  • SO MUCH HAPPENED THIS WEEK!

Arrow "Trust but Verify" Review: Oliver vs. Diggle, and Malcolm in the Middle

I think this may be the most balanced episode of Arrow we've seen in a long while, and I say this despite the fact that at the halfway point of "Trust but Verify," I typed in my notes that it was very stuffed.

  • Episode Summary

Oliver and Diggle are at odds when Diggle's former commanding officer is next on the list. Meanwhile, Thea notices when Moira and Malcolm spend time together, while Tommy and Laurel have dinner with Tommy's father.

This episode was amazingly glamorous in every way - firstly Diggle is at odds with Oliver because the next name on the list is someone he knows and trusts, which sets up a very interesting dynamic between the two throughout the duration of the episode.

Meanwhile Thea is heavily involved in the episode and it ended really dramatically - I'm sure this one will be interesting to follow up on come next week.

And then there's the explosive ending which was back on the island! That was a jaw-dropping scene and I can't believe my eyes nor comprehend what on earth is going on. I am so curious to learn more about that, I'm almost looking forward to the entertainment on the island more than in the present!

Can't wait to see what happens next!moreless

Trust But Vetify was an explosively entertaining episode of Arrow. I really enjoyed watching because there with lots of intricate character development with most of the characters and their relationships to each other. it was awesome to watch John and Oliver at odds over someone from John's past. the acting was phenomenal and the guest cast was awesome. I love how everything interconnected and how everything played out and I certainly look forward to watching what happens next!!!!!!!!!moreless
    • this episode had one flaw...

      6.0
ben browder being a bad guy and a pretty lame one at that and looking really old !! he's let him self go a bit since stargate sg-1 ended..

other wise not a bad ep but can we be done with speedy on speed/other drugs now ?? oh and can someone please tell oliver malcolm is the black archer already...

An episode that made its title work. So much trust issues between all parties. For me the moment that the Chinese archer proved to be on the other side was the most intrguing. Thea's ramblings still do not catch on for me. Either give her something to do or make her leave 9a trip to an island?).
    • Betrayal abounds!

      8.5
Whoa this episode was defiantly about betrayal!

Weather it involved Diggle, or Oliver it was another intriguing and solid episode of Arrow!

Seeing Oliver's flashbacks to the Island were as usual both sad and compelling seeing which character betrayed Olie was a real shock to me, I see now why he is so wary of trusting people.

Diggle's betrayal on the other hand I could see from a mile away so I wasn't too surprised by it, however I still felt very bad for Dig.

Moiria and Mr. Malcolm Merlin's shady dealings are really irritating me! I hope Walter can be returned in one piece

Speaking of Malcolm Merlin can we say blunt much?! I mean the way he coldly spoke of his wife's murder and how he treated Tommy? Ugh I see why Tommy hates him so much and I'm glad we got to see his father's dynamic with Tommy because I defiantly sympathize with him so much more now!

Poor Thea she always seems to be left out in the cold, I really felt for her this episode.

Ultimately seeing Oliver and Dig reconcile and re affirm their partnership at the end made me feel all warm and fuzzy!

I am so loving this show and I cannot wait for next week!moreless

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • At the beginning of the episode, a gas grenade is fired through the driver's side window of the armored car, and the hole left by the grenade is shown in the shot. In the next shot of the window, there is no damage.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Diggle: With all the guys working up top, you might want to think about a side entrance for your, uh... arrowcave.
Oliver: Just put one in. South alleyway. Something I want to show you.
Diggle: You're finally getting into online dating and you need help with your profile.
Oliver: Not exactly, but there is somebody I'd like you to meet.

      • Tommy: Apparently he wants to mend some fences, but thanks to him I can't afford a fence so I can only assume he's got some other agenda.

      • Malcolm: At Christmas one year, Tommy wanted a puppy. He wanted to name it Arthur, as in King Arthur, because he's Merlyn.
Laurel: Well, you used to be so incredibly adorable.
        Tommy: I still am.

      • Felicity: And here I was beginning to think my days of being Oliver Queen's personal computer geek were coming to an end.
Oliver: Is that your way of saying you miss me?
Felicity: No. But if it works for you, go with it.
