  • Lucille kidnaps George Michael for Motherboy

    9.8

It is impossible to not find this amazing Arrested Development episode funny as it has all of the things you expect from the show and more with great humour revolving around Buster's claw, Buster's army training, Gob's marriage and Tobias' acting.

The plot is fantastically written with unlimited laughs supplied throughout the episode, guaranteed to make all who watch split their sides, however literally you may want to take that comment.

Overall, if you like Gob's sexual idiocy, subtle Burger King advertising and Motherboy costumes, you are guaranteed to love this instalment of Arrested Development, all of the characters contributing classic lines and visual humour at one stage.moreless

  • Lucille drags George Michael to Motherboy and it's up to Michael to save him.

I love the Motherboy story. Because it's Motherboy 30, she decides to drag George Michael to it because Buster is still recovering from his hand incident. Michael worried over the traumatic impact that one Motherboy can have, so he enlists Buster's help since Buster has spent many years at this event. Seeing all those pictures of Lucille and Buster in the matching outfits is one of my favorite parts of the series. Buster tried to be a hero, and tries to go down the telephone line, but goes about two feet. Operation Hot Mother finally succeeds and Lucille and Buster get one more mother son dance. There are so many great things in this episode, such as the many outfits that Lucille brings, and Amy Poehler as Gob's wife. One of my favorite episodes of the series.moreless

    • The stuffed seal in Buster's bed is what he won in the episode "Afternoon Delight". Edit
    • In the flashbacks of Buster & Lucille's "Best Couple" wins at Motherboy, they're wearing matching outfits. This is a reference to their appearance on the cover of Balboa Bay Window magazine and Michael's statement that "You guys wore matching outfits until he was twelve" in the episode "Switch Hitter". Edit
    • Tobias's license plates suggest he auditioned (or hoped) for roles as a con man, a prisoner, a stand in for the Blue Man Group, and Dr. House.

    ADD QUOTES
    • Lucille: Do you think enough time has passed to do Sonny and Cher? George-Michael: Who? Edit
    • Michael: I think it's getting too risky keeping you up here. George, Sr.: You know what's risky? Letting your son go on that church thing. Michael: Her name is Ann, Dad, and he's not "going" on her, ok? They're just friends. George, Sr.: Not for long. They're making promises to each other. It's all that fidelity and pledging yourself to a woman garbage. I wine 'em and dine 'em, but I don't let them tell me what to do. (speaking to his dolls, arranged for a tea party) I don't let them tell me what to do. Michael: Ok, I should've never taken the pumps out of here. Edit
    • Buster: My Army training tells me that this is going to be a hot mission. Michael: What? A hot mission? Buster: Yes. I create a diversion, and you grab George Michael and go. We need a name. Maybe "Operation Hot Mother." Edit

    • n/a: Abu Ghraib
The picture entered into evidence in Gob's trial is remarkably similar to pictures from the Abu Ghraib prisoner scandal. Edit
    • Jumped the Shark

Right after Barry (played by Henry Winkler) announces he's going off to Burger King, he jumps over the shark they caught. "Jumping the shark" is a slang term for the moment at which a good show starts to take a turn for the worse. Additionally, because the phrase originated from an episode of Happy Days where Fonzie literally jumped over a shark tank with waterskis, this marked the second occasion Henry Winkler jumped the shark. Edit

    • Visual: DR HOUSE
The personalized license plate Tobias holds up that reads "DR HOUSE" refers to the hit FOX drama House. Edit
