela doesn’t think she’s being a cop. Chase thinks she is. Pamela denies it again. Testily, Chase tells her he’s going to bed.

It’s morning. Joan is getting ready for work. Roland comes into the bedroom and presents her with an adorable, pink baby dress. He stopped by a baby store and couldn’t help himself. Joan is a little surprised he bought a dress. He tells her he didn’t buy it for himself. He pulls a tiny basketball outfit from behind his back and says, “This…I bought for me!” Roland feels that having Joan for a mother, their daughter will be well rounded. Joan would much rather have a boy. She knows she can deal with a boy. The only doll Joan played with or wanted to play with as a child was GI Joe. Joan wants to know how she’s supposed to deal with their daughter if she wants to play with Barbie. Roland says that a girl who used to play with Barbie as a child is probably CEO of the company that makes them. Joan shares that she and her mother never really had a great relationship. Roland realizes this is behind Joan’s desire for a boy rather than a girl. She thinks Roland has it easy since all little girls love their daddies. Roland reassures her that their daughter will be crazy about her. He says it is nature and nurture. He grabs her arm, they stand in front of the mirror and tells her to look at all that beautiful nature. “And with our nurturing, we’re going to be all over that.” Roland says their daughter is going to be pure love. Joan thinks the baby dress is adorable, but not her maternity uniform. She’s been avoiding wearing the maternity ACU’s because of Evan. She thinks he is going to love knowing Joan is wearing them. She doesn’t know why she lets him get to her the way he does. Dr. Roland tells her it’s because he is playing on her biggest fear " lack of control. Roland suggests she turn the tables back on him. Then, Joan will be back in control. It’s sort of like Tai Chi. “When someone pushes, you take their weight and move with it to throw them off balance.” Joan likes it and tells Roland he’s pretty good at the nurture stuff. Roland tells her that the maternity uniform will look beautiful on her. They kiss.

Emmalin is on the phone talking to Jeremy. Jeremy is outside the Holden home. He is walking toward the front door. Emmalin is coming out of the house. She says she was going to call Jeremy but she figured he was busy. She asks what he wants to do. She knows he doesn’t like malls. Jeremy tells her he can’t hang out with her. He wanted to come over and tell her in person. Emmalin asks why. Jeremy can’t go to places that they went to with Amanda. It’s too depressing. She asks if he’s mad at her. He’s not. She just seems happy. Emmalin, getting a little angry, says, “Just because I don’t walk around in a cloud all the time doesn’t mean that I didn’t love my sister. I just can’t be sad anymore.” Jeremy says, “And I still am.” Emmalin thought they were friends " good friends. She’s still here. Jeremy apologizes and says he just can’t.

At the bar, Pamela tells Roxy “not to go feeling all down about it.” Roxy says she already is. The reason she re-opened the bar was to help people get past what happened " move on " ESPECIALLY Claudia Joy. A delivery man comes in. Roxy asks him if there’s any chance he’s ‘the dishwasher guy’. He tells her he’s the drink guy. He starts rattling off what he brought in. He asks, “Are you sure you’re not over-ordering?” Roxy asks if it’s too much. The delivery man says, “For the number of people who are gonna show up, yeah. This bar has seen a lot of bad memories.” Pamela jumps in, “You know how you get rid of bad memories? You replace them with good ones. That’s what we’re gonna do. So, why don’t you just stick to the delivering and keep your commentary to yourself.” He apologizes and continues to unload. Pamela tells Roxy to ignore him because a lot of people are going to show up. Roxy wonders what she’s gotten herself into.

Denise has just arrived at the hospital. In the lounge, Getty is pouring himself a cup of coffee and asks her if she wants one. She accepts. He wants to know if she got any reading done. Denise is halfway through the book and is going to have a hard time picking a favorite. He tells her not to worry because “there is always one that will speak to you.” Denise apologizes for walking off the way she did. Getty tells her it’s alright and that he finished her lunch for her. Denise says she should have introduced him to her son. Getty says it isn’t a big deal. Denise contradicts him and says it was rude. He reassures her that it’s fine. His beeper goes off. As he leaves, he tells her to pick out her favorite poem by tomorrow because there’s going to be a quiz.

Michael walks through the front door and greets Claudia Joy. She has just gotten off the phone with the F.R.G. A local soldier was lost in Iraq yesterday. Michael says, “Private First Class Roger Michaels. Roadside bomb. He was 18.” Claudia Joy tells Michael that the F.R.G. had sent people over to his father’s house, but he refuses to see anyone. Michael thinks maybe he’s better off left alone. Claudia Joy says, “Maybe.” Michael looks at her and notices she seems pretty down. He asks her if she’s ok. Claudia Joy can’t go to the opening. She really wanted to, but she just can’t. She tells Michael he was right " that place brings back the whole night. Michael attempts to reassure her. He says, “It’s ok, Claudia Joy. There’s no real need for either one of us to be there.” Claudia Joy walks out of the room without a word.

Over at the LeBlanc residence, Trevor has just told Roxy that he will be returning to his unit. She asks when. He tells her as soon as his shoulder is cleared by medical " probably within the next couple of weeks. Trevor knows that Roxy is upset. He reminds her that she knew it would happen. She asks him if he wants to go back. He says his tour isn’t over and it’s his duty to finish what he started. Roxy tells him she gets duty just fine. “It seems like the Army gets your best effort. What about me and the boys? You know, we need you, too. With the restaurant just getting’ goin’…” Upset, Trevor tells her that she has always been his priority when he is there. She’s acting as though he’s choosing work over family and he’s not. Then, he turns it back on her and tells her The Hump has been her priority lately. He wants to know what’s going to happen when he gets transferred. Roxy says, “Ya know, it’s bad enough that people think I’m crazy for opening it to begin and I don’t even have a dishwasher. But, I don’t need you making me feel guilty on top of everything else!” Roxy tells him she’s not just doing it for her. She’s doing it for Betty; for their future. Trevor tells her, “Baby, I’m going back because that’s what I signed up to do " to fight for my country. Now, I was in the Army when you married me. Do you remember that?” She wants to know, “Meaning what?” With an aggravated shake of his head, Trevor replies, “Meaning nothing.”

The next day, Joan knocks on Evan’s office door. As she enters, she thanks him for reminding her about the pregnancy limits yesterday. He’s glad he could help. She tells him that she had a conversation with General Holden. They agreed she needs to restrict herself to eight hours a day until her maternity leave begins. Every regulation has its purpose. Joan shows Evan her maternity uniform which seems to make him a tad bit uncomfortable. Joan tells him it feels good to be loose. He asks if there was anything else he could help her with. She says she told the general she’s happy Evan is here and that “there is no one more competent to pick up the slack.” Surprised and pleased, he asks, “You really said that to him?” She did. She continues, “And while I’m at home resting, I’m gonna feel a lot more at ease knowing you’re here filling in for me.” She calls in a corporal. He is carrying a large file box. She tells him to put it on the Lieutenant Colonel’s desk. Evan asks Joan what it is. She tells him it’s the bids for all outside vendors who supply goods to the post. They need to be checked for any irregularities and altered, if noted. She pats him on the shoulder, and then leaves him with a stunned look on his face and a smile on hers. Before she gets all the way out the door, she turns around and says, “Oh and uh, General Holden wants them on his desk at 0800 tomorrow.” Evan says, “But this could take all night!” Joan claims she wishes she could help and then waves as she walks out.

Claudia Joy meets up with Mr. Michaels as he walks out of his house. She introduces herself. He tells her he’s already told them he wants to be left alone. Claudia Joy tells him she respects that “but people mean well, don’t they? They tell you they’re sorry for your loss and they understand your pain. But, they can’t. Not really. Not unless they’ve been through it.” Mr. Michaels then realizes Claudia Joy is General Holden’s wife. He remembers seeing it one the news. Claudia Joy says, “Amanda. She was only 18, too.”

At the hospital, Getty is examining a child. Denise walks by the room while receiving instructions from another doctor. Getty comes out and Dense walks with him. She brings up the grand re-opening. She tells him Roxy needs the place jam-packed. He asks her if she’s so desperate that she has to come to him. He asks her about bringing some patients with him. She tells him yeah. He says, “Great! They Psych Ward really knows how to party!”

Claudia Joy and Mr. Michaels are sitting on his porch steps. Mr. Michaels tells Claudia Joy Roger’s mother died in a car crash when he was two-years-old. From that point on, it was just the two of them. Claudia Joy says they must have been very close. They were. Mr Michaels says, “When my wife died, he saved my life. He was what I lived for.” He never told Roger because he never wanted to put that kind of weight on him. “I f…I feel like I just wanna wrap myself up in a blanket and just hide, ya know?” Claudia Joy does. “If for one moment I don’t feel bad, I feel like I didn’t love him enough.” Claudia Joy says, “It’s like pain is the only way to express our love.” Mr. Michaels nods his head in agreement. “Pain isn’t love, is it? It’s…It’s just pain.” Mr. Michaels tells Claudia Joy he wishes he could go to Baghdad so he can see where it happened. She asks why. “Because it was the last place that Roger was Roger.”

Pamela and kids are over at Carla and Steve’s house for a play-date. Jill is looking at some pictures. One of the pictures catches her eye. She asks where it was taken. Carla tells them they had rented a house at Cape Cod last summer. Steve’s sister’s family was there, as well. Pamela makes the comment, “If Chase and I ever take a vacation, it’s usually at the Motel 6 in Myrtle Beach.” Jill agrees " and she has two incomes. Pamela asks jokingly, “Hey, do you have an oil well in your bedroom or what?!” The kids go running through the house. Pamela hollers at them to take it easy " if they break something she’ll die. Carla tells her, “No worries! It’s just things.” Pamela says they’re really, really nice things. Carla reminds her that most of it is imitation. Pamela comments, “Yeah, they’re just the most amazing fakes I’ve ever seen.” Carla wants to know if Pamela thinks she is lying. She doesn’t. She just thought Carla was being modest. Carla says, “Look, a woman doesn’t say things are fake unless they really are.” Pamela apologizes. She says she’s just being nosey. Steve comes into the kitchen and clears his throat. Carla looks at her watch, comments on the time and says she has to call it a day. Steve glares at Pamela just before he leaves the room. The expression on Pamela’s face says she wonders what’s going on.

Roxy is thanking Roland for helping out. Her bartender is sick and Roland has stepped in to cover for him. He tells Roxy he put himself through college bartending. He says it’s kind of fun being behind the bar again. Roxy hopes he has someone to serve because she still doesn’t have her Certificate of Occupancy. Trevor walks in with a guy from his Motor Pool. He tells her the guy can fix anything. The inspector walks in after them and says, “And I’m here to make sure he works on it until it passes. I’ve got your C of O right here.” Astonished, Roxy looks at Trevor and asks how he did that. Trevor replies, “It’s the Army, Baby. We take care of our own.” She asks about the inspector. He’s a former paratrooper. Roxy looks heaven-ward and says, “Thank you, Army. I will never doubt you again!” Trevor apologizes for the other night. Roxy apologizes, too, saying she was way worse. Trevor agrees and then, kisses her.

Over at the Moran home, Pamela is getting ready for the grand re-opening. Chase walks into the bathroom. She tells him he needs to get ready and then, asks if the babysitter was there yet. Chase asks her what she did over at Steve and Carla’s. She tells him nothing - it was all about the kids. Chase says he just saw Steve and that Steve does not want Pamela around Carla anymore. Pamela’s confused. She asks if Steve really said that. He did. He was NOT happy. Pamela tells Chase she might have asked one too many questions. Chase says, “I told you to let it go, didn’t I?” He did. Pamela starts to say something, but Chase cuts her off. “When I go on a mission with these guys, I need them to have my back. You understand that?” She does. “I can’t afford to have somebody pissed off at me because my wife can’t keep her nose out of other people’s business.” Hurt, Pamela quietly says, “Ok.” Chase tells Pamela she is to stay away from Carla. Again, quietly, she says, “Ok.” Chase snaps, “What?” A little louder, she says, “Ok.” He tells her he’s going to send the sitter home because he doesn’t feel like going out anymore. Softly, Pamela says, “That’s all right. I’ll just go by myself.”

Claudia Joy has just gotten home. Emmalin is dressed up and sitting in a chair. She’s been waiting for Claudia Joy. Claudia Joy tells Emmalin she already said she (Claudia Joy) can’t go. Emmalin knows. Emmalin can’t go alone. She needs her mom to go with her. Uncomfortable, Claudia Joy tells Emmalin she just came from talking with a man who just lost his son in Iraq. She shares that the man wishes he could go there to stand where his son last stood. Emmalin says she wants to go. She wants to be happy. Jeremy doesn’t understand that. She asks if there’s something wrong with her. Claudia Joy assures her there’s not. Emmalin tells Claudia Joy, “I miss her so much. But, I’ve got a good life, you know? And I don’t wanna miss that. What is so wrong with that?” “Nothing,” says Claudia Joy. Emmalin continues, “You have a good life, too, don’t you, Mom?” Claudia Joy explains, “Sweetheart, um…I lost Amanda. And uh, now I…I’m even more scared. You’re the only child I have left. Not wanting to go to the Hump Bar isn’t only about Amanda. I…I’m afraid…I’m…I’m just…I’m afraid of losing you.” Emmalin asks, “But how can we live like that?”

At Betty’s, Roxy has everyone gather around. She says, “It’s been a long road getting here; and a mighty bumpy one, for sure. But we did it, I think! I wasn’t sure if I shoulda done it, ‘cause I was afraid of openin’ old wounds, but ya’ll helped me through that. And, I was a little crazy there for a little bit. So, thank you! I was hopin’…that this place could be used to…remember the ones we’ve loved and lost here. Betty felt very strongly about that.” Chase comes up behind Pamela and whispers, “I’m sorry, Babe.” Roxy continues, “She wanted The Hump Bar to be remembered for not just what happened that night. But, she also wanted it to be a place where other people come and enjoy life. So, no matter how far she travels, Betty will never, ever leave!” Roxy unveils the sign. It says, “Betty’s Bar and Grill.” Roxy finishes her speech with, “So, eat, drink and be COMPLETELY inappropriate!” Getty arrives. He goes up to Denise and tells her he brought reinforcements. Across the room, Roland is talking with Joan, but is also watching the body language between Denise and Getty. The phone rings and Trevor answers it. Betty is on the other end. She asks, “What the hell kind of name is that for a classy establishment?!” Trevor hands the phone to Roxy. Betty tells Roxy that she made it to California. Roxy asks how she’s feeling. Betty says, “Not bad.” Roxy jumps up on the bar and hollers, “Hey, you guys! Say ‘Hi’ to Betty,” as she points to the sign. Everyone yells, “Hi Betty!” Betty laughs. She says, “Well, I knew you could do it, Girl. I just can’t believe I was smart enough to put you in charge. So, go. Enjoy it with your friends while you can, because, you know what? Tomorrow you gotta get up and do it all over again. And I still think it’s a stupid name for a bar!” Roxy laughs as she hangs up. Betty laughs and then takes a drink of her beer.

The bar is closed and everyone is helping Roxy clean up. Trevor tells Roxy he’s proud of her. She’s never been so tired in her entire life. She thanks everyone for coming. Roland says it was a blast. Denise can’t wait to do it again. Roxy tells the group, “Well, I know it wasn’t easy for you guys to be here…but, you were and it means a lot to me.” Pamela says it was a great night. Roxy says, “Almost perfect.” All of the sudden, everyone stops what they are doing and look at the door. Emmalin and Claudia Joy enter. Claudia Joy says, “This is it - the last place that Amanda was Amanda.” Emmalin starts to cry. Claudia Joy hugs her. Everyone watches and a few start to cry, as well. Emmalin pulls back a little and says, “I…I think maybe she’s here, too.” Pulling her close, Claudia Joy says, “Oh Baby, she is.”

The episode ends with the tribe gathering the Holden women in a loving, comforting embrace.
