Recurring Role |
Lionel: (referring to the piglet) We'll sponsor him of course.
Lol: Sponsor him?
Lionel: Pay for his keep.. and education.
Jean: ...now they have conferences about conferences.
Sandy: (a bit disdainfully) The best our office can manage is a spritzer at the local wine bar.
Jean: (to Sandy) You may be a member of the family but you're not irreplaceable.
Sandy: (flabbergasted) I've never been asked out by seven blokes before.
Mrs. Bale: (warmly) And you probably won't be again.
Sandy: That's true.
Judy: (while talking with Alistair) Oh, Sandy did put her bikini on after all.
Alistair looks at an empty pool area.
Alistair: Reflex action. (Judy smiles, bemused.) Reflex action!
Sandy: Now look- this really isn't any of my business-
Lionel: Sandy, you've met our mad relatives and not flinched; you're part of the family now.
Sandy: Aw, gee "Daddy."
Lionel: Almost part of the family.
Mrs. Bale: I've already been called an inveterate liar once today.
Lionel: I just thought you'd started all those rumors.
Jean: And we're very contrite.
Rocky: Now, come on, Mrs. Bale; come down off your high horse of yours or I'll give you a good tickling.
Mrs. Bale: (gives Rocky a glance) Very well; (to Jean and Lionel)I accept your apology.
Lionel: (about the legendary BBQ) Well, whoever it is has a warped sense of humor and no regard for the truth whatsoever.
Madge and Rocky's horn plays "Dixie."
Roland the piglet turns out to be a sow!
The note for Sandy was addressed to "Miss X", delivered by Ernie Ferris to Mrs. Bale, and PS'd with "V.S.O.P." instead of R.S.V.P.- the former is a liqueur while the latter is the response to an invitation.
The note to Sandy, from the Ferris boys, was as follows:
Dear Miss,
Please do take this amiss, miss, but the pleasure of your company would be greatly esteemed at the Stag and Huntsman this evening. Assuring you of our best intentions at all times,
Your servants,
Lol, Tom, Ernie,Harry, Willie, Jack and Dennis Ferris
The Buddy Holly song Jean and Lionel get in on the radio is "Everyday."
Judy refers back to Series One's episode, The Picnic, when she remembers the GorillaGram Alistair sent while trying to woo Jean!
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid-Jean: ...and a half hour later we're Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!
Jean refers to the movie starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford, which was about two train robbers in the late 1800s- early 1900s in the Wild West.
In his talk with Rocky and Madge, Lionel references Nigel Benn- a middleweight boxer, nicknamed "The Dark Destroyer", who fought in the mid- to late 80s.
