When outside Dan's house, Alex calls Dan's number. But he doesn't press enough digits to call a proper number, and surely he would have him on his phone book or speed dial or something as they only just split up.
We see Alex going into an off license to buy alcohol, and Jamie waiting outside. But they are both underage. Jamie obviously thinks that Alex looks older, or maybe Alex has a fake ID. It's not made clear in this episode.
In this episode Alex says he was born on May 6th, 1983 making him 17 in the episode.
Alex: I´m not 20. I live with my parents at home. They don`t know I´m queer, one day they will, don`t know when, when I´m feeling brave maybe, or maybe not. I`m not an IT, but one day I might be. I don`t like the music you do, all sounds the same, I like songs with words. Clubs we go are too loud, I can`t hear what you say. I think going to the gym is boring, and I never heard of Abba until I meet you and I think they suck. The t-shirt you bought me, is too tight and makes me feel self-conscious. And I lie to you, cause if I told you the truth you´ll run a mile... and I didn´t want you do. But I never lie when I say I... well, you know... I never lie about that. I don´t want to split up Dan...
Sooz: Men! Gay... Straight... Pathetic!
Alex: It's a load of crap all this 'consent' lark. Every one of my mates is getting it, why can't I?
Jamie: (on Alex's lying) Nah, I couldn't do it, me. It'd be like 'Er... Who am I? Student... Computer Wizz-kid... 17, 20... Straight, Gay... Lesbian...'
Sooz: You don't owe me. I'm lovin' it!
Jamie: Men's toilet! Have you grown a penis? Sooz: No. Have you?
This episode recieved 16 complaints on first airing (C4), because of the four brief gay kisses shown at 6pm.
When this episode was filmed, the age of consent for gay men in the UK was 18. However, before the first airing, the age was dropped to 16. An announcer commented on this over the end credits when shown on Channel 4.
