  • WELCOME TO THE TEAM, FELICITY!

Arrow "Dodger" Review: Dating Games and New Dynamics

After last week's action extravaganza, Arrow settled back into more familiar rhythms with "Dodger," an hour that focused on setting up a lot of other stuff for the show's back stretch and establishing some new dynamics.

  • Episode Summary

Oliver takes Felicity's advice and asks McKenna out on a date. Meanwhile, Thea befriends a pickpocket named Roy Harper, Moira takes on Malcolm, and a jewel thief who calls himself "Dodger" strikes at one of Oliver's friends.

I sorta liked the Dodger but I wish they had developed him more - a bit of potential wasted there....

But, the dates and Felicities character development - excellent!

Moira going outside or normal channels to deal with Malcolm - and her reasons for doing it - go Mum Arrow!

I really like how Arrow sticks to it's character development - even keeping us updated on the island happenings was pretty much a character development piece.

More than your average action hero series, the script writers continue to keep a good focus on plot and and character and use it to drive the action rather than otherwise.moreless

Dodger was a fantastic episode of Arrow. I really enjoyed watching because there was a lot of great character development and plot progression. It was interesting to see more of Oliver's past on the island. I liked how Felicity got both John and Oliver to go on dates, which were fun to see. There was a lot of drama, intrigue and suspense. I liked how everything played out and I look forward to watching what happens next!!!!!!!!!moreless

Another fantastic episode, the flashback scene on the island i do believe that the guy who was tied up was a trap. Moira Queen is kidding herself joining forces with China White, but all in all this show is amazing. Great Special Guest Stars.

Wow once again I utterly adored this episode

It was great to see 'Team Arrow' as I've dubbed them spring into action to take down a notoriously dangerous jewel thief by the name of the 'Dodger', which by the way he was a pretty cool 'Villain Of The Week' as well!

Seeing Felicity being brave and sassy during the auction was really cool

I loved seeing Oliver and Diggle's personal lives along side their professional lives this episode, it was nice that they finally seem for now to find some stability in their love lives.

I am especially happy 4 Diggle's new found love, he really needed it!

Once again the flashbacks were really amazing I just can't wait to know more about Slade Wilson and if he ends up surviving.

Moria's dealings with new character Frank Chan and all of this 'The Undertaking' business I am still really intrigued by and I can't wait to find out all about it I just hope it is reveled soon!

I am really excited 4 next week to find out what happens!moreless

      • Slade: You're not going to last an hour out there.
Oliver: Well, I guess you better hope I get back in 45 minutes, then.

      • Diggle: And what would you have done if you were wrong, and I decided to make a call to Detective Lance?
Oliver: I would have put an arrow in you.
Diggle: Ha! Really--really--you really would have done that, really?

      • Oliver: It's not how I typically get my information.
Felicity: How do you typically do it?
Oliver: I find the person. And then I put the fear of God into them until they talk. But we can try your way.

      • Quentin: You got something against banks?
Roy: Well, it is hard to run with one under your arm.
Quentin: Well, maybe you'll learn a few new skills in prison.

      • Moira: If our plan works, I can't let it damn Walter to Hell.
Frank: No. That's the fate that's in store for us, I'm afraid.

      • Felicity: Speaking which, have you given any thought to what might happen if this doesn't work and the Dodger absconds with your family jewels? (Oliver stares) I'm sorry, that came out very wrong.

      • Dodger: Why are you doing this? I'm exactly like you. I only steal from the rich.
        Oliver: I'm not Robin Hood.

      • Roy: You know, you showed some real sack coming down here. The Glades in the middle of the night.
Thea: You must not know the value of a vintage purse.

    • NOTES (6)

      • Colin Donnell is credited but doesn't appear.

      • Injoke: In the comics, Roy Harper is the first Speedy, Green Arrow's red-clad sidekick. He eventually learned how to use any object as weapon and took on the name Arsenal.

      • In the pre-52 comics, Dodger is a Cockney thief who uses stolen technology to take on heroes and commit robberies. The second female Speedy became romantically involved with him.

      • Injoke: Norris Cemetery, where Roy's father is supposedly buried, is named after comic book artist Paul Norris. Norris drew the first appearance of Aquaman in More Fun Comics #73 (1941), which also featured the debut of Green Arrow.

      • Injoke: The fence, Carl Derenick, is named after DC Comics artist Tom Derenick.
