  • When things were simpler...

    9.0
... you had excellent and excitingly robust episodes like "The Promise". While Arrow Season 4 has now reached a whole new level of tonal overload, where characters keep doing the same repetitive, procedural things and nothing is remotely exciting anymore, it's good once and a while to revisit great episodes like this one. I love island flashbacks, and even more the centric-episode ones. This one didn't disappoint and the whole story surrounding the death of Shado and Slade's promise to Oliver that he would hurt the ones he cared about was never boring for a moment. Action was great, a little bit choppy in terms of editing sometimes, but not much of a fuss.

    Great episode. 9/10.moreless
  • C'mon Writers?!

    8.0
I really like this show, and wanting more of excellent 'the scientist'

or 'three ghosts' type episodes, and this one could have been, but the

whole scene when Slade hears and finds out about what happen to Shado,

and the dialogs afterward are completely ridiculous. The whole premise

of Slade madly blaming Oliver for the death of Shado with the choice

given by Ivo and him shooting lacks depth of imagination and so

obviously senseless. Love the show but that scene made my brain drop

    out for a moment.moreless
  • So good!

Island flashbacks are generally entertaining, but I don't really love a whole episode of it. Nonetheless, this one certainly didn't disappoint - the scenes on the island were very revealing, and they altered the course of the story in a big way.

Those scenes also tied in very well with the few scenes we had in the present, and it was a perfect mix that came together for an incredible hour.

Diggle's life hangs in the balance too, so I'm sure the next one will be big! The story is moving along very nicely - cann't wait for more!moreless
  • Olly tell mom the truth!

    9.0
I still don't understand why Oliver didn't just say to his mom, "hey Mom, I was on the island with that Slade guy and he's nuts, you're better staying clear of him"
  • I don't get it

    10
Did I skip things? I don't remember Slade loving Shado, at all. It was always Oliver who loved Shado, then Sara came and there was hardly any relationship moments between any of them on the island.

Slade has been so full of hate for Shado's death and blames Oliver for killing her, and it just seems strange to me. I've seen every episode, so it must be the writers leaving open plot holes.moreless
