    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • This episode shows how Carl really cares about his teacher Mrs.Gordon. After he learns she dies, Carl starts to cry.

      • Although this is Hope's first speaking part, she can be seen in the background in a few earlier episodes, like 'Never Can Say Goodbye'. She also returns in 'About Face' and 'Kiss Today Goodbye' (in the football match crowd).
This is typical for As Told By Ginger, they did the same thing with Noelle (see 'And She Was Gone') and Laetitia (from 'New Girl In Town').

    • QUOTES (4)

      • (Ginger, Dodie and Macie are in the girls' bathroom at school. Hope is in the corner crying)
Dodie: Oh my gosh. What's-her-name is crying. This is horrible. (pauses) What is her name?
        Ginger: Isn't it, umm...Faith something?
Macie: I think she's in my French class.
        Dodie: Well, I'm totally blanking.
Hope: I can hear you guys, you know. I'm standing right here.

      • Ginger: (to Courtney and Hope who just made up) And now, you've learned how important it is just to be yourself, right?
        Hope: No.
Courtney: Ginger, don't be silly; it's so much better being me.

      • Hepper: Hey fellas, what gives?
Hoodsey: Carl's upset cause he drove Mrs Gordon to an early retirement. His harmless pranks and blatant disrespect were intended to drive her crazy, not drive her away. Dig?

      • Carl's song to Mrs. Gordon

You're the butter on my biscuit
        The hair on my mole
I was lost before I met you
        But Gordo, now I'm whole
You're the tartare on my steak
        The ketchup on my eggs
School just won't be the same
Without that white hair and those spindly legs
So take a tip from Foutley, Gordo
        Hear my plea
        And march that old butt
        Back to Lucky Elementary

    • NOTES (2)

      • This episode was actually dedicated to Kathleen Freeman who actually played Mrs. Gordon. At first, the script for "No Hope For Courtney" was written to have Mrs. Gordon go back to work but Kathleen Freeman died before the episode was finished filming so the script was re-written to have Mrs. Gordon die as well.

      • Aired in the UK before the United States.
