One morning, Lotte sees the leaves of the world tree in a rare color. She also finds a mark on her back which looks like one of the leaves. Judit interprets this as meaning she'll grow her wings soon, a sign of adulthood. However, Mercelida explains that the marks of adulthood form a heart shape. As it turns out, the world tree is rejecting Naoya and Asuha for upsetting the balance of magic in the Monster Realm and has affected Lotte's development, as well.moreless

Lotte and the gang go to the royal family beach for a little vacation time, and Mercelida has the same idea. Later, Naoya collapses from an illness.
The princess of Svarthead, Thorhelga, has travelled to Ygvarland as a goodwill ambassador. Meanwhile, her younger brother, the womanizing Prince of Svarthaed, Sigurudd Svarthaed, has transferred to a school in Ygvarland and laid his eyes on Lotte.
Naoya goes to the Real of Man to make up with Lotte and convinces her to come back to the palace. Afterward, he and Lotte go to the amusement park, while Lotte's classmate, Elika Draupnil, takes Asuha to follow them. Elika challenges Lotte to go into the haunted house, but is scared enough to wet herself, which embarrasses her for the rest of the date. When they go back home, they find that the sage Ingrid Sorveig Sorgrims, shortened to "Ini," has moved nearer to them.moreless
Lotte receives a ticket to an amusement park and wants to invite Naoya, but is unable to ask him because everyone else borrows him. She gets so upset that she says he should just go back home, which transports her to the Realm of Man, where she is taken care of by the Guardian Spirits assigned to watch over Naoya's house. Naoya seeks the help of a 300 year-old sage, Ingrid Sorveig Sorgrims, who may able to tell him how to bring back Lotte. She also explains that monsters are not able to survive in the Realm of Man due to the lack of magic in the air.moreless
Naoya is asked to keep Asuha's royal blood a secret, but wants to confront Mercelida for leaving him to raise a daughter by himself. He sneaks into the palace as a maid, but is caught and coincidentally chosen by Mercelida to be her male escort for the night. When he reaches her room, he tells her that raising Asuha has been a great joy in his life. As it turns out, Mercelida left Asuha in the Realm of Man so that she won't have to fight for the throne like Mercelida's sisters.moreless
It's parent-teacher day at school, and Lotte is afraid her mother, Queen Mercelida, won't be able to attend. Asuha convinces her to ask anyway, but is unable to even meet her. However, her mother sees the invitation and does try to attend, but shows up late. She goes to Lotte's castle to at least see her daughter, but notices Naoya's room and reveals that she is the mother of his daughter, Asuhariet.moreless

Asuha goes to school with Astarotte, where she makes many friends, like Mist, Yuna, and Lucca. She also helps Astarotte make friends, and she is affectionately called "Lotte."moreless
