As the World Turns first premiered on April 2, 1956, and has been a mainstay on CBS daytime ever since. The show takes place in the fictional town of Oakdale, Illinois, and revolves around the lives of it's inhabitants. Originally the central family was the Hughes', however today the stories mostly resolve around the enormous Snyder family. As the World Turns is produced by Proctor and Gamble, the same company that produces Guiding Light, the only show to have a longer on-air tenure than ATWT. This year, ATWT celebrated its 54th Anniversary of being on the air in April 2010, the show will end it's run on Sept 17th 2010.moreless

    I really miss As The World Turns. I used to look forward to all the plots, especially Luke and Noah's every day. I first discovered this show back on Youtube in 2008 and I can honestly say that it changed my life. I feel like it gave me the power to be confident and more open about my sexuality; it allowed me to come out as a homosexual to my family and friends, it showed me that it was alright to be myself and let me know that I wasn't alone. It showed me that views and opinions on same sex couples were changing and for that, I thank this show as it'll always hold a place in my heart.moreless

    I loved this show until..... Kissing cousins and the gays have ruined this show. I will not continue watching this unnatural show and this at one time was the best all around soap. If the show doesn't change it would be better off to end in September. When it first started was before my time but my grave to see grandmother and my mom both watched the show but my family would turn over in their what filth has come to this show. Get rid of kissing cuz and gays then grasp the old days when it was good. :)moreless

    ditch the gays and get carley and jack back .find katie a good man . bring more of the older people in the script.holden sister needs more parts she keeps it exciting.emilys sister needs to marry the right guy not the old guy.stembick needs to be with barbra and the older ladies.jack a cop again.damon to get caught by jack and killed off.liley and holden back together.more action its getting boring.bring brad back.need more cliffhangers to hold the interest.craig needs to get into more trouble.janet and and her boss needs to hookup for good.the brain doc needs to go.dont let the show end.moreless

    I used to love this soap SO much, i grew up watching this with my grandmother.
    She still watches it, together with The Bold And The Beautiful, she dropped all the other soaps, and i don't blame her.

    No offence to Soap lovers, but, really, those people can't act!

    ATWT was the only soap with good actors, in my opinion, but that status is dying fast...
    I miss all the awesome people... Simon, Isaac, Jake, Damon... they were awesome!

    And the characters that were replaced over and over again, too... they got worse at each switch...

    The worse change of all... Hal Munson!!!

    When that happened, i got sick and tired of the show and never watched it again... i already hardly watched it for some time, but when the current Hal came in the picture... i just didn't want anything to do with this show anymore.

    Benjamin Hendrickson is the one and only Hal, and nobody can play him better than him!
    When Ben died, they should have come up with something else... but that's my opinion, seriously, i rather have Hal dying, than that he'll be played one more season with the current role...

    Besides... Ben played it for soooo long... his spirit didn't even reach heaven yet, and he was already replaced... how could they do that?
    How do the actors handle this? I mean... they look at some dude playing Hal... totally screwing the whole character up... but okay... how do they deal with that?

    All by all, ATWT is my all time favorite soap, it was fun while it lasted... for me, but it's over for me now.
    I closed it, wrote my own ending and moved on.

    My grandmother still watches it, though, every single day :Dmoreless

    I have watched this way to many times. It was just on when I was eating. Finally I eat at another time. Thank God I did. This is a really depressing show. It is so predictable that it makes me want to cry. Like the constant recasting of Hal's character and Craig. Come on allready. And then that child runs a way and that docter gets fired. And then there is a charity and then they are fiting over Katie or Meg or Lily is to fat and so is her daughter. How much drama can you put in one show. Not to mension all the dead coming back to life. Do we remember David Stenbeck.... This will do.moreless
