    Is it me, or is Portia de Rossi's characters in these two shows really similar?

    Don't get me wrong, I love it. She's great at being mean and funny....if you never got into Ally McBeal she's awesome in it.

    I haven't seen Ally McBeal in forever. It was my GF's show...but I love AD and I could see the connection. I think Portia de Rossi just has a (pardon if it's rude) snarky looking face and she'll probably always play that kind of character.

    Don't think I've seen a single full episode of Ally McBeal so I wouldn't notice.

    It's sort of a girl-show, and took forever to get out on DVD. I'd still recommend giving it a shot.

    I've watched all the aired episodes of Better Off Ted before seeing an episode of AD and I think her character in that is similar too. I love her in BOT and she's amazing in AD.

    I haven't seen her in anything else - just love her in AD. On a more serious note - her autobiography came out late last year - deals with her image issues; struggle with anorexia, etc. Might look into reading it.
